Maynard is a great example of living life, continually challenging yourself, continually growing, saying "why the f not" instead of can't, being present in each moment while having fun and a sense of humor. I love him for it.
Yeah he’s also a huge d-bag😂
“I embrace my desire to… swing on the spiral” 🤘🌀
-MJK
He was ambitious as a young man also in HS in Scottville Michigan 1980' ish. Never even did any drugs. Athlete, thinker and a "Go Getter". His own mind. The best and most amazing part of man.
@@Headroomtalking The Reaper never "lived". We can.
Lots of money allows you to live that life
If you told me 10 years ago we'd have a TV scene where Sammy Haggar, Guy Fieri, and James Keenan would be together I would have said you're crazy.
A guy in a 3 piece suit, a guy in flip flops and a roadie for Sacred Reich are walking down a vineyard hillside in Arizona………..
The Sacred Reich reference, should get an immediate star from the original poster lol Top draw 🤣😂
Sacred Reich. One of the best Metal bands of the late 80's and early 90's..
This is a weird as it gets. Somehow Maynard always gets the job done. Always. Cheers you weird fucker!
..... The groundskeeper walks by and says: "what a bunch of tools"
Roadie for Sacred Reich? Elaborate? :)
Possibly the best interview I've seen MJK do. I feel I can definitely see a difference in him when he's talking with someone he's got a bit of respect (maybe not the correct word) for. These are my favorite to watch & listen to though. Feels more honest & open I guess.
Sammy is such a gift. He does not get enough credit for his career that is for sure. Maynard is a brilliant mind, look at all the things he does and does them top notch on top of it, that takes a special mind.
Truth !
Sammy should get credit for getting rid of the 55mph federal speed limit if nothing else.
What am incredible interview. Please don't ever cancel this series. Sammy just has an amazing personality that people feel comfortable to talk to and there are so many musicians out there that we would love to know more about and what they are doing now.
@island, let’s be honest, Sammy at first was struggling with a connection with Maynard. Maynard is a tuff code to hack!
@@Jay-ju9jw That's just how Maynard is though. He's closed off to everyone at first, and some people can get him to open up. I remember watching his interviews in the early 90s and it was painful how the interviewers couldn't get him to give up anything. He's just very very introverted.
been to his wine shop. there's two ways to get up there. one road is an absolutely amazing drive. it was what i imagine driving in the mountains of bolivia would be like. breath taking.
Everyone should do that drive from Prescott to Sedona to Flagstaff. 89A is it?
@DM-il1hf not sure, lol. I came from California to, what I would guess was the west side, up the mountain to the wine shop. Left there the opposite side and went to bearazona then to the grand canyon. Awesome trip. Gonna do it again. Long drive, though, lol. Started in Sacramento, ca.
Always noticed the King Crimson influence in Tool. Maynard is just a friggin' genius..
Danny is actually the King Crimson fan
Maynard is a genius.
I listened to KC for the first time after years of being a huge Tool fan, I would say it’s closer to copyright infringement than influence.
Saw them play live together, with KC as the surprise guest, Fripp, Belew and all. For me, King Crimson blew Tool out of the water. Absolute masters.
I think it was the lateralus tour, or slightly before that.
@@rumo510Wow, that is pretty awesome! What an event to experience..
We got 45 minutes. 😂 Sammy knows how long it takes for shrooms to kick in!
I've had a dose nearly fully set in after 15 minutes. It was crazy. lol. Just that one time. I also happened to be listening to tool as well. Haha
Maynard is the reason I listen to rock n roll music as a young very young kid aenima came on the radio and I was blown away by every part of the song and it completely changed my life I'm hoping to venture over to grab some wine soon as I am vacationing an hour from his vineyard
Geez take his member out of your mouth and also you can stop arching your back now😂
This is the food/music collab Ive always needed.
Greetings from Walla Walla! Love all 3 of you guys!
Walla Walla is gorgeous
If I walked into a vineyard and met Maynard...I would be in absolute shock😮. He dresses so refined off stage. I guess I never realized how brilliant his thoughts are and what his life is like off stage. He is very polite.
Are you people serious? 😂
Maynard to Sammy: "I will smack you."
Maynard is so awesome. He's admitted not being a people person yet overcomes it with humor and honesty. I'm glad this video wasn't too long. They interrupted soooo much. 🍷
Maynard obviously couldn’t care less about music…it just a means to an end!
Real musicians dedicate their lives to their craft!
Maynard has 3 different bands, actually 4, and you say he doesn’t care about music🤦♂️Puscifer didn’t exactly make money for a long time, if it even does now, he supported that venture out of his own pocket. Your comment makes zero sense.
@@shelbydupree6157 there's people that work multiple jobs too, but do you think they do it because they really like those jobs?
Its usually little guys like him who talk a big game. His ego is insanely massive. Douchebag , but damn he puts on a hell of a show. He is an amazing singer, but fuck he is such a douchebag.
My watching this seeing Maynard decked out classically but also thinking of his stage performance in a pink pajama onesie (1993). Such a creative mind.
Lol, that's the exact reference I went too
Roger waters?
Maynard visited Penfolds Winery in South Australia and received advice on being a vinter from one of the premier producers in the world. His wine speaks for itself.
I got to meet Maynard through Sip On Wine in Melbourne during the Lateralus tour.
did he go to the tank farm in Nuri?
Man is the only living entity on this planet who can pass on information, (old or new), from person to person, and more importantly, generation to generation,---and we should. :) Talk with the old guys. Some of them figured a lot of stuff out that is not taught in school. :)
@@EarthSurferUSA Man is the only living entity on this planet who can pass on information, (old or new) - that's absolute bullshit.

