None of the four minivans tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety earns an acceptable or good rating in the updated moderate overlap front crash test, which now emphasizes back seat safety. The Chrysler Pacifica, Kia Carnival and Toyota Sienna are rated marginal, while the Honda Odyssey is rated poor.
These results are valid only for models sold in the USA

Hope they fix this asap. In the market for a minivan but it makes it a moot point if it's not safe in the back

in order make the forward facing second row pax safer in the event of a crash, the OEM needs to redesign the second row pax seat of the KIA Carnival LM (KA4) 2.0 T-GDI I4 5-Dr Mid Size Minivan (LHD / RHD) . . . a tight body fitting contoured seat that will minimize the swaying around effect during a crash. inertial forces acting on the second row pax from side to side . . . but this will only work on forward facing second row captain seats, not bench seats . . . use of military automotive grade extra high strength steel for the front & aft subframe plus the A-pillar B-pillar C-pillar & D-pillar . . . aluminium alloy engine hood, doors (including aft tail gate) & roof . . .
I don’t know which vehicle here uses military grade extra high strength steel like you mentioned. All the cars have marginal rating except Honda which got poor. So I don’t see your point here.
It's not the seats and/or not just the seats, it's the seatbelt. It is the presence or absence of or improper setting of the belt tensioners. Just look at Golf, Volvo - they don't have captain's chairs, but they pass this test well or even perfectly.

Why doesn't the Chrysler NOT have side curtain airbags? Heck, my 2015 KIA Soul has that and more! This is supposed to be a 2023 model of the Chrysler, and NO side airbags??? Seriously?

Wow. All these minivans got really bad safety ratings! These are supposed to be family vehicles, and yet. This is just sad that in the start of this decade they can get people injured really bad. If only Volvo made minivans.
