I incorrectly called Sgt. Savage "Sgt. Slaughter" in one clip, even though I referred to him by the correct name in the same clip. Obviously, I do know what his name is.
One clip about the 1985 animated series season was left out. The segment is still correct, though incomplete.
Slaughterize it! :D
His o-ring is worse for the wear huh? Gi joes has don’t ask don’t tell too
I have the Sgt. Savage figure and tape still.
Planes, Trains & Automobiles... one of my all time faves.
"Duke, I was thinking that the team attacks too slow. We need a 'Fast Attack Specialist'. Help me come up with his requirements and gear."
"Alright, Hawk...well, first, let's make sure he's infantry. Nothing is faster than a guy on foot, especially not jet packs and Skyhawks."
"Um...ok, unorthodox, but I'll trust you. What else?"
"He need to wear the BULKIEST combat armor we can find. The more he's wearing, the higher his inertia will be when he runs."
"Can't argue with that logic. We still have some super trooper armor left over. Ever since the Super Trooper got shot because he was so shiny, no one wants to use it, so I'll have R&D spraypaint it green."
"What color green, general?"
"Doesn't matter. They'll figure it out. What else, Duke?"
"He should have... weights on the back of his belt!"
"Alright! Oh, and I'm going to make this guy a captain so he outranks everyone in GI Joe except me, so you'll be taking orders from him from now on."
funny as hell! love it!
Put him on the Rapid Fire Motorcycle. XD
The hall of fame Rapid Fire looks pretty good no neon colors just a standard military uniform.
Rapid Fire also made an appearance in the GI Joe 12 inch Hall Of Fame line as a Toys -R- is exclusive wearing grey/black & white urban camouflage.
This has been one of my favorite figures since I was a kid. I love this figure.
I have the Sgt. Savage figure and tape still. His jeep too. I might get Rapid fire. Seems easy to get. I love that you last watched Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Great movie.
I only got to the figure just now and ran the cartoon on UA-cam and actually quite enjoyed it. For me here in LA we never had the DIC cartoon on any local TV channels..
Here's the "New" and "improved" Super Trooper! Now available in revolting Zombie green! Lol
This was my very first GI Joe, oddly enough.
Rapid Fire didn't need to reuse Super Trooper's shield...his big-ass VHS does the job just fine.
God, "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" was an awesome movie !
I liked the fact they used the same part on some character's. For me, it gave them something to talk about to each other! His head sculpt kinda reminds me of how my dad looked! I would use my Knockdown figure as him all the time! Wish I had one of these guys instead though!lol
If they had produced Rapid Fire using the 1992 Toys R U exclusive Hall of Fame 12" uniform, this character could have been saved. That file card was still Mary Sue'd a lot, but the figure design saved it
When I got back into collecting G.I. Joe action figures, a few of the figures at retail at the time (2002) had VHS tapes of the Sunbow series cartoons included. Since I had not seen the cartoon in many years it was a nice treat. Unlike with Rapid Fire, the cartoons actually featured the characters you were purchasing in action figure form.
Just checked the about stats out and see your channel is close to 3 million views now. Great job.
I was "lucky" enough to get not one, but two of this guy one Christmas, from different sources. Even back then, something felt very "off" about him.
In all actuality Bushmaster did produce an M-17S rifle in the early 90's but it would still post date this particular toy.
You GIJoeBurg joke made me laugh out loud at my office. I might have to stop watching these at work when I'm doing paper work...
I also have a RAPID-FIRE action figure too. I found him at a American Surplus store also called as Ukay-Ukay store here in the Philippines.
The 90s was great for star wars as a kid. Yes even the crazy muscular builds. GI Joe... not so much. Ohhhhhh the neon....
Great idea for an October theme.
I can't believe you still have a working vhs player thats so cool
Not a rare thing I got one too but I grew up with VCRs and they are still made and can be bought at stores
I imagine the device on the right arm is Wet Suits depth gauge readout. Makes sense for Rapid Fire so he can see how low his quality and design are.
I still have that super trooper sealed
I'm so pick up Rapid-Fire on ebay! I mean anyone can collect a GOOD figure, but to really appreciate them, you have to add a zombie green lemon to the line up! Lol
I like Rapid-Fire. OK, not my favorite, but he commands the Fast Attack VEHICLE section of my Joe force.
I got this figure for my birthday 1 year. still have the tape
I'm surprised this figure didn't get banished to Hell along with Zandar, ROBO Joe, Ice Cream Soldier and T'Jbang... or is that still a thing? After all the reviews are done it might be fun to do a story with the banished figures trying to escape Hell.
