    I LOVE these old posters. I had no idea you could paint this style with gouache! This is so exciting!
    By the way, your videos are so lovely - I like to make a cuppa and have a sit down and watch one on my TV before having a go at a painting. I don’t bother with regular TV shows anymore. This is all I need to relax.

I have learned so much from Paul and others about watercolor and then discovered your tutorials for gouache! I have been doing more mixing on my own and inspired to use it with more projects. Thank you both for being so generous with your skills and time it takes to teach others !!!!

    @Paul Clark you made me laugh with your dark side comments, I came to watercolour from oils after a 10 year break from art didn't want the mess and chemicals, I'd not thought about gouache. Will definitely be giving the gouache a play now. Enjoy your trip think of us shivering here in the UK lol

    What a refreshing tutorial, three different methods and different but similar. Just love the 1930's poster style took me back to school days, learned "stylisation" rendered in acrylics. I am on the "dark side" trying hard to cross back into the light 🤣. Have an oil underpainted, ready for the completion when it calls me again, but loving water colour challenge. Much more difficult. Thanks again Paul

      He could, but it wouldn't look the same at all. If he uses his regular style, it'd look just like any other watercolor painting he's done, which is loose and semi-abstract. You can easily visualize how it'd look. You need gouache (or acrylics) to make it look as graphic as gouache allows you to.

    • @lainareeves3755
      @lainareeves3755 Рік тому +1

      @@EugeniaLoli Thanks for your comments Eugenia. 😊 I wouldn't want it to look the same. I want it to look like his typical watercolor creations (maybe a little more detailed than normal) and not this graphic illustrated style of painting. Thanks!

    Always been a fan of old railway poster art. Thanks for demonstrating how it was done. Keep on splatting!

    WOW! You opened my eyes to gouache. I love all 3 - can't decide which is better than the other. Thank you and hope you're having a grand time in La Gomera :)

    Fab demos of the different applications. Love your river painting. I've been experimenting lately with a watercolour underpainting before adding the gouache layers, best of both worlds! And thanks for mentioning Sarah Burns, she has been my go to for gouache tutorials.since I started using it over a year ago and fell in love with its versatility

    You are an expert painter in all three mediums….always liked the rail posters but didn’t realize they were done in gouache..the flat wash gives such a different look..the opening graphics of All Creature Great & Small has been illustrated in the same way….
