Great video. Every session doesn’t have to be a huge win. It’s all about taking the steps to get that next new trick. I suck at kickflips too. My goal is to practice in the garage all winter and have them by spring. We’ll see. Nice session!!
Thanks, bro!! You totally get it-it's not about huge wins every session; the win is getting that much closer each time and showing up again to keep trying. I was amped to get both feet on and fall because it showed me that my knees and jump need to be higher, so I’ve got some winter work to do too. I think after the next vid or two, I’ll be in the garage or basement just like you, working toward that same spring goal! Any time you see me trying those kickflips, let me know how you’re doing with yours! 🙌
I’ll definitely check this person out! If reminding someone of someone cool means I’m less of a goofball, I’ll take it-small victories, right? 😂 Seriously, thanks for the kind words!!
@@OldBrokenSkater Ah yes! I'm a fan of him! He isn't really a very skilled skater, but he started skating at the age of 40. I find his slow/subtle progress an interesting thing to watch! To bad he doesn't post that much anymore 😞🛹 🦔
@Egelman1982 🤣🤣 you're in the right place then. My progress is starting to feel like watching paint dry. But so much fun to slow things down and think about it before hucking it...most of the time
Fab sesh! Kickflip you landed on the bank looked really good as did the shuvs. The kickflip on flat was decent too, still yet to get out to try but hoping for a Sunday or Monday sesh ✌🏻
I really want to get a kickflip to fakie on a bank. I think thats a realistic goal and a little less terrifying then getting it out of something. Also they look so sick. Spill on the wallride looked brutal. Hive has a nice one thats actually doable the one in Moodus is gnarly. Nice vid man!! Real skateboarding!! Your bad sesh would be a dream come true for me!!
Thanks bro! Totally doable!!!! Was just watching a video of a guy doing kickflips on a pretty wide shaped board, I'll show you tomorrow. Moodus wallride is just nuts, no "safe spot" to fall 😂 luckily most of my latests falls I'm just sliding and have the extra winter layers cushioning 😂
Oh, now that’s a sick idea!!! I got a wall ride on a way mellower wall in a vid that’s coming up. This one’s a beast-it’s so vertical. Hoping to get it in time.
The trick to higher jumping literally just lift your knees higher, you already have the movements down. But yeah I've discovered that higher tricks come from your ability to pull your knees up. Baby jump then tuck your knees. I have a video displaying the jumping technique I use if you're curious. Good stuff though!
Bro, I subbed, and that was the first vid I watched 😂. You should’ve seen me trying to get the jump like you-pretty entertaining. You have like an extra hang-time technique ANDDDD the floating soft squat landing!! I have knee issues from previous surgeries I’m trying to correct, but your jump/knee tuck is what I’m working toward! Also, your hardflips are 🔥
@OldBrokenSkater Hey brother thanks so much! I never believed in my ability for so long, it's crazy that in my later years I'm stronger, smarter, and just a better person in general, lol. I love learning and I love sharing my discoveries with others. Blessings friend! I filmed Forever Learning:360flip, Ollie, and FS Shuv today so expect those out soon. Keep killing it my guy!!
You have that no problem brother you just have to commit once you did you landed it now just need to practice, and you'll have the sickest kick flip consistently! You shred as always sick vid glad you didn't get hurt!
Appreciate it, Wes! Believe it or not, I’ve landed more kickflips as an "older" skater than I did when I was young. Glad you dig the vids-looking forward to your next one!!
@@OldBrokenSkater Yeah that gives me hope that perhaps I might land a kickflip someday. Anyway next video coming soon was working on kick-turn manual off a bank shorts up now.
We got a little over 4 inches 2 days ago. Temps haven't gone above 30 so the melt is slow 🙄. Spots have ice or snow, I'm trying to clean my basement out so I can skate 🤣. We have one indoor park but the hours seem to be always peak hours.
Cant wait to see what you think of the Slappy trucks too. I've been skating some recently and so far I love em. I still ride a setup with indys but couldnt tell you if I like one more than the other. I do like the way Slappys sizes are and so far the stock bushings are good too.
So far, I’m digging them. I got to ride the bowl I’m always riding once with them and found myself way higher on the 6' wall. I like the turning radius too. I’ll probably do a comparison vid later on between Slaps, Thunders, and Indys. Indys lost me the first couple months I was back skating, mainly because you can’t tighten down the inverted kingpin…people kept saying switch out bushings, etc., etc., but skating is expensive, man. If I buy trucks, I don’t want to buy more things to make them work correctly, ya know?
@ So my first indys had the inverted kingpin and I had an issue with one of them wobbling. Indys have a lifetime warranty and they helped me a lot with that, but Im not a big fan of inverted kingpins. Definately are liking the Slappys though. I'd like to try some hollows, but I think I might be too heavy for them.
I think every skater can relate to the danger of "one more try" 🤘
You've got that kickflip for sure, it was right there! 👍🤘
I was literally right there! I gotta get my stamina up 😂. Wanted to get a few more tries in, but once the tired sets in, I know the falls are next.

Really great video, kickflip looked nice but the wallride slam was rough!
Thanks, Scott! I’m learning to fall better-evidently, there’s a technique to that 😂

The wallride would be sick if you can get that. Would be sweet to get it in a line with the disaster.

That wall ride was freaking excellent man and what’s the deal with those deep blue skies you have in every video?
Thanks, Steve!! Those are the super cold day skies. The only thing missing is the recent snow that’s fallen! 😂
@ You’ve got snow? You can’t skate?

That wall ride wasn't a bad note you had that. One more...