My favorite figure along with nightforce muskrat.
I say rapid fire is deservingly the black sheep of the 1990 G.I.Joe series.
That particular figure has just made me go blind ...wow he's super bright ...nice work man
Great review!
I think it's safe to say Rapid Fire is the black sheep of the 1990 wave of figures.
Always enjoy the reviews and how you always do your best to give the 90-93 figures an impartial review despite the lazy weapon reissues and bright colors
i chuckled, i guffawed, i chortled
Oh man, October is gonna be painful. I can't wait.
I so agree hcc788
Even though everything is a copy of Super Trooper and others, one redeeming quality, I'd say is his code name. Rapid-Fire is a much cooler code name than generic Super Trooper.
Well it’s was still fun Super Hoodie CoCo despite the fact you warned us it wouldn’t be 😂, and the shout out to GI Joburg was a nice touch. Yo Joe... BURG!
Wait! I've got it! The second "code name" wasn't a mistake! Rapid-Fire IS Super Trooper! He's just been given a new cover identity. Why? ... reasons.
LOL, I enjoyed this review, I like this new series, keep them coming HCC:)
This is one of a handful I'm missing in my collection. As such I was curious if that green vest, helmut, and rifle were made of the same material as the color-change plastic on ZARTAN'S swamp skier the Chameleon or the DREADNOK SWAMPFIRE?
amazing! i was looking forward to the articulation scene to see if you mention how he can not put his arms down.
A totally missed figure and amazingly there was a really neato 12-inch figure of this guy that kind of was close to the hype on the filecard. Now I would love to see a Rapid Fire wanna-be made up of all the parts from the other figures used to make him but in their original condition and paint! Would look really funky!
Great review of a cruddy figure. Seriously, what is with all of the neon colors during that time period?
Best theme month ever!
Trains planes and automobiles....nice
So aside from the figure stands, 90s GI Joe had a pretty cool theme song. Don't lie.
/yeah the rest was a "mixed bag" at best
They could have given him a different head and marketed him as a Dreadnok Swampfire driver/ pilot.
I had always thought that RapidFire became SuperTrooper!
Dic was pronounced as Dic(k). Which was an appropriate term for their production company.
Joeburg has tire tracks from where you threw him under the bus. Great review on a ugly reused figure. I know Hasbro did that later on with other figures. He looks like Dr. Mindbender cloned him.
If they make a modern figure of this guy, they should add a VHS player and VHS tape in 3.75 inch scale.
The figure could have looked better if the colors were more subdue (forest green vest and helmet, brown camo pants and color the weapon gun metal gray or black.
👍
In Rapid Fires Defense, his color scheme is a lot more fun if your parents had a black light...
How about figures that have disguised them selves as the enemy? Like Joe's dressed as cobras?
Instead of "Beach Papa" he could have used "Boys' Mama"! Also, maybe GI Joe wants each new recruit to really feel special and so their favorite colors are applied to their uniforms!
Was Rapid Fire ever in the comic book ???
My headcanon is that rapid fire isnt one person, but mass produced cloned soldiers made from super troopers dna. They are made to be disposable troopes but more intelegant then b.a.ts
Yea the colours got pretty crazy after 1985 lol
Were you kind, did you rewind?
Break out the Popcorn !!!
The hell is a “fast attack expert?” Listen, I got a 96 on the ASVAB and my Army recruiter told me I was eligible for anything. I started listing off Joe specialties and he sent me to the Coast Guard.
There is one thing that's kinda sorta better between Rapid-Fire vs. Super Trooper; the code name Rapid-Fire is an improvement i think, but would work well on a better figure. AND there is YET another similarity between Rapid-Fire and Super Trooper, albeit after the fact; Rapid Fire is the name of a 1992 Brandon(The Crow) Lee action movie, while Super Troopers is the name of a Broken Lizard comedy trope movie from 2001, as previously mentioned in HCC788 Super Trooper video. Rapid Fire the Movie- not bad for a '90's action film. Worth a rental at Family Video.
Good review as always, HoodedCobraCommander788. Why didn't they they just call him Super Trooper version 2, lol. Hasbro's figures started first with lazy, awful, effortless, and extreme overuse of neon colors in 1990. There are very few figures I would honestly want to own in the 19990-1994 action figures. They got cheaper with parts and originality.
Pinned the ass on the Joburg like pinning the tail on the donkey. Nice 1 Hoodie. It's true. We are pottymouths, kids.
