Kano was a music project formed in Milan (Italy) in 1979 by producers/musicians Luciano Ninzatti, Stefano Pulga and Matteo Bonsanto. Kano was one of the earliest music groups to usher in a new style of dance music called Italo disco.
Kano's debut single was the 1980 international hit "I'm Ready", combining elements of 1970s disco, funk and R&B while extensively using synthesizers and percussive handclaps as well as raw-processed and vocoderized vocals. Kano's self-titled debut album also included "It's a War", "Ahjia", "Now Baby Now" and the instrumental track "Cosmic Voyager". "I'm Ready" peaked at #21 on the U.S. Black Singles chart, while "It's a War" and "Ahjia" were also big hits on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the U.S., reaching #2 for five weeks.

This takes me back to my teenage years. Wish I could go back to that time. I'm 55 years old now and this is still the jam!!!!!

I know what you are talking about
Same 55 still alive! Best of times we enjoyed the best dance music era!
Many many nights I danced to this! 61 here
Same age and still think 80s music was some of the greatest dance music. Definitely feel good music.
Music back in the days had the right balance of electronic elements and natural instruments. It actually sounded more futuristic and mystical than today's music, ironically. It makes me think of other planets, the future, and the wonders of the universe. So it only makes sense that this kind of music is featured in Guardians of the Galaxy
That was one of the best songs played at the roller rink back in the day.😁
Yes it was!!! then if the DJ mixed it... you would have blisters from rolling.
So much fun🕺😎
ah may be a tie with more bounce to the ounce but yes girl roller skating back in the days , men give me back those days anytime . here in toronto.
This next skate is for 13 and under.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS IT WAS ALONG WITH FIRE CRACKER
As a 54 year old I can attest to the fact this was the first song that evolved Pop-Locking'.

I'm 54 and I agree
I'm 53 and u r correct did and pac jam

Well im 50, wow 40 years ago
Talk about nostalgia. The best memories, in Brooklyn, New York, the jams at the park battle of the DJs.
Class of 1981 here. If you know techno music in Detroit... the DJs in our city took these type of records to another level. I feel blessed to be friends with a lot of them. Some we lost due to covid. So I'm in tears and smiling while I jam to this!!
Class of 83 here. New York, I hear thee!. Awesome times. I am greatful to be born at the right time. Crazy times we live in now. But its ok, we are trained old school. We bad ass!!... take care.
Sister City Chicago in the house!

You go Gloria 😀👍🏽 Same here!
ALL RIGHT GLORIA. I LOVE DISCO TOO. I NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY PEOPLE DIDN'T LIKE IT. THEN IT HIT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SOUL. NO BODY RHYTHM. TAKE CARE SAFE AND HEALTHY
I've always said the best era of music was the disco era. That era was like a liberational movement. People felt free to be themselves. Unlike today those times were more simpler. I remember vividly seeing KC & The Sunshine Band live. They were phenomenal. Dancing, singing and playing instruments superbly. Music and talent were authentic and real back then. The fashion, TV, movies😍 Every aspect of the disco era was magnificent. My all time favorite disco tune to this very day is the original long club version of Anita Ward's Rong My Bell (ring-a-ling-a-ling). Great memories.
@@arturodelagarza3213 They didn't like it yet now a days artists are sampling it left and right.

I hear you talkin
Ooooh freaking yes. Those were the days, the beautiful days in music.
Rediscover
This jam back in 80 would pack the dance floor. The clap would start and the people would flow into the floor.
Right-on Robert. When we heard the clappin' and that first bass lick, everybody hit the dance floor. Best years of my life.
Yep.
And I'm wth you They don't know nothing about our music.
The space ship was upon us in 80 and in the clubs all the children were definitely ready. They couldn't help but be ready
100%
I'm over here jamming and reminiscing on the good old days
That's Right!!!
Same here in 2020 at 60 back at safari skating rink Inkster Michigan
Im still. Wit. That. Shit
I kinda miss the early 80's,alot of fun.
The clapping at the begining we'd jump up screaming "that's my jam!" and dance as long as the 12 version such fun growing up
*smile!*
So many were "MY JAM!" 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅
Damn right about that. I throw my hands in da air and dance like I just don't care 💃💃😁
Skating Rink-- '79 to '81. Hella good!
You got that right!!! :)
It's been 40 years since I graduated from High School and this song was our theme my Freshmen year in college.
1980 College Freshman also Darrel. This jam was the Joint ! I'm 60 now.
I love to pop-lock to this song.
I was six years old (1981) and this was what i was listening to . My older brother, who was 19 at the time, would hang out in front of our house with his friends and play this song. Back in the day when guys would just open their car doors, turn on the stereo and play music all night. I miss those days.
Love how the group TagTeam honored this group in their song " Whoomp There It Is"
They sampled this?😮
I loved skating to this in the 80's, brings back memories
I found it! After all these years!!😉I've been looking for this song since I was 18. Now I'm Over The Hill.....😃

