    Literally the most brilliant observation in the video. Not only does it speak to Birdman’s talent and insight, but it serves as a good explanation as to why the Guardians of the Galaxy movies work so well. Star Lord’s dance number in the first movie is a great testament to the mask of levity he wears over his trauma and longing for a family, for instance.

    • @geofff.3343
      @geofff.3343 Рік тому +13

      It's really not a mask, it's literally him having fun. Why would you wear a mask where no one could see it? Yeah, he's got trauma, and traumas stick. Some traumas are worse than others, but it doesn't mean he can't have fun. You're looking at Star Lord when he doesn't have to perform in that opening. The masks are the airs of suave and competency he tries to put on to impress people.
      It is perhaps the greatest folly of writing to think that just because a character goes through trauma that they stop having fun forever. It's that kind of mindset that leads to one-note 90s grimdark action heroes. Even Warhammer 40K has characters telling jokes and playing chess and that franchise is dark, dark.

    • @richardeckert883

    It's always fun to see what Birdman is gonna critique next, because I'm not subbed to CinemaSins. That being said, I honestly wasn't expecting this one. It's very strange to see Jeremy make such odd critiques about a movie that was clearly putting "the rule of cool" above all else. Don't get me wrong, the plot was still very good, but above all else, it was stylish. It really feels like they were just padding video length, with a lot of these "sins", because most of them were just Jeremy failing to understand a fairly simple plot and premise.

      @@as3609 I'm not too good with tone online, sorry. I agree that the line between offensive and funny is arbitrary, but it's important to respect people's boundaries. (e.g. i'm ok with people making jokes about my race, but certain jokes i'm not okay with)

      As another lesbian trans woman, I agree, however the line between being the butt of a good joke and being insulted with an extremely thin veneer of potentially comedic subtlety seems to be thin enough that not many people can tell the difference

      @@josharko111 And that would be where I personally draw my own line. I never make jokes with the intention of hurting anyone. Whenever I make fun of religion, it's usually to get people to laugh, or vent about the clowns that get upset when I'm joking about their religion.
      Only group I really dislike are Flat Earthers. They're the worst.

    Also at Sin 32 7:52 Jeramy ignored the fact that when most people say, “my parents wanted a (insert opposite sex)” they usually mean when they had them (the person who said it) even if she wasn’t the older sibling no would ever think it’s unreasonable for someone to want 2 sons. It’s also a common phase and saying “they didn’t want a daughter” is not and it make a way more sense for someone to use common phrases that can describe them

    Too fucking true, I hope that taskmaster is taskmaster when she comes back.
    Because let's be real, the gender of taskmaster has never mattered, what matters is they are a badass villain that is a legit threat to most heroes all while being a "normal human". So I hope when she's not controlled by the chip she is taskmaster as taskmaster should be, but I'm not expecting to get that.

    While “boomslang” is a funny name for a comedy movie, it’s a terrible snake to use in this role… it’s very docile and seldom strikes, it also has small fangs that rarely inject venom in the rare defensive strike.

    Time for the best train ride with some favorite sins: 1) Pointing out that you double sin does not absolve you from double sinning, and is also my job 2) Skip! 3) Or get you to start watching Thomas the Tank engine? 4) Did it not once cross your tiny little mind that she's the elder sibling? 5) Well, to be entirely fair, it is a big a$$ phone 6) Hikkikomori? NEETs? 7) All this BS 8) Jeremy sings in a video cliche 9) Is this an assumption that rain automatically extinguishes fire? Because... uhh.. yeah... 10) Yeah, we see. What's the problem? 11) In other words, Adam22's wife
    Sentence: Ride the bullet train

    7:12 more on this point, for all his talk of “coincidence” and “fate”, the themes of luck are prevalent and explicit in this movie. Ladybug, Brad Pitts character, is explained to have an aura of bad luck (a chasing storm cloud, if you will). While the Girl is said, and frequently shown, to have good luck. Him running into the Wolf was not coincidence, it was an 18 carat run of bad luck.
