I'm not a smoker. I bought a lighter (it was from a band's website) and after looking online, I realized it isn't a real zippo. After exploring your channel, I realized I NEED to own an authentic Zippo. Yes...most likely my first and ONLY one. It has been a long road trying to decide. All of this to say, I appreciate your fanaticism. It has really helped me understand so much about these lighters. (I think I'm going for the Armor Bolts Design). Thank you for answering so many questions for newbies like me, with each video you have make.
I was hesitant to purchase zippo coz i thought the flint wont last long and its pretty hard to find zippo part where im living, but after watching this video, all my worries are gone😅👍👌
Wow! 😮 I have 2 zippos I've had for 2 years haven't charged the Flint but then again I don't use my zippo everyday. Thanks for video! Your sacrifice and pain was not done in vain.
For something that can get lost and barely be held between your fingers they sure last longer then expected. I assumed 200 max, but I never really tested it
Yes but I think because of how damaged my thumbs were caused me to press on the wheel with less pressure. Resulting in more strikes than usual. New channel bro lost this one come check it out
You have to remember that the flint will die when its so small that the base of it is no longer supported in it's housing... So 4,000 seems like a fair number. Great video!
It was weird because flint that was in my new zippo lasted only week and it started jamming, i hope new one that i put inside will last longer. Maybe it is because wheel is new and it bites more into the flint? I just use my zippo to light cigs.
So, got my second Zippo in me life. First one lasted for a day (and got lost). Thanks for all the tips. One interesting thing I learned and nobody mentioned: do not use a lot of force one the wheel and preferable strike it from a side or be ready for wheel jam and flint replacement every week or so. Or not, just killed a flint in a day and a half, go figure.
Probably pressing really hard. New wheel lots of teeth. Don’t forget my thumbs were damaged here. Probably stopped using pressure and full turns. New channel buds lost this one
RELATED Question: Do you know what the shelf life of a flint is? My GUESS is that, as long as the coating is intact, the lifespan "should be essentially infinite", but after the coating's been scratched, that's when the time starts to tick down. Found an old Bic in the drawer and flicked it...NOTHING! Turned it over and dust fell out. It's disposable, so I don't care, but I can't allow that to happen to a PROPER lighter, now can I? Getting ready to yank all the flints out of my collected Zippos, just to avoid potential future trouble with them. Key thinking is both because you need to protect your collectibles, but if they rot regardless of whether they've been struck or not, then it might not be worth stocking up. What say thee?
What a nice little thing to do on a evening, i will say that im disagreeing with it lasting so long. Results would be different on a brand new insert. How long did you sit and spark that wheel bud?
Other than the poker night monthly cigar, my lighter is used for camping, hiking, and as an if needed EDC item. I put 2 spares in my insert. May I live to see them used. 😆 🤣 😂
@@zethcader6478 I prefer the zippo flint over the bic flint to be honest. Very dirty residue flints. Zippos are cleaner with less residue. I should make a video showing this on a white tissue paper. @@Zippofanatic77outdoors everyone says bic flints etc, I have tried this many times and bic flints and every other butane flint I have tried are always to thick to fit into the zippo, I wound up laying the bic flint sideways on stone and shaving it down to fit inside the zippo tube, everyone mentions this but I seriously doubt anyone has ever busted a butane lighter open and tried to use the flint.
@@funkmonkeyfun yeah I honestly havent tried it in years but the bic flints used to fit back in the day, I used em all the time. Interesting to hear that though. I haven't even had mine for a month and the flint is almost gone. I surely haven't used it that much. No way in hell, Could the flint possibly chip or break?.
U can’t use the end of your flint anyways. It gets jammed when it gets down to the last bit. Also. I think this test video is bad. Because I believe as my thumbs got raw I wasn’t using full pressure anymore or full turns probably. But I smoke over a pack a day and joints and one hitters all day. Probably use my zippo 50-70 times a day and I get two months off one flint. I also repack zippo insert and it always lites up first strike with all my little techniques. So I barely spin my wheel when I do strike it. New channel by the way lost this one

God is a genius. How many people realize you could do virtually nothing without apposing thumbs.😜 With my typical usage i need to reflint every 1.5 months. OK, now who's gonna test the tootsie pop.
Before watching him torturing himself I would of thought 675 would be absurdly outrageous from what I thought would be 200. I just can’t imagine something so tiny like a flint can last longer then a couple hundred.
Sure that is a genuine insert? It states: Made in Zippo U.S.A. I think it should be: Zippo made in U.S.A.... I hope i am wrong so a lighter of mine actually is real hahaha

The flint left was more than half of a new flint. So 5000 strikes seems more accurate!