Rapid-Fire. Or "Not-so-super" Trooper
no october gaurd in the month of october?...
I remember being excited for the new DIC series! But the theme came on....WTF is this new song?! Then the characters spoke...thats not Dukes voice! Cobra Commanders voice sounds a bit off! I think I may have made it through a couple of episodes then gave up on GIJoe altogether. I remember literally crying because GIJoe drastically changed around 88.
I don't think even Skittles would use that color for their candies.
Hey! Listen!
It's on GIJoburg lol
Wait a minute. You come into my house, my party, to tell me about the future? That the future is tape, videotape, and not film? That it’s amateurs and not professionals? I’m a filmmaker, which is why I will never make a movie on tape.
I wonder if the suggested retail price of Rapid-Fire was the same as a normal carded figure, or if you had to pay more for the "privilege" of owning the DIC cartoon episode.
mad max fury road: so shiny... so chrome...
Never saw this guy at Woolworths or Walmart in my hometown. Looks like that was a blessing in disguise.
Rapid Fire on a Rapid Fire Motorcycle, plz.
Great video. You're right, that is one ugggglllyyy figure!
Too creepy and bright, for me. You did a nice job as always.
Did you say Outback
i have have crash dummies ted with vhs and junkman with vhs.
His o ring is a little worse for wear....happens whenever I eat insane level hot wings
Hasbro sure knew how to save money on cheapest scale, no wonder dic was chosen to do the cartoons
Those were so hard to watch after Sunbow :)
They still know how to do that. Look at Transformers Cyberverse toys.
Bahahaha I heard it on g i joeburg
Hasbro must be hurting for cash.
Sounds like some buttering-up (albeit very cheaply) of a DIC executive. "Hey Mr. London, yeah...sure...we can make a figure of you..."
custom figure
is not ugly lol
I bought a Rapid-Fire a few years ago. Not because I thought it looked amazing, but because it's hands down one of the worst looking vintage JOE figures I've come across. He sticks out like an infected toe in my small collection. I actually hate it and regret buying it.
And due to him never actually appearing in any media I decided to discard his filecard and create a backstory for him. He's basically the one guy all the JOEs hate, he's obnoxious, full of himself and thinks he's amazing. To Rapid-Fire, he's the best around and when Cobra attacks, the JOEs send Rapid-Fire out first in the hopes that some Cobra trooper will shoot him down. The JOEs even designed his armor and equipment to be as obnoxious as he is in hopes that it'll draw enemy fire onto him.
Love the costume. Any action figure that never showed up on the cartoon or in the comic always felt fake to me.
oof! Another tough review. Looks like all of October is going to be a slog. Keeping my fingers crossed a gem sneaks in. At least a good portion of dregs is being burned through lately. Still, a pretty good resulting video considering the total lack of personal investment most of us have with Rapid fire. Your facial expressions while watching tape were really funny. Way to give Jim Carrey a run for his money in expressive facial comedy.
The 1990 DIC G.I.Joe cartoon was a disgrace to humanity. All traces of its existence should be eradicated.
Hoodie CoCo you're right it is a ugly ass figure
Are you wearing pants on your head?
*D* Do
*I* It
*C* Cheaply!
😐!?...😑🙏😒😏😁😂😂😂
I love when you poke fun at Hasbro; LMAO
Welcome to DIC animation, may I help you?
Yes.
How may I help you?
You can start by wiping that (bleep) dumb (word I learned from G.I. Joeburg) smile off your rosie (bleep) cheeks. And you can give me a (bleep) decent G.I. Joe series, (bleep) Snake Eyes, (bleep) Zartan, (bleep) Shipwreak, (bleep) Crimson Twins, 4 (bleep) Hiss Tanks and a SkyStriker!
I really don’t care for the way you’re speaking to me.
And I really don’t care for the way your company left me with (bleep) Scarlet shopping for cloths with (bleep) Eco Warriors and (bleep) Battle Captors and (bleep) Metal Head. Plus I didn’t care for (bleep) Captain Grid Iron playing (bleep) Range Viper in a (bleep) football game to just have you smile in my (bleep) face. I want my (bleep) Sunbow series and Marvel Comics right (bleep) now!
May I see your Cobra-La figures?
I threw them away!
Oh, boy.
Oh, boy, what?
You’re (bleep).
Travis Miller these are your rapid fire autographed earrings 😂
Lame figure . Super trooper was at least shiny.
OMG Super ugly super cheap & a copy of super Trooper which was not a good figure anyway. Great review though
