This is literally the best "golf tip" I've ever watched. So much of the contemporary instruction is geared toward full body "forced" rotation; following it has killed my power and accuracy. THANK YOU for this video.
I’m left handed and play right handed. Plateaued out at 90-95 scores with an occasional 85. I obviously can’t get the skipping the stone sensation. I’m wondering if I should switch to playing left handed? 10/14 9:28 MST
I tried these instructions today with moving the right hip in and up on the backswing and the results were amazing !! It's amazing how much power this produces !! thank you Alex
Thank you so much for these amazing, game changing, free lessons. Heavy arms and throwing the club changed everything for me. I'm hitting the driver straight and long again like I did when I was 25 years old and effortlessly. Your instruction is the best I have found. It works! Thanks again. I have confidence in my swing and I'm having fun playing golf again.
Just letting my arms float the last bit to the top (with the right hip tilt) instead of actively thinking about shoulder turn is getting me great results. And hitting flush with the right arm throw is a joy. Thank you.
I have been struggling with my driver for 3 years!! This video FIXED IT! I am driving the ball long and straight almost every time. No topping, no shanks. Thank you. I have been looking for this key for years!!!
Thanks ! I’ve been trying the big shoulder turn thing and all I got was a pulled muscle in my lower back. What you demonstrate is actually what I was doing earlier until some golf “experts” (popped collar Country Club types) on the driving range said I need to turn more like an 18 year old. I am going back to what feels natural and what my body can handle.
I really want to thank you for vastly improving my play, with this video. Six years of weekend play, and I'm finally hitting straight more consistently.
For someone who is just starting out and trying to make sense of the basics, this has to be one of the best vids! It's really made me think what on earth have I been doing in the range all this time. Thanks a lot for this
@@allboutthemojo. I’ve shortened my backswing on all my clubs and I noticed more consistent striking in the sweet spot, but more surprisingly, no real loss in distance. What I think is happening is taking that extra long back swing to look like the pros was actually robbing some power at the beginning of my downswing as I tried to get the club back down to impact. A shorter backswing was allowing me to keep my body connected more, generating torque more efficiently. Your results may differ, but if you’re not consistently hitting the sweet spot on your club, the shorter, more controlled swing should get you more consistent distance and possibly further or just as far as your best shots pulling back further.
This one of the best instructional explanations I’ve seen. This is the same foundation I used for my son’s swing and he is one of the most accurate strikers I’ve ever seen. The one thing I think people may miss out of this video is understanding that throwing the club or path, is throwing it out or right of the target because the body rotation will keep it online/square while creating width.
You’re too kind ☺️🏌️♂️ that’s Wonderful and thank you for sharing. Yep indeed the throw is more to the right but it does depend on peoples feels and tendency’s. If rotation is a little slower, less to the right for example. 👍🏌️♂️💪
Helps you hit a draw more naturally to by throwing them out to the right of the target and more likely to get impact out of high middle or toe of driver
Absolutely fantastic advice!! I knew I was doing something wrong as my back was constantly hurting, to the point I was worried. I've been trying different things and your video struck a cord. That's exactly what I was trying to do - rotate the shoulders. It has been working OK for a long time. Just a few minutes in the simulator applying your recommendation and it's fantastic! I cannot thank you enough.
Yes I have been thinking about my shoulders too much lol. Starting golf in my 60’s so I really appreciate this lesson. Thanks so much for these great explanations and visuals💗
One of the best technical driver instructions I've seen and been able to follow along with! Thank you so much! Really explains a lot I couldn't understand before!!
Makes me smile with your passion to explain the complexities of such a frustrating action for average golfers. Been looking for 60 years! It’s out there .. hopefully
love the instruction have been over swinging for years thanks for the tip have used for two rounds takes a bit of getting used to but when they come out the middle they sure fly thank you again
I have tried this method and it has helped me to achieve a much more consistent swing and great results. The instruction on the video is great and provides a simple routine for me every time I use the driver. Thanks.
Hi. I am Cobb from Seoul. I saw your lesson video by chance. It heat my head strongly realizing i've been doing golf wrong for 18 years. I am wasting more than 50% power all the time at the top of shoulder twisting shoulder, waist, and hip meaninglessly. Let me follow your guidance from now on. I just believe it will give me more consistency, a little bit more power and confidence above all. Thank you very much indeed.
