Your videos now compared to 5 years ago are MILES apart. In a good way! Started watching the channel for the fun stuff with coach, Dan and Rory. Now it's the leader in correct and up to date golf instruction. Great stuff Mark.
Hey Mark, you are by far the best YT coach for the way you explain movements, feels and changes. Watching you go from 262 to 300 has been inspiring and shows that you can always improve. Ps I love watching your shorts vids simply for knowing what’s at the end…… YOU’RE VERY WELCOME!
Great tips. What I've found is bending the elbow feels powerful, and bending it less can feel weak. Especially as I approach the top of the backswing. As a result, I'd "fix" the issue, but then I'd leak back toward more elbow bend after I moved to another swing thought. So I'd have to repeatedly address it. If anyone has the same issue, a tip from Cameron McCormick (Spieth's coach) has helped me quite a bit by changing intent and giving me something else to do at the top. Instead of trying to prepare to win an arm-wrestling match as you get to the top of your backswing, act like you're losing it (mostly just with the right hand). In the process, let the club move down slightly toward the trail shoulder - this has effect of adding a bit of elbow bend as you start downswing. This tip has helped me slow down my transition and add power, because it both loads my wrists and gives me more time to get my legs involved. I still bend my elbow too much on occasion, but for me it's been more effective to replace the bad habit with an alternative one rather than try to just stop the bad habit. Anyway, sorry for long comment. Just sharing because I spent years trying to find a solution, and this has worked pretty well for me.
That 3rd point sure analogizes well to the "drop" in the tennis serve.( I've followed you long enough to know you are a tennis player as well) An early drop from the trophy position in tennis before the legs fire = loss of power and control. I'm always amazed at how similar the biomechanics of sports that involve core rotation are. I can't wait to get to the range to integrate that swing thought. Great video Mark.
Awesome vid Mark. This is something that I've just starting working on recently. And the result is a reminder of how complicated golf can be, and that you need to stick with it. I am a 9 handicap, and i made this change to my swing. Basically feeling like I was giving myself some width. Had three days in an indoor setting to try and bed it into my swing. Got to the golf course and shot 40 over par!!! HAHAHA. The move is right, but it highlighted that fact that I had some funky face control habits that were compensating for the poor technique. You just have to laugh it off, it's just a game and sticking with it will give my brain the time it needs to rewire and figure the other 40 bits of the golf swing.
I’ve definitely worked on similar ideas about the elbow before. It’s transformed the feel of how the swing feels in a good way! I wonder if there’s some sort of fuzzy band or something you could just put on that trail elbow where you feel it during a swing while on the range… kind of like the old tennis sweat bands. Keep them rolling Mark!
Loved your break 80 every time series! It was so good, I’m afraid to watch any new info as I don’t want to loose my streak! I’m not a flipper! But I’ve still give it a like 👍🏻 keep em coming sir!
Hi Mark. I have seen a kids inflatable water wing used as a device for feeling too much trail elbow bend. Split hand drill like a hockey stick also works to show/feel the elbow doesn't bend as much. You guys in the UK need more hockey in your lives. 😁 How is that knuckles away from your ear drill going? I would like to see you get your trail forearm more vertical at the top, too. That will help you to reduce your elbow bend at the same time. It will also make it easier for your elbow coming down, as it gets your elbow internally rotated earlier. It will feel you are pointing that right elbow 180 degrees away from your target line when you are at the top, and not behind you. Try that. I'd be interested in getting your feedback on how that whole package works for you... the knuckles away from ear... less elbow bend... and forearm vertical. (elbow under wrists) Cheers, mate.
U can use a “floaty” or swimming sleeve on the right arm to help with issue #2 and some with#3. That later “bend” of the right arm is from shallow or dropping the club into “the slot”? Good video
Fairly complex question: on trackman, I consistently have high smash factor/low spin loft. I'm talking above 1.38 with 7 iron and 1.48 with driver. I have trouble generating enough spin (currently 5500 iron/1800 driver) to get a bit more height. My 7 iron ball speed is about 115 and 21 launch, and the club static loft is 32 degrees. Does that imply I do not flip? Should someone use smash factor as a measure of "flip" ?
I'm usually with you all the way Mark but you actually made a small mistake in this video. Tour pros do not increase the bend in their trail elbow in the downswing. You said they increase it slightly and then let it out but that's not true. Other than maybe a couple exceptions, tour pros decrease the bend in their trail elbow immediately starting the downswing.

Brilliant as always 👌
I appreciate your efforts mostly but rather seeing what to do, not what not to do. I can go to the range and witness that.

Brilliant instruction, Mark. 👌
Thanks 👍
@@MarkCrossfieldtruly brilliant, this really hit home for me. Looking forward to using this

What a great idea of the water wing - perfect feedback, must try it
Absolutely first class tutorial.

Mark can you add in more videos on Woods/hybrids and how to be more successful with them?
Do you know of any training aids (other than a swimming arm band) that can help feel correct trail arm flexion?
U can use a “floaty” or swimming sleeve on the right arm to help with issue #2 and some with#3. That later “bend” of the right arm is from shallow or dropping the club into “the slot”? Good video
It's called an arm band in the UK.
Any metrics on how much the average pro’s arm bends on the way down and at what point does it tend to max out?
The player who comes to mind who does the right arm bend motion is Sergio Garcia
Have you made this specifically for me? If so thank you.
Wait, are we supposed to not crush on the backswing but do a little crush to start the downswing?
Surly a full turn (back swing) will correct the folding trail arm
The guys at www.youtube.com/@AthleticMotionGolf have been using Gears Pro vs Am comparisons for years now. Well worth a look.

What irons? Srixon zx7? Pull draw long left miss? occasional super low spin left dipper w/ driver?
@@Toogs713 yep.
Is GEARS showing all the pros they've captured are "crunching" in transition?
Exactly my problem haha
So tuck in that right elbow????
No it starts way before then
Why is it that i, and so many others, can hit down with a driver with a ton of shaft lean\handle drag but scoop an iron with a big old flip? 🤷🙃
It’s all to do with loft, this video explains the driver issue.

The player in the example increases by 3 degrees 👍 he is not the exception. Some hold the same angle as they start down from my data base.
👍👍
When you can measure with Gears then you can comment 👍
