Everyone talks about Mozart writing an Overture the morning of the performance, but nobody mentions that the orchestra musicians had to get the parts and PERFORM it THAT NIGHT.
Orchestra musicians (definitely today, and probably back then too) are used to having very little rehearsal time before performing. This may not have been that unusual!
I’m mostly astonished at how anyone got a *copy* of the music! Were they all crowding around a single copy trying to make their own transcription of their part?
You need some sort of communication between the composers in order to make it work. Like for the first two measures, the second part is told what the first note of the first two measures are. Then for the next two measures the second part shares with the first part the first note of each measure. Other than the key and time signature, no other info. This includes the duration of the note shared. It's up to the other composer to decide whether to make a consonance or dissidence on that note. It would probably also be a good idea to select a mood or tempo as an artistic prompt.
So the procedure is first part write 2 measures and share the first notes of each measure. Then the second part composes 4 measures using the notes given from the first as a guide, and then shares with the first part the first two notes of the 3rd and 4th measures. Repeat as desired.
I like how their individuality seems more visual lately. Eddy is expressing his stylish model-like self & Brett seems to be even more of his cute-messy self. Both adorable in their own ways (and fun & interesting & skilled).
I remember when I made a similar challenge with one of my close friends. But instead of two violins, you needed to write a FUGUE for the piano. We had a great time listening to the sacrilegious masterpieces that we created

I actually quite liked the so-called "Nightmare". I love how different Eddy's and Brett's minds are when composing. Brett just wings it and it turns out unexpectedly pretty good. Eddy, on the other hand, actually thinks about what he is doing and it always comes out beautifully. I would like to see you guys write a multi-movemnt piece for two violins (it does not have to be long) and Eddy can write the first movement, Brett can write the final movement, and you guys can work together in the second.
It sounds like the waltz is waltzing (running) from the nightmare and the nightmare is the real person who actually waltz. TLTR, Brett is still a genius in cursed music.
“Improvise, do not think to much! … Oh it’s 3/4 I forgot” -Brett This is Legendary 😆 I love all your videos so much!!! I get so excited when I see a new video posted lol.
For me (a non-musician), this video is kinda like an intensive talk, not by words but by composition. One minute or two minutes are so short that they can just write down appearing directly in their minds. Swapping is just like to expose what in mind without any disguise to the other. In addition, so surprised that the outcomes are pretty good. Looking forward to listening to the two pieces in completed version.
Both pieces were excellent, but I was especially drawn by the Nightmare in C# minor. Wish it could have gone longer, even into a full length composition.
The second piece was honestly really good and pretty! I would've thought it was a historical piece! The first one is exactly what I thought was going to happen in this video XD
Guys, writing an overture in the morning of a performance is not as hard as you think. Remember its just coping music from the opera that he as already written into a summary. You were having problems coming up with ideas. He already had all of the ideas already done, and now had to combine them into one final thought. Think about taking your top 10 favorite musical excerpts and remixing them into one killer overture. The orchestration, melodies, harmonies, textures, and dynamics have already been done, now its just combining ideas and working on transitions, and maybe adjusting keys to make it all fit. Knowing Mozart, he wrote the Opera in a way that the keys world already work together. Its more of an arrangement exercise than composing. Mozart probably already had a blue print on where things went before he wrote it down.
I just love how I am not a musician and English is not my first language, yet, those two guys never failed in bringing me joy. Just their personalities plus their passion and love to what they do makes me soo happy 😁

it should be a new segment when twoset compose or exploring other genre but add classical element like lo-fi before. It’s really fun and give me an inspiration to make my own🫶🏻 maybe next they can try make violin hip hop music with producer shaun?👀
Will you guys compose anything for your world tour??!! Really look forward to it!! I have to say, you guys are being humble towards your composing ability. Yes you guys are not professional composers and can't compose as fast, but most of the melodies you guys created in the past videos (including this one) sounds good, and most of them are composed on the spot!! I bet they will sound beautiful after some polishing!!

I’m sure you guys had to take some composition classes in college. I dare you to dig up some of your old composition assignments and perform them.

Yeah Eddy should compose more. As a composer, C# Minor is a very fun key to compose in if done in the right way.
They should compose a duet but each person can only make one part without seeing or hearing the other.
You need some sort of communication between the composers in order to make it work. Like for the first two measures, the second part is told what the first note of the first two measures are. Then for the next two measures the second part shares with the first part the first note of each measure.
