Another evergreen classic video. GI joe characters loved to feel the wind in their faces. Sometimes you have to sacrifice protection to live your fullest life.
Glad to see someone covering this gem. We had a lot of fun with it as a kid. If IRCC we used the missiles for long range artillery but kept it closed for up close battles.
Omg 30 years of owning this and I never knew the tank treads moved! *mind blown* This was always such an impractical vehicle but sadly one of the few my Joes had so it was always used. I always felt bad for the two up top who would be hanging out over empty space when it "transformed" lol
I had the opportunity to buy this vehicle. I put it back on the shelf because it didn't come with a figure. I think I bought the cobra rage instead, the beige and dark red with black wheels version. I bought it because it is cool looking! Mine is still unbroken and 100% complete. Anyway a friend back then bought the battle bunker, I still got to play with it even if I didn't have one.
This was a vehicle that I remember as a kid, and I would usually Overlook it. There was one animated episode of the DIC that showed the vehicle driving through a city and possibly pulling a trailer. To me that made it look more like it was an armored truck, which actually had more appeal to me than a mobile bunker. Looking at this as a toy and something that be fun to play with it hits the mark as a real-world vehicle their leaves a lot to be desired
Lol. Funny review. I remember this one fondly, it was one of my favorites along with the Chrome Raven I had. So many fun "play features " when I was a tiny one.
I had this as a kid and loved it! As for its practicality, I always assumed it was to be more “bunker” than “mobile”. Like a vehicle that fulfilled a role as a sentry post which was able to maneuver into better defensive positions.
I just got one of these about 3 weeks ago. It's missing a couple of missiles and the front grill thing, but I'm really happy with it and am glad I picked it up. I can't wait to complete it and put it out on display 😊
I really like using the GI Joe Battle platform when I was growing up with lot of my new and old GI Joes I would use the team in use that vehicle lot I know a lot of vehicles or from different eras but it reminds me a lot of the GI Joe Havoc as well as the mobile command center and other vehicles that hooded Coco mention
Thank you for reviewing the battle bunker I have that toy when I was a kid and I still have it with all these pieces by sum of them stickers almost fade away but still works thank you again hcc788
Your review seems fair. I like the look of this vehicle, and it seems like it's fun. That's the important thing to me. I do like some realism in the military style toys, but let's face it: GI JOE is as much fantasy as anything else. It's okay to just accept that there's sci-fi and unrealistic stuff to contend with. I was thinking of buying this vehicle as I have a lot of GI JOE and Cobra figures, but I don't have many vehicles yet. This one looked to be more interesting than many of the other '90s vehicles, and I admit that I mainly liked that it looked a bit more military with the color, and with that pillbox look of the front. I'm kind of disappointed though that you can't fit two people in the cab. I'd rather have had fewer missiles, and an extra seat for a figure, personally. Thanks for informing me on the pros and cons, HCC788!
Wait. Wait wait wait...The treads can reposition? *Whips out the Battle Bunker from its display area* WHAAATTTT!!!!!? I've had this thing for a year and I never knew the treads moved!!! It's soooo much cooler now....It was always cool to me but now? Wow! Since I was a child I wanted a Battle Bunker, it just looked like a mean armoured beetle. Never got it though. I resorted to building a poor facsimile out of blue Lego blocks...that thing fell apart constantly but it was the best I could do with my kiddie resources. Fast forward to last year (2020, yes I am very late to this party), the biggest GI Joe collector I know was getting rid of some of his older pieces and he happened to have the battle bunker minus the top machine gun. I snatched it up for a decent price and eBay'ed the gun. It sits proudly in my display case, piloted by a slew of modern figures who fit in the generous seating arrangements provided by the older GI Joe vehicles. Very fun toy! Thanks for the review!
