“In the hospital "or “at the hospital"?🤔 what's the difference between them?

Let's say... your friend calls you up and wants to know where you are at?...then you would say..“You are at the hospital to see my friend? here “you are a visitor."
2). if you want to break the news to your boss or maybe your friends...in this scenario you can say “I have been admitted in the hospital
" here “you are a patient in the hospital".