I have been an overswing golfer. This vdo has helped me understand the whole concept of how to create more power and easier swing. I finally have a beautiful swing and longer the distance. Thanks a lot:) Love your technic always.
Just a great lesson for those who are misunderstanding the driver swing. I saw immediate results after watching your video, thank you for helping me correct the mistakes I was making on my driver.
thanks for all the vids, i've been applying your techniques for 2 months now since my comeback to golf after 5 year of absence.. score is beginning to improve and my goal has been shifted from trying to find the ideal swing to finding my own comfortable swing.. cheers
Great video! I am in my 60's and have issues with range of motion and flexibility. I was looking for something that would make a the golf swing easier and pain free. The way you explain this method makes sense to me. I am going to give this a try when I get to a practice facility in the near future. Thanks. Tony
This is gold. I have been trying to figure out why my drives have bent over the years in golf, now 53, and now I know exactly why. Sometimes after walking 18, towards then end of the round as I fatigue, I would hit long, straight beautiful drives and I could not figure out how this was possible. You just explained the whole thing! Thanks!
This is awesome, due to allot of wear and tear on my body due to sports etc, I found the rotation actually difficult. The funny thing is, I can hit quite accurately. (This is my first season getting back into golf at 55) I was out this weekend, and one of my golf buddies noticed my "limited backswing" and said I should rotate more...This video just happened to pop up today. I will take your guidance and apply it to what is already coming naturally to me. Fingers crossed
Great information! It relates to probably 80% of us. The other 20% hit the ball fine with very few issues. They don't need this info. I'm 75 and have struggled to make constant contact, trying to do all the gyrations that I just can't do anymore. Drives are much better and still working on the irons, which are a bit more challenging. Thanks!
What a great tutorial, not just as you say for older golfers, but for me with the dodgy knees. Always a cart for myself on 18 holes, but I don't play primarily for the exercise, but the love of golf. TVM ....Off to the driving range now. ;0
Hi Thanks for posting the video and I like your teaching style. I've tried it on the range but still overswinging and across the line and I can see the club at the top at the corner of my eye. I am very flexible but I can't seem to stop the club overswinging and reverse tilting leading to steep downswing and then shallowing late. Irons are ok (hooky) but if I restrict my backswing I don't feel in a position to hit it far. I've tried all sorts of tips, seen a few PGA instructors but no one can seem to cure my swing. FYI Ball speed 166-174mph, two way miss, 56 years old and play off 5. I'm close to packing it up and feel quiet embarrassed when the John Daly long swing kicks in even though I am not thrashing at it. I have not lost any distance throughout the years, but with natural speed and not knowing where the hands are at the top, it's hit or miss.
Try this ua-cam.com/video/kFNqLjuU5TM/v-deo.htmlsi=lOQoeqRMWRQSye-E as help. Also, it might be you are rolling your arms too much in takeaway. Look on the channel for short swing. We have a complete program called the Short Swing Maximizer on the website too
Love it! Just getting into Golf and I never realized how fun this game is but also how technically tough it is. I was always a baseball and basketball guy and had an elder gentleman tell me I had to adjust from that baseball swing. 🤣 These vids definitely help.
Great stuff right there Sir! The best drives I've ever had were when I had that K-stance and feeling of an underhand grip. There have been times when everything falls so into place that I feel like I should try my luck in a long drive competition. Then there's the other 8/10 drives that compel me to sell all my Golf related possessions and take up bird watching and/or photography instead. Golf is the greatest representation of love/hate I've ever experienced. Also, the "throwing of the club" feeling works well in actual application too. Don't ask how I know... 😄
Blast can’t like the vid as it seems I already had. Pure gold Alex just learning after years to turn the back on the target and not spin the body through the swing. Thank you again.
