Dear Paul, thank you for supporting my country Ukraine. This is very important for me and our people. When I draw with you, I don't think about war. I drew 25 pictures of you. Thank you very much.
Just brilliant - you are the King of reflections! Thank you so much for sharing - it will certainly “hold us down” until you return 😂. Hope the trip goes well 🤞👏
I am just a hobby painter and I love this community I found that is supportive of one another. I have learned so much from Paul and others about watercolor and then discovered your tutorials for gouache! I have been doing more mixing on my own and inspired to use it with more projects. Thank you both for being so generous with your skills and time it takes to teach others !!!!
Good morning dear Paul! The week began with a series of terrible earthquakes around the world, and I sincerely condole and sympathize with all the people affected by the earthquake in Turkey, Syria and other countries! Lord, save us from trouble, war, disease 🙏🙏🙏😢😢😱😨😢 !!! But despite this, I'm glad to see you again in a new video! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your work, I liked the video and like it as always 👍! We have a warm weather t ° + 3 + 6 ° C. the snow is melting 🌦️☔🌧️ and it smells like spring. @Paul Clark you made me laugh with your dark side comments, I came to watercolour from oils after a 10 year break from art didn't want the mess and chemicals, I'd not thought about gouache. Will definitely be giving the gouache a play now. Enjoy your trip think of us shivering here in the UK lol
Omg, this was phenomenal!!!!! If I understand correctly, and maybe I don't, Gouache seems to offer the greatest flexibility? Cannot tell you how much I love the last, flat painting. Just beautiful. Thank you!
I’d love to see a few more gouache paintings also. What started out looking a little messy, it became a beautiful painting just as I knew it would! As only you could do because you are a fantastic artist!
Oh my! 3 in 1, with so much technique to observe and absorb. The little dibs and dabs and flicks and fleck at the end always turn you paintings into works of art; thats the mastery. 👍🏼
😂 “crossed over to the dark side, using oil and acrylics” so funny! I am just halfway there. Still loving using watercolour and still wanting to see all your brilliant work. Thank you!
Thank you for taking the extra time to snow us all about guache. I have been wondering about trying it. Love the poster looking one! Hope your trip was smashing! Going on a painting retreat is on my bucket list.
Oh, i really like that. I struggle a bit with Gouache, no matter what I try to paint with it like with Watercolor. But I think I give that illustration style a try.
Oh my gouache, this episode is a gem! (I can’t help it, I’m a mom who loves a good dad joke.) I love how you show gouache’s potential. The 1930s rail poster is so special and it’s lovely to see you pay tribute. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for your demonstrations of gouache painting. Your paintings amaze me every time! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with all of us!!
These were great. I particularly loved the last one. I am getting ready to do a line and wash of the house a friend grew up in. After watching the last one you did, I have decided I will paint it in WC and a second version in gouache. Thanks again for all you do.
Thank you Mr. Clark your painting still are amazing. I've been praying for you I thought I heard you refer to your wife as your late wife. I'm sorry for your loss and pray God will help you to carry on your wonderful career! Again thank you!!!
Great Job Paul, another victory. Loved all three demos. Used to dabble in acrylics maybe it's time to give them a go again. You'll be missed but left us with much to think about. Sherry
What a refreshing tutorial, three different methods and different but similar. Just love the 1930's poster style took me back to school days, learned "stylisation" rendered in acrylics. I am on the "dark side" trying hard to cross back into the light 🤣. Have an oil underpainted, ready for the completion when it calls me again, but loving water colour challenge. Much more difficult. Thanks again Paul
I said “wow” so many times! Amazing paintings! I loved each one. Your skill in gouache blows me away. I’m definitely gonna try to paint these. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Praying you have a fun trip. Maybe someday I’ll be there. 🙏🏻❤️
Beautiful. Loved them all, but the last one was simply amazing!! Hope you continue to do more of these, and hope you guys are enjoying your trip. As always, thank you so much for sharing your talent❤
What a wonderful demonstration of how to use gouache! I’m just trying to get more familiar with this medium and have fallen in love with it. Thank-you for posting this! 😊
Thankyou, I love gouche, I use it...intermingling with watercolor.... I'm not a professional...just do it for my peace of mind..makes me happy. I've sold some..which was a great satisfaction. Thankyou for your tutorials!! Very helpful.
Paul, the last painting reminds me of the pictures on crates of fruit from long ago. I just did an image search of that and found many beautiful examples which would make great gouache subjects. Thanks for all you do!
Fantastic especially the approach to the poster artwork! It's simplicity is a wonderful lesson in less is more and dealing with basic shapes. This was also a lot of fun to watch!
I was looking forward very much to see what your choice of liquid refreshment would be. What will Mr. C. compliment his apparel with today, I wondered! You never had one and this is wet February with not so much of a drop of Adam's Ale! You must be feeling dehydrated after all that work. XXX
Thank you Paul. Loved seeing all the different looks you can get with gouache. I am considering crossing over to the "dark side" and trying out oil painting. LOL! This was so fun to see. Hope you are enjoying your trip. Love seeing the pictures from there. Thanks again!
Hey I always see gouache in the stores but I usually never bother to buy them knowing we are in a watercolor group. Thank you for explaining this that gouache is just like acrylic and watercolor. Thank you for the beautiful paintings and the when I go to town next time I am definitely going to buy gouache.
