- Kano's debut single was the 1980 international hit "I'm Ready", combining elements of 1970s disco, funk and R&B while extensively using synthesizers and percussive handclaps as well as raw-processed and vocoderized vocals. Kano's self-titled debut album also included "It's a War", "Ahjia", "Now Baby Now" and the instrumental track "Cosmic Voyager". "I'm Ready" peaked at #21 on the U.S. Black Singles chart.

I'm a white guy and not ashamed to say when I was in high school this was blasting on my truck stereo!!!
This hit song created an even greater hit song called "Whooomp, there it is". LOL
Why do white people say "I'm white" every time they comment on a song made by a black person/group???
Wow so brave!
@@manfocused Ironic because Kano were actually three white Italian producers sometimes fronted by a black vocalist called Glen White 🤔
Hellll Yeahhhh 🕶🦾 but u know what that is? Just feel good soul music and u got one 🍾🥂✈🙏🤟🎺🥁🎙
wish we still lived in these times miss the early 80's
Me Too🎶🎧
So do I 🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺
Hello from 1982! Didn't like the 21 century So I came back!
Glad I was privileged to be in it! I love to dance.
This is the new dance show. This was in the 90’s.
One of my all time club favorites. The hand claps. The bass. It was “electric” to hear this thumping in the club. Lights going. Smoke and perfume in the air. Ahhh the 80’s club days.
The good old days. Love that bass
" party over here party over there"
Love the bit about 'the perfume in the air' brings you right back!
@@mariapowell8450 that's how everyone 50 and under remembers it! Had never even heard this song until about 20 years ago
I still have my vinyl from 1980. Love this tune.
Best times of my life...great era. Love disco funk. Nostalgia
As do I.
Yes it was. Big fun times
This is still my go to "feel good " track. Timeless groove!!!
Yeah, I feel ya . It's my "learn how to dance" music. LOL
Man I love that synth melody 🎵
Yea Synth was used heavily in 1980-81.
Seems like 1980 was the final overflow of the 70s lol. The first few years of the new decade seem to be an overflow of the last couple years of the last decade
Masterpiece: Italo disco forever...
It’s a pure italian Italo Disco 🇮🇹.
This was DEFINITELY the jam!!!
Rock on...Class of 82 in the house.

Never forget hearing this for the 1st time, driving along Hollywood Boulevard in the year 2000. East Coast, well Northeast, NEVER played this kind of music. L.A. Rules in that sense... It will be like 3:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon and suddenly this will come over the stereo... its really funny yet awesome
90’s dancers dancing to 80’s music. How much smashing went on that night!

was scrolling through comments and couldn’t believe that nobody had yet mentioned DJ JESSE THE BODY, who was the in-house DJ for the New Dance Show!!
@@treesear Exactly. We must be the only native Detroiters in here!!!
@@damonwashington7205 believe it or not, I'm not a Detroit native, I'm a Philly jawn, but I became obsessed with the New Dance Show and The Scene when I was first getting into techno in the early 2000s- a friend had VHS tapes of a number of episodes, and we would watch them over and over again! I have spent some time in the D tho and have much love for it
I was surprised to read that Kano is an Italian band. From Milan, Italy.
Nah i gotta look that up
4 of us did this at the 8th grade talent show. Wish someone had a camera cause the principle was even dancing in the table 😂 🎹 🎶
This was my joint when I was a kid. I had just moved to Cali from Philly when this dropped. I didnt know that Kano was a music project out of Milian, " It was among the Italians, real greaseball shit"
😂😂😂 this was before my time but I think of the west coast and Jeri curls lol
A late 80's baby but diso and house has residence in my soul
Word. Back in my high school days (03-6ish), me and my friends would drive around Metro Detroit, getting stoned at like 2 in the morning, all weekend long. The only radio station worth a damn would have "Old School Saturday Night", shit was the best.
I still remember hearing Holly Dolly (the b-side to this track) on Old School Saturday Night n just losing my shit. Been into Kano since that night

Yes people, the 80s were this much FUN !!!
Used to dj house parties at Santa Rosa JC in the early 80s. Put this on and all you would see is sweating bodies getting down on the dance floor! Good times and great memories of a distant era of great music...and my youth.
KAZAKHSTAN 🇰🇿
during my 10th grade summer vacation s i spent in mexico' Kano ripped the airwaves every 10 minutes' with ''im ready '' and '' Holly Dolly'' aswell as the poundind beats of the club favorite Now Baby Now' and its a War. all have been sugar coated to house or other beats but OG Disco plays it best
