I am self-taught with help from you and others on UA-cam. I make cards and glue my pictures on the front for birthday cards for my grandchildren and other family and friends. They are all great practice for me, and my grandchildren are framing their cards for their room. I let them tell me what to paint. Some are total failures, so I start over, but I still learn from them while I develop my style. Try painting a snake chewing bubble gum. I had him blowing a bubble. 😂 I am having fun with it.
Good morning dear Paul! Today is Wednesday and I am again happy to meet you in the studio, despite the long distance. Today is the holiday of spring 🌷 and I want to wish all the women of the world spiritual harmony and beauty, love, fidelity, happiness, bright and positive emotions! Dear women - peace and goodness to you, happiness and love! And today I hope you have prepared something spring, bright for us .... the first spring flowers - snowdrops, tulips, as a symbol of awakening life after a long winter sleep! Thank you in advance dear Paul 💋♥️ for the video and I wish you only positive and spring mood! 💐💐💐💐🏵️🏵️🏵️💮💮💮🌸🌸🌸🌹🌹🌹🌺🌺🌺🥀🥀🥀🌷🌷🌷🎨🖼️♥️♥️♥️💋💋💋👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
@@ArtbyPaulClark Thank you dear Paul for the answer! I watched your video, I really liked the second episode - a withered tree and the third episode with the silhouette of the island and a ray of light through the clouds of a gray overcast sky. Very impressive! I especially liked the tree very much, how the photo is all accurately drawn! I did not expect that a simple watercolor can be painted like that! I'll try too, but you are a brilliant master of your craft, and I'm an amateur.... 🎨🎨🎨🖼️🖼️🖼️👍👍👍🙄🙄😏😏🤔🤔😲😲👩🎨👩🎨👩🎨
Your clouds are so inspiring. Who would of thought to start painting with yellows and purples. I normally start with blue and dab out the clouds with a tissue. I’m definitely sharing this video with my students.
I loved this video- I’ve never painted before and I’m so pleased with the tree i might frame it! But those clouds were so hard for me …. Going to enjoy watching more of your videos! Thanks for sharing it’s opened a new world to me!
I was very confused. I didn't know how to paint clouds. I always thought clouds are difficult to paint. Today I learned how to paints clouds with watercolor. Thanks so much for these lovely paintings and for demonstrating how to paints the clouds with watercolor.
Amazing what a great artist can do in just a few minutes! Even your “exercises” are lovely. I learn so much each week. Thank you and Margot for your time, energy, and thoughtfulness!
The clouds are very lovely and I'm eager to give them a try. You're the best, Paul, and I think I'll fill your tip jar once my bills are sorted out later this week. You've taught me so much and so well! I attend a local watercolor class and for our project, I used the tip of the brush's handle for some tree branches, which I learned from you. Nearly everyone there thought it looked great and had never thought of painting with something other than a brush! 😉
I enjoyed this tutorial very much. It’s very challenging to learn how much water on the paper and the consistency of paint and water in the brush. You got it so perfect! Not too wet, the paint did not run too much and no cauliflowers forming, yet your paper stayed wet right through to the finish. You inspire me! Kathy from Toronto, Ontario
Love this. Thank you. I watched your video over dinner. I live in my van so don’t have the best light in here at night. I can’t wait for daybreak to watch this again and paint along. You are so inspiring. 🙏🏻
These videos are so helpful. I love seeing how loose you work here and the joy that that brings. It's also so informative watching your strokes and brush handling. Thank you.
I love trees, they are so beautiful and have individual personalities. I can look at them for hours. I have always felt a connection with them. Thanks Paul, I always learn something new from you and feel so relaxed after watching you paint.
Thank you Paul for your very useful videos. It helps very much, for a beginner like me, to learn step by step aquarel techniques. I enjoy the painting each time when I follow your examples.
What a sense of awe and relaxation I have watching you paint in your tutorials! 2 months ago I did not know you and now I can’t get enough of your work! THANK YOU, PAUL!!
Paul, I appreciate your teaching style. You are very descriptive on how to paint, when to add water, special techniques that others do but do not explain. Thanks a lot for your tutorials. Don Sylvester, Houston, Texas
Thanks for the ''3 Landscape Practices'' dear Paul, I've learned much and enjoyed watching... I admire your technic in general and especially Yellow ochra 's , Cadmium blue's and Payne's gray 's usage tips in watercolor .These short exercises are very helpful because I am not an advanced student yet .So , I am looking forward to practice new ones, thank you....
You make everything so simple. I love your tutorials. I watch others painting similar pictures and get discouraged by their complexity. Then I go to your tutorial and think “I can do this!” You’re an absolutely wonderful teacher. Thank you for sharing your skills with us.😊
Mr. Paul I love all W/colour painting's of yours I even bought one of your w/colour tutorial book and always learning from your demonstration thanks a lot 👍🎨🖌 🇸🇬
@ArtbyPaulClark I am a novice in watercolours, and your channel and your suggestions have been very useful. You are a cool teacher with brilliant advices. Thank you
Thank you, thank you, thank you. 😁 Can't wait to get stuck in. Other tutorials I've seen have flat boring clouds so this is perfect for how I want to paint.
