I totally hear you-finding time is such a challenge, especially with adulting responsibilities. For context, I have children, 2 dogs, a wife, a baby mama, a corporate job, and I make clothing, do graphic art/design, attend kids' baseball, soccer, and basketball games, and handle the typical household chores like cleaning, mowing, etc. I wake up every day at 4 a.m. and go to sleep by 9:30/10. Sometimes I try to skate 4-5 days a week, though not every session is a park session or ramp session. What’s worked for me is making skating part of my routine, even if it’s not at a park. I’ll spend 40 minutes to an hour in the driveway or a parking lot, working to improve board feel and treating it like a workout. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s something, and it helps build consistency. I recently started clearing a spot in the basement, so hopefully, I’ll get some time there too. I like to make my skate session my "workout" and set aside 40 minutes to an hour to practice something. Then, when I do get to a park or skate spot for a longer session, that’s like my free skate day(s) where I can just skate or make the videos everyone sees. It’s definitely not easy, but I’ve learned that consistency-even in small doses-helps me stay connected to skating without the guilt of long breaks. Maybe that’s something worth trying if you can find even a few minutes here and there a few days out of the week! I’m also trying to come up with ideas to make videos on the other days I skate because I really think the "workout" days are beneficial for developing more board feel and lead to improved skate sessions. It also keeps you on the board and minimizes the time between skate sessions, which is great. The worst feeling is ending a skate session on a high from a sweet trick or line you landed, then going back 5 days later and spending the entire session chasing that same trick or line again. It gets defeating. Sorry for the long response I'm a yapper! Hope this helps a bit and you can find some small pockets of time!
Thanks!!! Been trying to put some lines together before the winter halts outdoor skating. Wished I could get a wee bit more speed of the wall coming back then another ollie, but I'll take it. Thanks again bro!🙌
Bro happens sooooo often, think it's going to be like a huge battle and bam a few tries later it just clicks. I might have to start every trick with "I dont think we're gonna make this"😂
Cold ❄️ skate session season here in the UK 🇬🇧 too 😮 stay warm and keep shredding dude 😎👍💜 merry Christmas/seasons greetings from across the pond 🔥🎁✨💯🇬🇧😎💜
Thank you Adele!!! Single digits this weekend with a bit of a heat wave later next week 40f (4c) 😂 Hope you have some great holidays and good skate sessions!
Appreciate it, Steve! We're getting the weather I thought you'd be getting. Looks cold in your videos, but no snow yet-hopefully, it stays that way! Heat wave here now for 2 days with over an inch of rain, then back to cold, but no snow for a bit, thankfully.
Thanks!!! Been getting more confident on the wallrides, fatdad said stop trying to hit it like transition and bam it clicked. My favorite kind of sessions!
To say you wasn't feeling that park you certainly did a great job at it. I need to start doing euro gaps and the bails I have had on them out of my mind.
Thanks!! Made the best of it. It’s just one of those places where you really have to think about flow and where you’re going. I feel at home with a high bank to pyramid, then a quarter to get you back… and maybe a rail 🤔. I’m really starting to dig the euro gaps. I practiced ollies off the bank pyramid thing at the local, just to start feeling out the height I’d get. (The bank from the last "working on kickflips" vid.) After watching all the footage, I’m fairly certain anything off of a flat bank gives our ollies a little boost in height. Try to find a bank similar to the one I practiced on and give it a try before hitting the euro gap. The banks you skated at Warrington look like a great work up to a euro gap also I think there's a step up at Ramp 1 where you guys skate.
Thanks, Wes! Gotta bundle up and take the days we can get. Plus, I think the layers and padding soften the falls a bit 😂. We’ve got a heat wave this week-think 50s-but 1.5" of rain, then back down to the 30s, but it should be dry. Might have to bust out my military extreme cold weather jacket 🙃.
@ Yeap me too I have three different Battle Dress Uniforms too old green BDU’s, DCU’s and ACU’s I medically retired in 2006 after rolling my Hummer and wanted a full set of each they are just collecting dust in my closet! lol !!
@VintageSk8 🤣🤣 we're in same boat. I have a ton of ACU's and OCP's, dress greens and blues. Not sure why I just won't let it go...ohhhh and a boot collection
Super fun sesh man!! Combo ollie to wall ride was so hard. Great job on that euro gap man one day I gotta get the balls to hit that thing!! My ollies are nowhere near the consistency or height of yours tho gotta keep working on it. Super fun sesh we gotta hit up Middlefield again soon!!
Definitely was hard. If the hump was a bank or pyramid, we would've been all set. That place is close enough I'd be down pretty much whenever adulting allows 🤣 oh and farmington as well.
Great chill sesh! You made light work of the Euro gap… I tried my 1st one in the summer and it felt odd until I got it. The wall rides you both did looked awesome, definitely something I’d like to try if I found a suitable one but until then I have my toppled fence… 🤣
Thanks, Simon! Been trying to take a huge step back with the skating to fix my basics or develop the lack of, so the chill sessions are perfect. I really overthought the euro gap-built up a ton of speed on the first try, only to realize it wasn’t needed at all. The wall here was super mellow and manageable. I'm sure you could prop the fence panel up to replicate it 😂.
How often do you actually get to skate? That's my biggest problem now that I'm in my 40's. No time.

Yeah! That line you got at the end was nice 👊

Looked like a fun session. Loving the collab vids between you and FDSB, keep it up dudes! 👍🤘
So much fun!!! Think we both push each other, it's awesome to just skate and try different things. Glad you dig the vids and appearances!!
I love a bank to wall-ride, just the most fun.
These have always been a struggle for me, but this specific bank to wall-ride setup is just so forgiving. Lots of fun!
I love those "Did not think I could do that" moments

Those were some very sick and very enjoyable lines to watch. Fantastic work from both of you!

Great session. The wall rides looked sweet.
Thanks!! Wall rides here are way more approachable than the other vid. Just tough park to figure out "flow"
Awesome video as always man, great work on wall ride and euro gap! Loved seeing you battle the hump to wall ride with FDSB too!
Thanks!!! Team work when we get joint sessions in! The hump to wall ride with the FDSB was a total battle, but both of us landing it was sick!
Dope session the wallride action is so cool. My buddy dave taught me those over the summer... homies helping homies
Thanks!!! Been getting more confident on the wallrides, fatdad said stop trying to hit it like transition and bam it clicked. My favorite kind of sessions!

I hope in 15 years I'm still having as much fun as you guys.
15 years puts me at 58, I should definitely be landing kickflips by then 😂
@OldBrokenSkater That's enough time to learn them and get over them lol.
😂 I might have to pin this for research purposes 15 years from now 😂
Way sick sesh, makes it even better knowing you braved the cold, Brrrrrrrr! Man it looks cold there!

@ 🤣 I’ll give the fence another go.. 🤣
Cool skatepark also, looks kinda unique and weird 😅
Very spread out so hard to find the right flow here, but it does offer some unique obstacles.