I' M READY 1980 !!!
I’m 57 so far and played this at parties as a DJ and still enjoying it today! The essence of a classic is time doesn’t affect it! The song needs to be in Quill’s Walkman in the next Guardians of The Galaxy!
How come you ain't still doing a brother you could do it I'm 70 and doing it
1:37 you got a lot to offer
Evolved to Producer and changed my music motivation to Jesus! But thanks!

This instantly takes me back to a time when guys wore suits to the club & the ladies looked sexy but still very classy! WDAS Philly LIVE Saturday Night Dance Party!!! Brings back awesome memories 🔥 🔥 🔥
I concur. The Ladies were lookin' fine.
Right-on Man.
I am 58, I used to jam to this song at the Fun House in the city in the 80's. Good times...man If I could go back in time....
Right❤!
👊😂👊 I was young and str8 up buck wild back in those days and times. Cookouts and spades by day and str8 clubbing by night. Man I was like the energizer bunny. I kept going and going with barely any sleep. Now I need 8-10 hours sleep and most likely a nap in between. Great memories though. In the immortal words of Tyrone Davis,"If I could turn back the hands of time."
I was 19 when this song came out and it is still one of my faves
I'm 53 years old. And to this day, I still have no clue what the lyrics to this is. BUT THIS HERE WAS MY SHIT!!!!!!

This song was the sh*t when I was a high school senior (Class of 1980). I love European disco artists from the 1980s, whose music was sampled to make rap and hip hop hits. Remember Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express (1977)? Planet Rock is my all-time favorite rap-hip hop song because of the samplings from Trans Europe Express.
That's Right!!
Interpolation, not sample! Peace.
Great taste sis E.D.
We the Dj's of the USA put this shit on the map don't forget that buddy boy hey hey hey
Class of 83, I remember here in NYC channel 11 PIX used the instrumental version of this song as the back drop to their weekly video game show for kids
I remember waiting for this to be played on the radio so I could record it.
Kip Diggs One finger on the red record button and the other one on play. Stopping it before the DJ started talking. Great memories bro.
lol! same here. And sometimes setting the tape by going back and forth (FFWD & RWD) for the next song to be recorded...

Without Kano, they'd be no "Whoop, There It Is!" (1980)
Yeah, probably. Heard that instantly.
So true.
Exactly! 😄
So glad to have stumbled across this song on youtube. I never knew the name of the song or the group so I could never find it, but I remember roller skating to it back in the day! Never would've guessed it was an Italo disco song from 1980! It sounds just as fresh today as it did then.
That beat tho 🔥 nothing like today’s music!
Had to comment as my name is victor too lol

41 years later and I still want to dance to Kano - I'm Ready. I need some old man break dance moves bad, something where I can robot walk out to the grand kids, say I'm Coming, Coming, I'm Coming after you," and then let them have it B-boy, or rather B-Grandpa battle style. Don't worry, I have medical insurance.
We are now considered to be the "OG" that represents the Geritol days! Fuck them! I can still pop to this better than any of these narrow assed b-boys! This song reminds me of a house party I went too. Back in the 80's we always could find a good house party. We were about 16-18
one of my favorite old school jams circa 1980!! heard it today on the radio and couldn't believe it...old lady dancing and snapping fingers and singing my head off in the car! had to look it up!
Pretty sure the volume was raised.
I remember I went to the disco one night the DJ was a friend of mine he waved me and he pointed at his ear that was our signal FOR SOMETHING NEW was coming up next I waited OMG from the first notes the sound has hit me like a bomb making you dance you wanted or not still one of my favors
Great story!
