Dear Paul, The exercises you propose today strongly demonstrate that watercolor has an effect on our emotions, our mood...and even our health. Focusing on colors and their movements allows us to let go and no longer focus on our own worries and constraints. Thank you for accompanying us on this journey that brings joy, peace, and the desire to live better. I enjoy your tutorial and participate almost everyday in the FB challenges. Sel Avi = Isabelle
I just want to thank you for your sincere work. I want you to know that right now, at this moment, you are saving my soul from the horrors of war. It gives me the strength to survive, fills me with the dream of tomorrow. I wish you inspiration!
I agree with you, I also like watercolor painting that has both structures and loose effects. That’s one of the reason I enjoy watching your videos every week. Thanks again.
Thanks, Paul.....just the tonic we all need sometimes! Love Watercolour Wednesdays.... thanks for taking the time each week. There must be times when you think you'd like a rest......
Dear Paul I have just had great fun doing your three watercolour exercises. Thank you. I love the way I am learning to paint more loosely by your way of doing things, especially your instruction Not to Fiddle!!
Love those exercises and will certainly try! It’s just what I need atm! Thank you so much! Love the idea of The Edge of Control. Even I fall off it regularly! 😂
Hi Paul Thank you for this video. I have been painting since this June. Your videos and others make learning fun. I still have a ways to go, thankfully you have a lot of videos I can watch.
I've only been painting for a couple of years so I've never been stuck about what to paint. I think these are lovely little vignettes for cards. Thank you
Hi Paul I found your channel by luck couple of days ago and I wish I found it early ... every time i get bored or not in the mood of drawing I go directly to watch a video of yours .. thanks for your efforts 😍 Your student from Egypt 🇪🇬
It's really hard to let it go, something I need to learn to do, instead of striving for perfection... Thanks for these exercises, excellent, relaxing, and good for the mood!!! A good way to relax and let go with my brush!!!
Wonderful exercises! As always, Paul, thanks so much for sharing your talents for painting and teaching with us. One of my very favorite channels. Cheers!
Paul it’s gorgeous and I have started to relax and work freehand no drawing, I had already found that I am most creative and I love the way the work turns out. Thanks for the lesson
I needed this after a whole morning of "failures" although I know they are not really failures because I learn something from them. But these little exercises were welcome and invigorating. Thanks Paul
I am just beginning my watercolor journey and this video was exactly what I needed! I love that you are very clear on what colors you are using and the brush sizes. I have been experimenting with how many different effects one can get with one brush. I am going to try these 3 exercises....thank you so much!
Thanks for that simple, easy-to-follow stress-free tutorial. I loved them all. I was waiting for a tiger to come running through the trees. Loose is hard for me, but I keep trying. Fiddling is definitely a problem, and I will do my best to put the fiddle down along with my brush.
Muchas gracias Paul!!Una gran alegría ver sus clases, además de tu bondad para hacerlo, Dios te bendiga , tu esposa te regaña con buen humor como la mía!!
Thank you for making these videos. I am so glad Jenna Rainey did her video talking about her favorite UA-cam artists! I immediately looked you up and we’re not disappointed!
My family gathered to watch a bit of your watercolor Wednesday magic. We watched you create an apple... & your comments kept them following until the flower... you sharing how you like to know what you're painting but also like to see the watercolor do its magic was spot on!!! I love this!!! Short ones that even I can paint!!! Several artists were talking about just paint loose this week 😳... idk, it's a process for me! HA! Thank you 😊 Sir Paul for your inspiring lessons, with love from a California Gramma ❤️
Hi! Paul Clark, you are a great teacher. Thank you so much. May I request you, please demonstrate painting 'Mabry Water Mill, Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia', especially in spring and summer blooms.
I'm 75 yr old Canadian guy trying to enrich the latter chapter of my life.. I've messed with acrylic but gravitate to watercolour..I very much enjoy your site & will unquestionably follow & do my best. Thanks Paul
Thanks for helping teach this wonderful medium. You’re a great conversationalist. Spread this those schools who have not. Teach people how to teach. Teach seniors. Spread your talents for and wide. 🎉. Travel here to Canada’s and hold competitions for your nest artist oh the summer. Put it in a museum. Teach the most expensive are not always best. Hold a new ten week course and reward with basic watercolour tools. You’re an inspiration. God bless 🎉😊😢
Oh man, just the thing, thank you! I just got some 'autumn' colors watercolor paints, which I don't need but they were so pretty. Anyway, these exercises will be great for playing with them. And it occurred to me, these exercises would be great for testing paper, too. I got some cheap watercolor paper and I don't think it behaves well with good paints. Now I can play, with no expectations, just fun. Again, thank you.
Thank you Paul, I was really disappointed at some of the work I’ve been doing, but I sincerely want to get better in watercolor. This exercise gave me some hope. ❤
Sharing this video with my students. Especially because you talk about control. One student of mine likes to be in control. I think this will help her immensely.
"The Edge of Control" - I love that. The music is great. Thank you for giving us beginners some simpler exercises (It'll be awhile before i can get to the Covered Bridge!) BTW the recent line and wash pumpkin tutorial was wonderful. I tried it on three different papers with a few color changes. Gave me confidence to paint it more than once.
Perfect timing! I spent the afternoon yesterday pondering as to what I 'd like to paint.....and never got further than the pondering 🤔. I need ponder no longer 🤗
Good afternoon, dear Paul! You can read your fan's mood! IT's autumn blues, nobody knows what to paint and create. Again you did a great job, waking up the desire in your pupils-followers. Thank you and have a nice day! Greetings from Moldova, Lilia
Ok, I've only done the first one so far but wow! I am shocked how quickly it went and how letting go and following the instructions loosened up my painting. Thanks!
What a fabulous exercise in watercolors. Each painting was a little gem worth framing. They would make a lovely gift. I thank you so much for all your work in creating these valuable tutorials for us.❣❣❣
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I enjoyed it a lot ! I practiced the 3 exercises and I really liked how the flowers turned out. I'm a beginner , but following the simply and clear instructions, looking how the vibrant colors flow in your paper while listening the beautiful music....all together ...inspired me!
I love these watercolor exercises because sometimes mini lessons give me flexibility to experiment without the pressure of completing an in depth painting. Love your teaching style. I'm learning a great deal from you. Thanks 🙂
Another great tutorial Paul. Such a great set of exercises to try, especially love the colours of the first exercise. Thank you for your time and encouragement
Thanks Paul

You're so welcome!... you can do it!
Me too! I fiddle so much I should be an accomplished violinist by now ... 😉
OMG, you really make it look easy! A true master. I'll keep trying.
I can't believe it. I actually liked my results in all three of these. I think we may be on to something here . . . thank you, thank you!
At last I’ve discovered how to do a loose poppy! I wondered why you dropped in clean water blobs. Now I know! The effect is magical
Great to hear - thanks!