I just got your book as a gift for my birthday. Now I have to try a lot and this three little paintings I have to do too. So I have a lot of work to do. 😄 Thanks, you are really the best teacher even if I a have to watch in a foreign language. But I understand more in your videos, than in a bad german video. And I love your humor. This tree is the perfect motive for me to overdo a lot. 🤣
I've never seen these techniques before and am very anxious to try them!! Thank you for sharing. I've been painting a year and discovered my love is landscapes!! From Daytona Beach Florida
Thank you Paul! I look forward to your Wednesday tutorials! As always I enjoy seeing all your tips and techniques! These are especially helpful! Your paintings are amazing! I’ve always loved to craft and paint with mixed media and I’ve just recently retired and introduced myself to watercolor which I love but I find it challenging and somewhat difficult. I’m trying at the moment to paint Loretta Lynn’s Hurricane Mills for my brother N Law who lost his home and belongings in a big flood in Waverly TN in Aug 2021. Hurricane Mills was flooded but not destroyed thank goodness. Yes it’s a very challenging subject and I probably shouldn’t pressure myself to even go there.. ha! But I’ve painted a picture of his home which was completely destroyed and I wanted to paint the mill as well to give to him as a gift for his new home that was built by the Amish. The mill is extremely difficult for me because of the water fall and stream. If by chance...you find Hurricane Mills to be of any interest to you to paint in the near future as a tutorial I’d be most grateful for your expertise and tips! 😂😁😂
I love watching you paint. The way you use your brush with confidence I hope to develop that ease with my watercolors. I know it takes years of practice..
❤ I love these short exercises so much. Thank you dear Paul! They don’t take up so much time and still develop painting skills and there is a lot less pressure! Especially when you’re not an advanced student. Bless you.
Paul, I soo needed this! I've just come back from about an hour in the car, with my bumbag kit, -doing- attempting to do an A6 (6" x 4") watercolour landscape with a moody sky. I used to do masses of such landscapes, because where I lived in the UK was fenland or Wolds and huge skies of all moods.... _Attempting_ do it is the true version. For some very strong reasons, including the massive move from the UK to France, just post-Brexit referendum, and all the financial challenges that brought, it is several years since I did a plein air landscape, and I struggled. Really struggled. Really, really struggled. Basic drawing, colour mixing (shock!!!), drawing trees, with my _small_ kit? Where has my skill gone!!!! The painting is ok, but ... So to come back and watch the third part of this video was exactly what was needed. I'm in the throes of a very big craft project for our church here, so my own art isn't actually on the agenda, except for teaching (which is currently not landscape), but I'm putting this one and your previous 10 minute video, in my "Painting hints, tips and just plain comment sense' folder to use again in a month or so, to do some serious revision alongside the exercises I usually do with my students. I certainly need it! Thank you! 😊
Hi Paul. I am new to the channel and I want to say thank you. Your teaching is amazing and easy to follow. As an artist, watercolor for me is my primary medium, but I am still uncomfortable with it. Great advice!. There's so much pressure for us that are still learning, so sometimes it feels nice to relax and forget about trying to do the perfect painting.
Thank you for these shorts, sometimes that’s all I can handle! I did some techniques from your old brick and stone lesson, and wondered where I should post it to show you how well it turned out. It’s a stone wall in a park where we use to play as kids. I don’t go on FB very often anymore, not sure if you use that. Also, glad to see you using your three paints for this sky that you talked about the other day. I began using those 3 the other day, and I really like practicing with just those 3 to see if I can get the colors I want.
Paul, it’s such a pleasure to hear and see you at work. The tree has me flummoxed, but the watery scene is one I’ll have to try. Thanks, as ever! Wonderful 😀😃
As much as I love following your mosre complex tutorials, this is such a lovely idea! I'll invite a friend over this weekend and paint together using some of those, as they look such stress-free and lovely to work on. Thank you, as always, for sharing! :)
Very inspired and motivated to practice these techniques. Was in England recently and wondered what the odd, twisted trees were. Discovered a different variety of Elm from here in Canada. Loved them so much I took quite a few photos. Very lovely painting subject. Am gaining confidence slowly thanks to you. Cheers, Diane
Wow. This is the second of your video that I’ve watched many times (the first was the walls that BLEW ME AWAY) - I think your videos can be addictive! These short video bites and your encouragement to just “give it a go / several go” motivates me to just relax and have fun. Thank you again for these very very helpful instructive videos. I’ll keep painting and practicing .. hopefully I will “get it” one fine day 😊
Just found you after a friend's recommendation (we've just started watercolour painting class). I'm looking forward to watching every one of your tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing your teaching. 😃

I appreciate these quick tutorials that utilize different techniques (wet on wet, dabbing with a tissue and scraping with my "magic scraper"). You make it look so easy. My results are a little more "heavy-handed" but I shall continue practicing. Thanks again.
I learn as much from these short lessons as I do in your full tutorials. Sometimes it’s good to have a quick paint.