I thought this was a silly tip or idea but then I thought some more and decided to try it during yesterday's round. 50 kph winds, rain and a waterlogged course was possibly not the ideal place to start but went for it anyway. I used the back swing tip for all clubs and hit my irons really straight and flush, which is something I haven't been doing. Wasn't overly confident with the driver but kept it in play which gave me a chance to score. Think I'll persevere as it's a simple swing thought that seemed to work for me.😇
I’m serious about the process of becoming a better golfer…and this winter practice will focus on the driver. I’ll be using your instruction on driver during my next range practise session. This could be the missing key…🥃
i find watching this and John Rahm really helpfull. im in my 20's and quite strong and seem to get enough power with an easier / shorter wing. no need to go all John Daly while learning the basics
I shortened my driver swing today because I'm suffering super inconsistency Then your video come and verify what I did is correct Thank you for sharing this
The best bit of advice I have had.....from an ex single figure handicapper, now a veteran, THINKING I can still get down to single figures. Its so simple and was successful immediately I went to the golf course. THANK YOU!!!!!
Great tips Alex! I found that I played better golf when I reached 60 years of age, obviously I was over swinging with my younger RAGE! a HUGE/LONG back swing, my partners did the same, so far back there was no way getting back on plane! Now in my 70s playing better than before, its not that often - if anytime I shout four. Now teaching my Grand-son who is just 16, he's a smart young lad - very keen, he forgets that I have been and seen where he is now before my game turned green! I have urged him to watch your blog, yeah yeah yeah he says - but it sounds more like a frog! I tried to get him taking a shorter swing - come on Papa - that's your thing, now my alarm bells are starting too ring, kids of today thing they know every thing! But he might just see the light before he reaches my age, I just hope he is not like many I have seen throwing the clubs away with their rage! Take care Alex till I send you another page!
Thanks buddy I'm 59 both my son's started golfing I have only been 4 times in my life in these past 2 weeks. I was doing exactly the same thing going way back turning my whole body using my arms for all the power . Well woke up one morn from my arm hurting my forearm swollen and yellow purple bruised from my wrist to my elbow. Lol ye I was definitely doing it all wrong. Thanks boss
I have a natural big shoulder turn and the longest I can drive a ball is only about 150! I will try your method the next time I'm on the range! Thanks!
I practice with my irons every day in my yard (3 acres). I recently shortened my backswing drastically and my shots are dead straight and consistent. You are correct.
Hello where has this lesson been man talk about relating to it. I too thought huge shoulder turn was it. Barely walk the next day sore back. Been working with it. Really not a as lot of thinking swing the arms throw the club. Yes thanks. Great vid
I sure wish I could find someone like you to give me lessons where I live. I love the game of golf and I'm almost to the point of being satisfied with my level of play but the one big thing holding me back is I don't hit the ball very far, especially off the tee. I'm 50 and fit but my right leg is pretty beat up, has a knee replacement in it and is half as strong as my left leg. I've never been able to find anyone who is able to think creatively enough to adapt a driver swing for someone like me. My club speed is about 90 and my best drives are 215-220. If I could just add 10 yards to that I would be able to enjoy the game so much more! I am going to try this next time I am at the range or indoor golf center, it certainly looks easy enough!
Art if simple golf is brilliant instruction. When you say your right knee gives you bother have a look at Saguto golf stack and tilt system. Very little use of the right knee 👍🇮🇪🍀🏴🏌️♂️
He there, literally last week in our Weekly club digest for online members a big part was about knee replacement and swinging as we get older. SO much can be improv with the set up tweaks you need. Too much stack without shit when we get slower is hard on other aspects of the body. And guessing you’re up there in Canada:) we offer live virtual lessons, online lessons and in person days or clinics:)
This makes so much sense Too many times I say to myself must make that full turn Since watching this video I’ve been practicing this slow as slow to be comfortable and not thinking or overthinking once I can get to the range to put into practice will completely change the way I think Thanks again
I’m only 18 so I’ve still got lots of flexibility, but my driving has easily been the most troublesome part of my game to the point where I’m reluctant to play on the course until I’ve fixed it. It just feels so rigid and unnatural. It’s hard to describe how I swing in words but I don’t do the shoulder sway, but I think I might be doing the thing you mentioned about focussing too much on rotating the body through the ball, and not just swinging the head and letting the body react. I always hit it with a very rigid club head with no sort of release and is the most inconsistent thing known to man. Heading to the range tomorrow to work on it, I’ll try and take this approach and see if it makes a difference
Hey, it sounds like you are turning too much and too flat. Feel like you wind up like discussed. Start half swings and easy, get the sequence right. Let us know how it goes 💪🏌️♂️
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf well after some practise it certainly has changed a few things. Winding up those muscles rather than just turning have left my iron shots and drives feeling far more ‘explosive’, however it is tiring my muscles much quicker. I’ve also been working on releasing the driver a lot more, I played yesterday and I actually hooked it a couple times which was a first. So I guess I just need to find that balance that lets the ball go straight
This has been so helpful!! The throwing/skipping a stone has helped a lot. I have two questions if you don’t mind. 1. Would you adopt the same throwing /skipping technique for irons? 2. Lifting the lead foot heel off the ground on the backswing helps load and then shift the weight transfer, do you recommend this for driver and irons? This video was great, I hit so many more fairways after trying this!
