awesome hearing VERY experienced riders praise this bike. My understanding is that it is like the Miata of bikes. Very light, very agile, very quick, and just built right.
Burnsie for President... because he still makes good sense and has a sense of humor about his "shortcomings". Gotta love a test by John. No BS. No fluffing.
I appreciate the clear, straightforward review - coupled with professional non-shaky camera work. Seems like a great starter bike, but I really do wish that the headlight array was larger to make the bike more visible in daytime traffic. The headlight design itself is cool, but just too small. Otherwise, I consider it to be a very sharp looking bike, especially in all black. This one is on my list.
@@yvonjasser The headlights are one of the best parts too. Makes no sense to me. The little slits look futuristic and aggressive. Who wants a giant harley wannabe single front headlight or some ugly GSXR shield lookng thing like on the BMW G 300?
Couple of tweaks to the intake and exhaust and power commander and this will change it completely, maybe go nuts with a cam job and over bore. These new small cc bikes are a blast to ride wide open. After 36 years in the saddle I find these to be a lot of fun and major improvements over the years just make that all the more enjoyable
I am planning to upgrade from Duke 200 ABS to a motorcycle under 400 CC, should I go for MT 03 or Duke 390? what would you recommend from the overall riding experience perspective? Looks-wise I am ok with both.
I Started with the Honda cb300r and just switched over to the yamaha mt03. I am glad I did, more power smooth throttle, and just a much better feel. Don't get me wrong I loved the cb300r, but I am loving the mt03 even more. Labeling these bikes as beginning bikes is understandable, however I feel like you could really get in trouble on the mto3 if you are not careful. Also I have heard numerous reports that the ktm 390 is not reliable. A few reviews have said they have issues. But you have the 200 so you would know more about it's reliability than me.
All these Sallies should get off of John's case. He's maintaining 6' distance. It's more risky going grocery shopping. Why SHOULDN'T he ride and review motorcycles? Besides, entertainment is a critical industry, when the rest of us are at home, right? I'm glad we're finally seeing some *realistic* smallbore bikes. 250s don't cut it unless they're high strung. 300-400cc is the right range for a beginner bike in the USA; we have to be able to maintain 75 mph without being right at redline. I wouldn't look down on old brakes, but would adjustable levers really break the bank? I would take this over a 390 thumper Duke. Would be a tough call between this and the Versys 300, with its plush suspension and a bit more wind protection...

Nice review, thank you. One thing I'd like future videos to feature is the sound of the exhaust high in the rev range. I know the R3 sounds good up there, so it's likely this is the same, but it would be good to cover. I could hear what it sounds like low in the rev range, which is really useful, because that's a feature I like for riding in town.