I hope you are having fun right at this moment. I received a box of Holbein gouache for xmas!!! Haven't opened them, yet. Now, I can get started. Thanks so much!
Greetings from America. Thank you so much for sharing your gift. I really enjoy watching you paint and share your techniques. I’m completely new to art. I don’t have stable hands to do real canvas. I use digital, which isn’t as difficult but I miss the texture of real canvas. I do love your art. It is so beautiful. 😊
A huge thanks for sharing this wonderful video with three different types of results with gouache!! I have been working with this medium for about 5 months now & have not realized how versatile it was to paint with. I have been painting kind of like the 3 ways & just didn’t know that all of those ways were positive results. I am also thrilled to know that I am following both of those great gouache artists who you mentioned. Thanks for helping me figure out how to use gouache & watercolors!!!❤Wishing I was painting at your events!!! Hopefully you’re planning to share of tidbits of how things are going there in future videos! Have a great time!!!
Thank you for teaching me about Gouache w/c paints. I never knew they existed!!! But I am so excited because it gives me an entirely new way of painting!!! I appreciate, so much, your knowledge!!!!!
Enjoy all your tutorials Paul no wonder you have such a huge following thanks for passing on your knowledge and techniques it makes a huge difference to my own work and I am sure it is inspirational to many others
Wow - these look like so much fun ! I can’t believe the last one took you 5 hours - I’ll probably be at it for a week 😂 hope you’re enjoying La Gomera - one of these days I’ll join you
Hi Paul… absolutely LOV this illustrative, flat wash/travel poster style … been thinking of trying this out so this video helped me understand the technique… thanks for explaining gouache.. never really used it much but now understanding it better. Have a wonderful time in La Gomera… excited to see what photos/subject matter u bring back… 👍
This was a great video. I’m not a gouache painter, but I’m thinking I should expand my horizons and give it a try. I especially liked the “poster” effect. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Dear Mr Clark - thank you for generously sharing the watercolor technique of your first painting. My dad is a member of Singapore watercolor society. Your paint process reminded me how my dad painted. I am using gouache now and your demo helps. Wish you the best of health!
WOW!! Triple WOW!! Thank you for doing this!! Sent to one of my daughters who is looking to work in gouache! Awesome tutorials! Have an incredible time on your trip!
Paul, you did all of those planes? That's amazing! I love the old military paintings like that. My husband has a poster of St. Mary's Lighthouse in the northern part of England and I think Whitley Bay in 1930's prints. He and his family would spend summers in that area. Thanks for a throwback to the railway prints of that time.
Perfect timing Paul I’ve just bought some gouache tubes and struggled to fully appreciate the techniques that can be used. I love your work and always feel inspired by you. Enjoy your time away, it would be great if you could post the odd gouache painting tutorial from time to time after you return!
Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved watching this. I have recently gotten back into painting after a bad year and bought myself a gouache set, and this has just completely inspired me so much, thank you. I loved all 3 pieces but think I have love the 1st and 3rd most
OMG Paul this is so incredibly timey. I love your watercolour tutorials and recently I've been painting more and more with gouache. Excited to get deeper into it with your video!
Thank you Paul for all your time sharing how to do gouache I loved all the paintings fantastic hope your trip goes well for you .thanks again I will buy gouache and give it a go thanks to you.👍👍👍
Oh no, I've crossed over to the dark side! 😱 I love dabbling in and exploring all art mediums. Lovely to see the shout out to Sarah Burns, another great and very talented artist youtuber. Thanks to you both for teaching us so much 🙂 Great tutorial Paul, showing us various ways gouache can be used. It really is a very versatile medium. Loved the river scene 😍
Interestingly I was following your watercolour tutorial for the little wooden boat and I just wasn't feeling it so I picked up a set of guache I was gifted and tried guache for the first time. I loved it. The painting turned out really well so I think maybe that's where i might find my style. I will continue to try watercolour but if I'm not happy with it I can go over it with guache and I'm not wasting expensive paper. (Archers really isn't cheap!) Love your work.
All lovely paintings Paul. I love watercolor so much that I don't even want to try other types of medium. But it was inspiring to watch you paint such different types of paintings using gouache. I was wondering if you would please paint the third one, Robin Hood's Bay again using watercolor instead. I think it would make for a wonderful watercolor tutorial. Please?!!! Thanks for brightening our days with your tutorials. 😊 I hope you and Margo and crew are enjoying your time in La Gomera.
He could, but it wouldn't look the same at all. If he uses his regular style, it'd look just like any other watercolor painting he's done, which is loose and semi-abstract. You can easily visualize how it'd look. You need gouache (or acrylics) to make it look as graphic as gouache allows you to.
@@EugeniaLoli Thanks for your comments Eugenia. 😊 I wouldn't want it to look the same. I want it to look like his typical watercolor creations (maybe a little more detailed than normal) and not this graphic illustrated style of painting. Thanks!
Love this! I got introduced to gouache through Sarah Burns videos - so cool to have you reference her. AND, enjoy your "working" trip........ so jealous! I live in Washington State and it is beautiful but at this time of year cold, and wet. So of course I envy your travel destination!!!

I always love your relaxed videos, Sarah, especially your Scottish wandering vlogs.
I’d love to see you two get together for a gouache/watercolor plein air video someday. That would be cool. ❤ The Borders are calling 😊