Hi Jason... Thanks! 1) Yes indeed. I would look at my magic for effortless golf swing video that has a nice downswing feel that focuses on irons. Driver is a little different but not much... set up alters it a bit anyway. 2) Certainly test it. But I would say as long as you can... less power is needed from 6 iron down or certainly 8 down to wedges... Control is key.
I tried this a few weeks back. initially I couldn’t get it until I did one thing….I didn’t try to control club face but purely allowed my rotation to square face up. I actually felt like the club face was coming in side on but hit em long, straight and clean ridiculously often. I’m back again to remind me what I need to do before tomorrows round 😂
Well done indeed! Glad to hear you stuck with it and what I always preach is to add your flavor/feel/interpretation to it and Test Thank you for coming back to share 👍🏌️♂️💪

I thought you are supposed to start the downswing with the lower body and let the arms follow. That’s what Hogan says.

Thanks 4 the lower body through the down swing! I definitely need 2 focus on this in my swing! Thanks again!
You're so welcome!
Love it! Just getting into Golf and I never realized how fun this game is but also how technically tough it is. I was always a baseball and basketball guy and had an elder gentleman tell me I had to adjust from that baseball swing. 🤣 These vids definitely help.
Great video thank you! Can you also show how this can be implemented on lower iron shots and not just the driver.
There’s a new video and another older one that cover it with irons 👍
Great stuff right there Sir!
The best drives I've ever had were when I had that K-stance and feeling of an underhand grip.
There have been times when everything falls so into place that I feel like I should try my luck in a long drive competition.
Then there's the other 8/10 drives that compel me to sell all my Golf related possessions and take up bird watching and/or photography instead.
Golf is the greatest representation of love/hate I've ever experienced.
Also, the "throwing of the club" feeling works well in actual application too. Don't ask how I know... 😄
Lol! Too true on many fronts :) thanks for the feedback 🏌️♂️👍
I carry an old club specifically for throwing. It's a 2 iron : )
Thank boss. After watching your video, my swing and distance really amazing.
Thanks that’s excellent!
This is ingenious! Played in gusty wind over the weekend and still hit most fairways. Gonna try applying to irons now👍👍
Excellent! There’s another lesson from a little over a year ago on don’t turn the shoulders and most about irons
No no@@TheArtofSimpleGolf
9:30-10:15 for myself for future reference. trying to fix a deathly slice. this is gold thank you
Blast can’t like the vid as it seems I already had. Pure gold Alex just learning after years to turn the back on the target and not spin the body through the swing. Thank you again.
Sounds great. Can't wait to try it at the sim this afternoon.
Have fun!
Think I'll persevere as it's a simple swing thought that seemed to work for me.😇
Excellent and well done for trusting it:) I try not give silly tips 😢 Anyway keep at it and thanks for coming back and sharing 👍💪🏌️♂️
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf 😇🙃
I’m serious about the process of becoming a better golfer…and this winter practice will focus on the driver. I’ll be using your instruction on driver during my next range practise session. This could be the missing key…🥃
🏌️♂️👍💪❄️
i find watching this and John Rahm really helpfull. im in my 20's and quite strong and seem to get enough power with an easier / shorter wing. no need to go all John Daly while learning the basics
Exactly! 🏌️♂️💪
I shortened my driver swing today because I'm suffering super inconsistency
Then your video come and verify what I did is correct
Thank you for sharing this
Well done! 🏌️♂️👍 and thanks for sharing. Keep at it!
