I’ve been building a environment for my team class and your plant videos have helped me greatly to understand how to make plants and texture them. Thank you.
I love this! I made a similar bush (but mine's more round) and I actually enjoyed following the steps. I've been very disinterested in 3D lately and this video was really fun and made me feel good about what I created. Thank you~
I've never considered transferring vertex normals. In all my studies, college and up until now, I've never actually seen a use for that. Thanks for the video!
as a first semester transfer, watching this was super mesmerizing lol! even tho i've only worked with maya so far, i think these are really helpful just for getting used to visualizing a concept???
What is the name of the process you have done at 3:22 or what is the equivalent in blender I love your videos, I watch carefully, I have never used maya, can you recommend to use it? I am a bleder user for 4 years. Do you think blender or good yeast? I'm doing the same thing I did in Substance Designer, no depth, can you explain your settings?
Transferring vertex normals from one model to another, I don't really know what the process for it is in Blender but must be doable am sure. I am mostly a Maya user, but if you are already good with Blender I don't think there's anything extra Maya offers over Blender in terms of modeling. For modeling it just depends on your preference.
@@3dextrude I understand but with a click it does not let me select the gradient ... You will see I am a student and I see things on my own to try to improve. That's why I watch his videos and if I can't do something I ask him Thank you very much for answering
Sensei... Won't the leaves that are hovering just above and in front of the main shapes around the object cause overdraw due to transparency issues? By the way, it looks Lovely!
yeah you have to be really careful specially when applying random position. One way to avoid it is to have separate sets of leaves and blend them using a height blend instead of using one tile sampler for everything.
Is it better to use those shapes + trans2Ds + blends or make a custom shape in ps/ai and import to use fewer nodes? (Assuming the custom image isn't ridiculously large) Thanks for all the great videos. You teach me so much! =]
You could just import the image as well. The only reason to make the shapes in Designer would be if you want to have control over changing the shapes as you go in Designer. If you already have the shapes made you can just import those.
how do you keep up with all the knowledge inside your head? i mean if i learn and practice one software..i kind of forget the other one...and you use maya+zbrush+substance painter+Substance designer.
bad no, slower than using other methods yes :) i.e. use scatter in 3dsmax for these types of things and the leaves can be done in a few seconds with shapes in photoshop.
dafaqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq.... Can I know your name plz? I need it to write it down in the History of Digital artists with gold letters.. You know after Da Vinci, its your name :P, Mannnn just

Awesome, great to hear!
Always interesting to see other peoples workflows. Dope work dawg
Ваш канал великолепен. Видео очень познавательные и интересные. Спасибо огромное за контент :)
Спасибо!
hats off ,perfect tutorial for bushes networks or low poly ones for game assets
I've never considered transferring vertex normals. In all my studies, college and up until now, I've never actually seen a use for that. Thanks for the video!
It's mostly used for tree leaves, specially when you have a canopy with good volume.
Love your skills to create this kind of models. Wow! You're so cool 😎
Thank you so much 😀
Love your work, man, it's very inspiring, keep it up.
Thank you!
Good work man. Especially i liked designer part. keep it up
Transferring vertex normals for what ? Am aspiring artist ❣️
To make the geo look a bit softer, this can be done manually as well or not at all depending on how it looks in the intended target platform.
What's going on at minute 3:00 with the Sphere and the Normals, what's the purpose on that? Thank you.
Man, awesome content! Keep it up.
Thank you!
sounds like ContraForce5))
great skills, dude)

Awesome! Yeah I think focusing and learning modeling/maya first is the best way to start
Amazing , like so much your videos
Thank you!
By chance, do you have a full real-time version of this tutorial for the stylized bush in Substance Designer?

@@3dextrude thank you i did what you did i bought blender a very good example these videos.substance. I'm watching to learn about
would something like this work if i was going to make a hay stack? but altered the shapes in which the leaves would be?
yeah, this method should work for that as well.
Perfect Job friend!
Thank you Michel!
Awesome work as usual. Can I just ask though, what do you use to do the final rending turntable at the end? Designer, maya, marmo toolbag? Ty man
Marmoset Toolbag
@@3dextrude thank you very much. I appreciate your reply! 😁
did any z-fighting occur during the making in terms of duplicating the planes?
Not that I noticed
Hey! Min 5:15 how pick the gradient?
I used pick gradient and drag across the picture reference, I didn't like the result so I did an undo and picked the colors manually instead

amazing frend good tutorial
Thank you!
Lol genshin workflow ❤
Hey love your work! I've been trying to get into 3d recently, can you explain the reasoning for transferring vertex normals?
The main reason was to 'soften' the look of the normals on the bush model so when light interacts with it looks less blocky.

make sure to cut the cards very close to the shapes of the leaves to avoid having too much overdraw.
@@3dextrude Ohh Yes...! Can't believe I forgot something so basic. Thank you for the reply.
What are you doing with the normals?
essentially softening them so they look soft from almost every angle by transferring normals from a sphere.
@@3dextrude smart! Thanks for responding!
no matter what i try on this the leaves penetrate each other...any idea on how to fix this?

Can you tell me how you rendered the opacity map in marmoset?
I couldnt figure out what i did wrong, last time I tried it.
I set it to masked under the opacity for the material
@@3dextrude okey ty ill try that

You have to use them alot and eventually you don't need to think about it; it becomes automatic in your brain.
У вас лицензированы программы? (просто платить, например, мне дорого за их все)
Да, я плачу за все лицензии
Nice result, but this is so much faster in 3dsmax and photoshop :) Designer for this is an overkill :D
It wasn't too bad I don't think :)
