My Cellar Spiders who just Vibe in the corners of my house does the same thing. I've been breeding them and keeping them around ever since. In case I have too many and their webs are catching dust instead of mosquitoes, I usually feed the smaller spiders to the bigger ones.
I have no idea why the weird creatures that are us humans get annoyed by mosquitoes and other insects, but fear the little spider fellows who get rid of those nuisances for no cost to us.
@@Nyerguds it is a good comparison. You know how many people like being pissed on? You know how many don't? In this case, the ants like being pissed on and the spiders don't.

Great organisms to observe. Characteristic little buddies :) "Once they learned the trick" Gives an indication that they are highly intelligent for their size.
While they’re absolutely adorable, everyone forgets just how amazing predators Jumping Spiders really are! They’re like the bug equivalent of a Jungle Cat :D
The way people feel about jumping spiders is the way I feel about tarantulas. They’re the hamsters of spider world. While other spiders are spindly legged and drop in front of your face like doofuses, tarantulas just chill there with their soft furriness and look awesome. I had a tarantula as a childhood pet and I’m thinking about getting another one. She was the coolest pet ever. Low maintenance and a good hang...just chillin in my room, guarding against marauders.
One of the cutest things on the planet just happens to belong to a family of the the most terrifying things on the planet (to most people, arachnophobia is the most common phobia)
I find jumping spiders fascinating, and kinda cute. They have personality. I live in New Zealand and there's a common breed that is often seen climbing the walls inside houses. I often see them. 'course they're tiny, about 7 or 8 mm in length.
i've held one before, and i have aracnophobia. But this little thing is so damn cute, you just can't be scared of it. It did make me jump when he moved like fricking barry allen tho
I once tried keeping a jumping spider, but it was so scared of aphids, I couldn't keep it well-fed. I just plain out refused to attack them. So I had to let it go again - earlier than I would have liked. I've kept cellar spiders for a year or so at a time before letting them go - they'll take mosquitoes if you can catch them as feeders. Great video :D
It's 9 AM here. I woke up for online class and UA-cam algorithm is like "Last time you searched about spiders was 1,5 year ago so here cute spiders demolish some Insects. Hell yea"
Great video. Also thx for showing how u created the scene for filming it. Learning something everyday! Btw I'm a fan of Watchmen, and saw the thing on your shelf. ;)
What? This was all done basically in a living room? Thats awesome, I always thought these films are made outside obviously. I must have seen many documentaries made indoors by now. It makes sense though I always wondered how those shots are made. Thanks!
No Aphids were harmed in the making of this film. A really stunning video mate. I was shocked to see you did it in your living room!! I'd hate to know how many hours were spent filming just to get the 3:30mins or so of this fil. I certainly know how difficult it must be because I used to do Still macro photography. Once again, some truly great work. Congratulations.
Nat Geo has been ripping us off! WAW, you filmed this footage in a room. I'm fvcking done. What a gem of a channel. You gentlemen earned a subscription
Great video, the after film explanation was nice, will see it with great pleasure if you put in every video. It's interesting to know how you do it. Greetings from Paraguay!

I call them “the homies” because we live in an urban area and they eat the mosquitos.

It reminds me of all those voice actors for follower mods
"They arch their back and pump defensive fluids."
Well, I suppose pissing on someone is an efficient way of driving them off.
Probably not a good comparison; many species of ants pretty much treat aphids as _livestock_ because they _like_ that fluid.
Nyerguds Maybe it is a good comparison. What if the ants like drinking piss?

Team Candiru I always thought of spiders as arthropod versions of cats
*Spiders are like the tigers of the Insect world.*
