How To Help Out A First Time Fractal Audio FM3 User

- A friend and fellow Guitar Player Danny Fuljhari asked me if I could help him out with his first Fractal Audio FM3. We did a quick connection and recording setup with some basic presets and Amp sounds. No need to jump into all kinds of advanced parameters and stuff to start enjoying this amazing piece of gear !

@@Anandmahangoe Yeah, I think we have the same way to tweak, I always set the gain at the level wich keeps the sound real, and the same for EQ !!
Some times if I want more gain, I add an extra pedal with the same way, just take the gain where It can respond at the most real sound !!
@@jorgemm1000 Totally right ! If we have to tweak too much in the beginning, rather take another amp which sounds good at default setting and adjust to taste. The right Cab block helps a lot ;)
@@jorgemm1000 the best way to go….. I also u a transparant boost , most of the time an EQ pedal and boost perhaps 1-2 mid frequenties for lead and the input volume….and enjoy playing :)

Hi, how to play backing tracks without able to connect with computer. I want to Use my phone. And which Frfr to use. Currently I am using headphone. Thankyou
You can go from your phone to INPUT 2 (mono or stereo) . Connect INPUT 2 Block with FM3 edit to Output 1 and that is your Backing track signal. There are lots of FRFR monitors but Studio Monitors are also very good for home ! Yamaha HS 5-8 or Adams and many others…..if you need FRFR for live : take a good sounding PA monitor , at least 10” speaker

Hey Anand great vid but I wanted to see a tutorial from connecting the fm3 downloading fm3 edit to updating firmware I'm not too technical.
Hey Mark, I have another video on my YT channel which shows exactly how to connect the FM3 …. Please check that one out….. I don’t have a video about downloading / updating because that has been covered a lot both on the fractal forum and in the manual….. but you can always contact me by email if you have any questions….. I can send you a step by step pics…..or text :)
@@Anandmahangoe thanks for your quick response I was frustrated trying to get going with my FM3 . Maybe I will try this weekend again to update my fm3 and download presets. I will look for your tutorials .
@@marklynch403 take your time man, it is a killer device, perhaps a bit frustrating in the beginning but it will be worth it….. if you need killer presets : Austin Buddy has live presets for the FM3…. VERY GOOD !!!

Hi Anand, I got my FM3 yesterday and for now I dont have an frfr speaker or studio monitors. Only studio beats.(which I thought were really good for what they cost) through thesd headphones it sounds far away and weak. Is there a setting I can use to change the output to headphones. On my boss GT1 , there is an option to change output type to stack amp,combo amp,headphones, small practice amp etc.
Hi ! Fractal does not have those kind of settings because every routing you can do within the FM3. Point is to get to know your speakers / headphones ...so please find someone on the internet who has the kind of sound YOU like to get , dry Guitars sound....try Leon Todd or Sonic Drive Studio.....or anybody. IF that guitar sound sounds good through your headphones and not far and weak , then the next step it to get the best settings for your FM3 : Take a empty preset and start only with the Amp + Cab ...the right IR brings you more in front of the mix and back..so experiment with that and this way you can expand.....
@@Anandmahangoe Hi Anand, I was reading the manual and it says the FM3 is setup for passive pickups. I still havent found where if anywhere, is there a setting to change , or where would I play around to change the settings
@@FadeToBlack1989 passive pickups means that they have set the input 1 gain / PAD on “0” for the best signal - noise ratio….. when using hot pickups or active, you might want to adjust it to -6-12 if the input goes too much in the red. This all you can find in the I/O settings.
@@Anandmahangoe Hi Anand, Ive been reading the manual but it gets me more lost sometimes. Do you mean the input 1 knob on top of the screen or do you mean settings I can reach in FM3 edit. Sorry for all the questions and thank you for taking the time to answer.
@@FadeToBlack1989 no probzzz, the settings van be adjusted on the front of the FM3 : push the 4 button where there is written ‘setup’ on the screen…. Completely to the right part of the screen you can see it …. Once you push it, scroll to I/O , press enter , then scroll down to the Input 1 Pad…. You can also email me… maybe easier .
Please... I need to conect my Strymons into Fm3
For this you have to create a FX send return block in your signal chain and then Output 2 from FM3 to input Strymon and output Strymon back into Input 2 FM3.......put FX Mix in Strymon on 100% if using only Wet signal......do you know how to setup the Send Return block in the FM3 ?
