    Thanks Mark. Finally! You and one other youtuber pro (who i won't mention) have said this of the thousands of instructional videos i've watched, and it surprises me it is mentioned so, so rarely. Some perhaps touch on it, or sort of mention in passing, but almost all never talk about why and how this helps the body in a golf swing move the way it should. This is probably the biggest single difference between the average amateur and the very, very good ones or professional level is this one tip. "Chest Down, forward and around", helps with using the ground, sticking the butt out in transition (another thing great ball strikers do), and in doing so helps rotation, getting the club "out in front", compression and ball first, divot second contact. Try this guys and gals! It transformed my ball striking to a plus handicap, without needing to rely so heavily on just short game. Been playing over 38 years... But I wasted 30 of those years not knowing, or understanding this tip, the sequence and why it's so important. Highly recommend 👍

    Excellent ideas here Mark! I'll try it in my practice routine to see how it works.

    Brilliant video Mark that few talk about. Kudos! Always wondered how to get more vertical force into my swing for more power and distance.

    This is a good reminder. I have incorporated this drill a bit and after a few thins and a couple of fats, i have started to see a much better flight. The distance isn’t there yet though i would say i have gained a few (half a club). I use my 8 iron a lot and love the height of my flight with this drill. I don’t feel physically pushed enough to be injured and i am a tender 53 yr old. As an a 18 hcp, i appreciate any additional height in my flight to land soft. My miss has been mainly thin with an ability to throw darts with small movement in my shot. The extra height gives me a little more distance without effecting my accuracy. I’m hoping to gain a club so i can club down across my bag.

    This is Early Extension ! Had to be the one to say this lol. Have tried the drill and have stuck the club in the ground a couple of times but the ball is absolutely leaving the club face like a rocket. Will keep trying to improve the timing, good helpful tip, thanks.

    The force is strong with this one Mark!!! Some interesting ideas here for practice. “Tiger Crunch” just sounds like a great name for a cereal though. LOL

    Left hip going back while the right hip doesn’t get closer to the ball. Or bench behind and left hip back while keeping the right hip on the bench as long as possible. Best feels I was taught for this

    Charles Barkley used to do this.

  • @SoberDaDrunk
    @SoberDaDrunk 11 місяців тому +1

    He said the reason he does it was to help get the feeling of rotation. It's not just a crunch. He's pushing his butt back to give him room to rotate and clear his hips.

    Good video. Been working on this for over a year. One thing that's critical about that move is that you CANNOT steepen in transition or this move will be detrimental.
    I tell my 9 yr old to think "iron man chest down" so he can envision iron man's chest energy thing on his chest...and then just move that down toward the ground.

    Is it a crunch with the torso with an increase in forward bend angle or a squatting motion with a consistent forward bend angle .

    I've seen other coaches say to feel like you're sitting down. I really need to practice this as it helps bring you back to square before you start swinging your arms 🤷‍♂️

    This completely makes sense and yet when I’ve been for lessons on so many occasions I’ve been told that I ‘dip’ too much and then I’d have the old alignment stick placed on my head to prevent it. So I can go back to normal now?!

    I feel like i go up in backswing then down to start downswing then back up during backswing.. up down up as padraig harrington says

    As you mentioned, timing the down to up movement is not trivial.

    • @bigwill6974
      @bigwill6974 11 місяців тому

      You’re right. It isn’t trivial at all, and the feel is probably different golfer to golfer. I’m in the process of adding some of this into my swing, and it has to feel like I start moving down immediately, and keep moving down until I start the downswing. It looks nothing like that at all; it looks normal.

    I won’t classify myself as a good player I can flirt with getting into the 70s but not there yet. I started doing this awhile back because it felt good, felt right crisper strikes and more height and distance. I think another benefit of this is it gets me concentrating on the lower body and lessening the urge to come over the top.

    When I’m working on this I tend to lose my low point control a bit, and that’s what keeps me away from doing this more often

  • @bucknuts8824
    @bucknuts8824 11 місяців тому

    I dont understand how you can manage strike with that much head movement. Ive tried it with my driver, and i do gain speed. But i feel like my irons would never hit center, and would bottom out too low

    That looks like a major timing or sequencing issue for most golfers. I imagine that serious time spent practising with all the modern monitoring gear and informed coaches might get talented and dedicated players to use this profitably. However, I believe this is behind the capabilities of most of your subscribers and viewers.