You have to look at it as an amored, sentry, rapid deployment, mobile assault. Use your imagination. A group of these backing up the general and with the hammer could broke cruisers and destroyers running with an air craft carrier in naval battlegroup terms. If well camouflaged it could sit for weeks not noticed and wait to ambush enemy formations.
Awesome review! I always appreciate these in-depth looks at the vehicles I missed out on as a kid. For a 90s toy, the MBB is surprisingly cool. Something I thought of regarding the side guns- If they're called "mortar cannons" maybe they're supposed to arc fire like mortars, and could be fired from behind cover without exposing the tank? (I'm sure the cartoon just had them shooting laser blasts, though.) 😄
Bumper is a mine sweeper. Cool action figure vehicle tho! I really hope they do vintage series line through wal mart , like they do transformers. Or at least a vintage 6” line??!?
9:02 Well, now you know what the point of the seat clips is for. It's to hold the bodies of the Joes in place when they accidentally turned those guns 360 degrees...
It looks like a fun toy overall which kinda looks like it would be real, like the Mean Dog. Although I expected more figure placements just like you said. Nice review overall.
7:28 You ever read any of the Hammer's Slammers novels? They're about a mercenary hover tank unit in the future. They have laser guns they call POWER GUNS that use "bullets". Essentially just replacing cartridges with batteries. Each battery gets 1 shot then ejects, like any small arm we'd use today.
When I had it.... It's more rapid -mobile armored field artillery station. It could smash into battle-field obstacles and enemies and provide cover for the infantry right behind with mortars with the top turret to provide cover fire. For me, "mobile" is closed-shell, body-lifted. It's "dug-in" in open position, body-lowered. When it is open, it provides some troop cover to rally from. The instructions had mirrored mortars, and I have to wonder if there was a cost-cut articulation point that would have allowed more side-side movement along with the up and down that we have. (Also, with that second seat inside that might have been there with that control stick, might the interior seats be the mortar-fire control spots?) The Mobile Battle Bunker never felt like a Main Battle Tank to me ever. Up against the H.I.S.S., which was my only enemy "tank" for years, the M.B.B. felt slow comparatively but it easily bumped over that opponent.
Well it's not a Cobra Pogo... I always figured this thing's role was defensive like the Swedish Stridsvagn 103 or S-tank. The top guns were for AA defense, the side mortars were for intermediate range indirect fire, and the missiles were a.nasty surprise for any HiSS tank that survived the mortar barrage. Hold the line, but still fall back when needed.
great review. I love this bizarre contraption of a vehicle , there's just something about it that looks cool . I tend to use it in tank mode with the bunker shield down .
Its funny how adults try to make sense of "military" style toys, and how their designs do no makes sense, are outlandish, and are impractical. Gi Joe military vehicles were never designed to make sense and practical. They were designed with the child's imagination in mind. Ever notice how most of these toys have guns everywher? Have you ever drawn a tank of your own imagination when you were a boy? That is the sole allure of these toys... for boys. I get this point, and this is part of the nostalgia I am experiencing right now.
@ 5:31 Brian, The way you sound shocked that Hasbro would be so blatant about *exactly* what the real intent of the front bumper is: 😂🤣🤣 Like, "Hasbro admits a toy is for blatant impaling and subsequent hamburgering, of PEOPLE!" Which then, made me think of the "people-scooper" from Soylent Green - this toy would fit *perfect* in a dystopian play scenario based on that! Great video! Thanks for the morning laugh!