I needed to hear that. I fell and have irreparable damage to my rotator cuff. I've been bummed that I wouldn't be able to get a full shoulder turn.
Looking forward to hitting the range with this info. Thanks. Will report back.
Great video with practical set up instructions
This is the most helpful driver video that I have found. Thank you!
Your appreciation means a lot! Thank you for watching and finding it helpful.
My favorite golf channel!
Wonderful as always my friend! We need to get you on the Golf channel!
I needed this lesson. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Amazingly simple and effective. Wasted years with wrong or ineffective concepts. At least this worked in my case.
Very good to hear. StY on track and enjoy. Thanks for coming back to share :) 🏌️♂️👍
Brilliant you and Tom Saguto the best easy to understand and logical
Thanks buddy I'm 59 both my son's started golfing I have only been 4 times in my life in these past 2 weeks. I was doing exactly the same thing going way back turning my whole body using my arms for all the power . Well woke up one morn from my arm hurting my forearm swollen and yellow purple bruised from my wrist to my elbow. Lol ye I was definitely doing it all wrong. Thanks boss
It’s certainly friendlier to our body! Hope all is well and keep at it 🏌️♂️💪
What a great communicator you are. Great teaching. Thank you!!!.
You're very welcome and thank you kindly! Hope it’s helping :)
beautiful lesson, my friend! Thank you!
My pleasure!
I have a natural big shoulder turn and the longest I can drive a ball is only about 150! I will try your method the next time I'm on the range! Thanks!
You can do it! Let us know how it goes
A GREAT TIP! REALLY ENJOY YOUR TEACHING!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much this video is absolutely my life rescuer!!
You're so welcome!
I practice with my irons every day in my yard (3 acres). I recently shortened my backswing drastically and my shots are dead straight and consistent. You are correct.
I’m jealous of your “yard” ! Keep at it 🏌️♂️👍💪
Hello where has this lesson been man talk about relating to it. I too thought huge shoulder turn was it. Barely walk the next day sore back.
Been working with it. Really not a as lot of thinking swing the arms throw the club. Yes thanks. Great vid
That’s so great to hear and better lay than never they say! Hope it helps every area and I’m sure our lessons her or on website will too . 🏌️♂️⛳️👍
Superb explanation James 👏👏With a bit of practice Who knows ?? Much obliged
Not sure who James is but I’ll tell him.😊 glad the lesson resonated ! 🏌️♂️⛳️
Love this video and appreciate you for making simple golf tutorial videos. subscribed!
I appreciate you for being here and saying that! 🏌️♂️👍
Thanks! Such a realistic approach.
More than welcome
Thanks, it make sense, I saw all of the things I should have done. I'll try it next time out.
This makes so much sense
Too many times I say to myself must make that full turn
Since watching this video I’ve been practicing this slow as slow to be comfortable and not thinking or overthinking once I can get to the range to put into practice will completely change the way I think
Thanks again
You’re not alone! Keep at it:)
Great descriptive lesson
Glad you liked it!
Great video very much like the John Rahm swing. Up hip movement works. Well explained.
Thank you and hope it helps 💪🏌️♂️
Game changer! Completely sorted my swing, so simple… Thank you 🙏
Glad it helped! 🏌️♂️👍
Thank you for this. Makes a ton of sense. Does this same theory work with every club in your bag? Not just the driver?
Thank you so much for this video. After a year of trying I finally hit the driver!
Great job and glad to hear we nudged you in the right direction
I tried this a few weeks back. initially I couldn’t get it until I did one thing….I didn’t try to control club face but purely allowed my rotation to square face up. I actually felt like the club face was coming in side on but hit em long, straight and clean ridiculously often.
I’m back again to remind me what I need to do before tomorrows round 😂
Well done indeed! Glad to hear you stuck with it and what I always preach is to add your flavor/feel/interpretation to it and Test Thank you for coming back to share 👍🏌️♂️💪