The MBB almost seems like a discarded idea for a second wave of Battleforce 2000. Not my cup of tea, but I found an old one on ebay for collecting and it was kind of interesting. Wish they made better use of the interior. Missiles could have been exterior mounted and the twin guns from the top could have been in place of the missile arm and have a gunner seat next to it.
Real world placement LOL. Something I been working on while working on a Chain of Command and Unit Structure for the GI Joe Team. The Mobile Battle Bunker would be an Artillery Vehicle, It;s main weapons are twin Mortar guns which elevate. Making this an Indirect fire weapon system. most likely attached to the Mortar Platoon, Following behind an attack element providing mobile fire support. Why the Bunker design. To prevent a successful COBRA Counter attack. With the drivers in the elevated position . The bunker can provide suppression fire as Joe forces to regroup at this mobile strong point and with the Anti Tank Missiles take out any COBRA armor advancing, much like a Tank Destroyer. It is not a front line vehicle. but a support vehicle providing over watch. A good Crew selection would be Zap for the Anti Armor Systems, Downtown for the Mortars and lastly Bombstrike, to cover communications and forward observer coordinating Air Support.
Wow... I forgot I had this until midway watching this video! How could I forget?! Maybe, at one point I didn’t think it was all that great, but your video made me remember the great times I had with it... until I launched it off the stairs at the apartment building I use to live in. Most of it survived. But I kept launching it.
The 90s again! If I were a member of GI JOE, I would tell my commander that I'm not driving that! You would be safer in a Smart Car with missiles and maybe a couple of guns.
This looks like one of those rare occasions when GIJoe used a Cobra style vehicle, being as Cobra was CONSTANTLY having their troops exposed on their vehicles, and if this was in black, it would look like a heavy version of a Cobra Hiss
Be great if they did more integration with that line since the sdcc exclusive Trakker figure makes direct references on his file card. He'd be the perfect driver for this!
This is a neat vehicle. It doesn't have to be practical. GI Joe's stuff was always not quite realistic, especially later on. I don't buy Joe's because it's realistic. If it looks cool, I want it.
I'd move my bunker too, if Susan approached. I have never been very impressed with this particular vehicle. I usually go for the underdogs, but this is just too weird. The bottom had some grid pattern holes. Were they thinking of adding a sound effect feature?
It was a little disappointing not to have real tank chains in the tanks, yeah some will say that might be broken in the future but this would have put a really awesome detail even for a kids eye back in the day.Though i do know they released some recreations of those classic sets, wouldn't be awesome if they recreate also this would't be great to start working in the reworks of those normal tank chains???
Just from looking at adult oriented toy channels like this I now have UA-cam recommending many child oriented toy channels. It looks like predictions on Retroblasting about UA-cam modifying the algorithm to do this are coming true. I hope its only temporary.
So wait...the front has holes, through which you can see the missiles? So any lucky ass Cobra Viper could just lob a grenade or put a lucky shot through the holes....sending up the vehicle...the guy NEXT to the missiles AND everyone and every thing else up in flame! 🤣🤣🤣 OMG talk about poorly designed, the "bunker" protects NOTHING 🤣🤣🤣
The toy over all is just dumb. It kinda shows the lack of quality and care Hasbro was putting in the toy line at this time. The mobile bunker idea would have been better if it was small play set that could be assembled. A smaller version of the GI Joe Headquarters.
Another evergreen classic video. GI joe characters loved to feel the wind in their faces. Sometimes you have to sacrifice protection to live your fullest life.

Same. I was stunned when he did that!
I’ve always liked this vehicle. It’s unique.
Awesome review of the G.I. Joe Mobile Battle Bunker and your cool opinion of the toy vehicle. Thumbs Up HCC788.
I had the opportunity to buy this vehicle. I put it back on the shelf because it didn't come with a figure. I think I bought the cobra rage instead, the beige and dark red with black wheels version. Another great video. I have this item and I love the Battle Bunker. Its a great piece and part of my collection. Goes well with the old school Joes.

I remember putting one together earlier Christmas morning..1990

Great review im glad my favorite vehicle i grew up with won this toy was easy to take over to fiends homes and outside
A tan repaint to match the MCC would be cool!
We did a review of the MBB a while ago. ua-cam.com/video/D_fxDpGbr0A/v-deo.html

Looks like it would make a perfect pair with the Coastal Defender. Both are green and transform to reveal hidden missiles
I like it. Creative and it looks legit old joe.
Should have come with a joe army builder for driver.
And yeah i was gonna say ur describing a MBT or IFV.
Mine plow
One I have always wanted but never quite gotten to as yet...

Love the opening. You are so dorky, but you also look tough enough to beat up all the other dorks on UA-cam.

Omg i had this .....it was one of my favorite g.i. joe vehicles
Cool!!! Never sew before
Looks like a badass Zamboni 😉

Great review!
it reminds me of a somewhat futuristic Semi cab and would make for a cool mod project as such
It looks like a Zamboni.
Well, this is awkward. This is a first for me in the youtube recommenations that I will actually think about.
Cool video
The official *"Carpet Snagger©"*
by _Hasbro_ 👍😂
Isn't the purpose behind a wheeled vehicle, to push is as hard and fast as you can, and crash it into stuff?
@@JoeMotionVideos82 yeah👍😂

Those would look pretty cool. I haven't seen one, that I can remember.
Wow it's been along ti.e si ce I've seen 1 of those... I had two. Love the vid so cool
This was the first gi joe vehicle I've ever saw. Looks like ironman's helmet
Glad I'm Cobra
M-M-M-M-M.A.S.K!
Be great if they did more integration with that line since the sdcc exclusive Trakker figure makes direct references on his file card. He'd be the perfect driver for this!
Great review!!! Like other vehicles, it seems this vehicle suffers from 1:25 scaling, other than the seats.
I Agree With U, I Always Thought She Was Pretty Cool. She Reminded Me Of A Female Colonial Viper Pilot.
Intro legit had me laughing out loud!
G. I. Joe need more vehicles Drivers !!!
This is a neat vehicle. It doesn't have to be practical. GI Joe's stuff was always not quite realistic, especially later on. I don't buy Joe's because it's realistic. If it looks cool, I want it.
Why did Hasbro go away from the seat peg? I remember seeing that missing on the X-30 for the first time. I was highly disappointed.
Crazy I have two of these things haha
It looks like an orc head in tank mode.
I'd move my bunker too, if Susan approached.
I have never been very impressed with this particular vehicle. I usually go for the underdogs, but this is just too weird. The bottom had some grid pattern holes. Were they thinking of adding a sound effect feature?
Recently bought two of these, one just like your the other a darker green. Any thoughts?
Ha ha this thing is a death trap, but it looks like a fun toy!
It looks like it would make a good minesweeper.
I redesigned my battle bunker from old spare I made it alittle wider so it could fit more Joe's inside bout total 4 figures
The front of this thing looks like a sci-fi garbage truck with laser cannons welded on as an afterthought.
It could be used for Airfield defense for a GIJOE Air Base.
We should get redeffect to review this.
Should replaced the front battle ram with center placed treads or something
I think I would have played with it as a missile defense platform. All opened up defending a camp or As part of a base.
The bottom tier has like three vehicles in it.
I give this review a thumb up! The vehicle is awful but this video is top notch entertainment.
Is that shirt like battery operated or just the recording. The crystal ball thing looks like its glowing.
It probably has to do with the green screen software. It's confused by the material.
nice! New subscriber, hi do you have the uss flag?
I don’t remember that . Prob expensive af too?! Anyone$ ? Like the glider w/ figure ...lol
I wouldn't mind if it was painted in TIGER FORCE Color or better let NIGHT FORCE Color
Can we say mobile battle bunker 3 times fast?
Just from looking at adult oriented toy channels like this I now have UA-cam recommending many child oriented toy channels. It looks like predictions on Retroblasting about UA-cam modifying the algorithm to do this are coming true. I hope its only temporary.
Look like Hasbro just stopped caring in the 90s. It would have been so easy to make this vehicle cool but to many illogical mistakes.
Always thought it was a cool vehicle, just misnamed with the bunker part...
I love the character of cross-country but his vehicle was so stupid... I think the mobile battle bunker had the same designer.
This vehicle is so stupid. I own one. I want another one. Why?!
I'm glad I never got this, it blows.
Move ...lol
I bought one of these at a flea market. Didn't know it's name. Now I do. Thx.
Check out my GIJOE fan film. Trailer just dropped on my channel.
So wait...the front has holes, through which you can see the missiles? The toy over all is just dumb. It kinda shows the lack of quality and care Hasbro was putting in the toy line at this time.
The mobile bunker idea would have been better if it was small play set that could be assembled. A smaller version of the GI Joe Headquarters.
Dumbest tank ever