Damn that's a lifetime achievement man im jealous 😂
Hell yeah...giving JM her props. She is off the charts.
I sat at breakfast place on a barstool about 10 years ago and met the man who signed Tool to a record contract. It was winter and the guy next to me had a tan on him. I turned to him and said "you look well rested" He told me he had left California and settled on the East coast. We started talking. He told me he ran Zoo Entertainment at one point. We talked for close to an hour. The stories he told me... Damn.. He unfortunately passed away. RIP Lou... Thank you for the stories...!

I rarely ever watch any interviews with Tool band members because I don't want it to ruin for me. Not sure why I clicked on this one but glad I did.
Same
Is that because it is often that we get let down by who we thought were hero's?
I have never heard anything about Maynard serving in the military! Thats awesome! Im surprised that i havent seen anywhere talk about that before this
I wanna say it was an episode of the WTF Podcast where Maynard talked about testing high enough to go to officer training. Basically he had that fork in the road where he could pursue shooting up the chain of command in the military or abandoning it all to pursue art and music. I think we're all pretty thankful for the choice he made.
@fcon2123 I gotta see if I can find that. And yes the world is now better off with MJK out of the military lol Knowing that he's been in the military though actually makes a lot of his lyrics make even more sense. Also I now see why he is so stoic and proper with certain things
"Why would you grow grapes in a hell hole like this?"
"Well, Sammy, if you knew anything at all.."
This kat lives his best "odd time" life, love it... \m/
My neighbour was the one that sold him the grapes. Paso Robles CA. i'll never forget that story.
Huh. Small world! 🍇
Well come on we want to hear the story now 😁😁😁😁
@@nathankennedy4263 My wife and I had our neighbors over for dinner. They live three houses down from us. We sat down to eat and my neighbor ( who's in the wine business) says to me Hey Russ you ever hear of a band called "TOOL". I responded with why yes I have. Well I just had that guy over at my house. I think his name is Maynard and gave me one of his CD's called 10,000 days. He's an interesting fellow I must say. Are they a popular band? My wife and I just started laughing. Small world.
I'm 100% Sicilian, born in Arizona. Sicily is literally like Arizona with the Ocean. In my kitchen is a photo of my Dad in the Vineyard when he was 26 years old.
Catania e Castiglione de Sicilia. I have properties in both. The vino is better in the valley behind Mt Etna. 😊

I saw this interview a few years ago and forgot it existed. Thanks for reposting!
Wow 😮😮😮Two of the greatest rockstars of our generation.. and Sammy Hagar 😂
🤣
Agree 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣Guy a Rockstar 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He is just just an amazing, talented guy. So humble. Wow.
It's so cool that Steve from Blues Clues hangs out with Guy Fieri and the Red Rocker!
Maynard was a 13 Foxtrot (Forward Observer), same as me when I was stationed at Fort Ord California. I've never known anyone outside of my Army cohorts to be in the same MOS
Maynard your an awesome dude love watching you perform 😮
Excellent interview, Sammy I’ll see you at red rock in August. And also in St. Louis the end of the concert tour gonna be a rocker. A red rocker.
Maynard definitely gave us the TOOLS to make life a little better and wiser within ourselves!💙☮️
I love the song A Stranger by A Perfect Circle.
@@baneverything5580 you know that Maynard is younger then Sammy and all the other legends of his time but still fit perfectly in with their generation of music and this video proves that! Legends live on 🤘🏼💙☮️
10000 days means lot to me,mom had a stroke years later she passed. I miss her.
Sorry to hear that. I lost my Sister in 2011 and I still cry whenever I listen to 10000 days 1 & 2. It gets better over time, but there will always be a void.
Sammy and Guy look like they could be brothers.
They are
Stepbrothers? 😆
From the same arena
Sammy looks a little like Val Kilmer
Been involved in music in my area almost my whole life. I taught music worked at the local music store played in bands. Its weird to think he grew up so close to where I live. I prolly drove past his house more times than I could count.... Never met him never even knew he existed. Just floored me when I found out he was from here.
Dude. I did that breathing when I ran cross country. That’s wild. 🤘🏼
Thanks for the video
Maynard was writing his biography with Lateralus. Spiral out, keep going.
Tool 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
My husband and I went in 2012 fantastic town and wine! Looking forward to the pizza. ☀️
Sammy with a surprisingly amazing interview!
Your first thought is: This guy is a rock star? An amazing guy.
Maynard is really living the fucking dream.
He earned it 👍
I have to say "How cool!" Amazing video.
Maynard's mother is Italian, and her people were involved in wine production in Italy. That's how Maynard's interest in wine-making developed.
Holy crap, that doesn’t look like the Maynard I knew from the early Tool days. He looks like the role he’s playing now as a wine maker and restauranteur
Interesting about the breathing rhythms. I used to play with them as well. Interesting way to personalise the conversation.
What a group this would be to hang out with!!!!
Good work Jim man. Well done. Well done.
Out of Atlas shrugged movie, part 3. You are in it. :)
Doug Johns
Musically love them both!
good to see Maynard in flavor town
I used to buy shrooms from a guy in Phoenix too. 😂
Maynard and Sammy are both badasses!

That’s cool he is helping his community.

@@WhiteDove73-888 The one I have was made in the USA. Just be smart about where you purchase it.
Aerosmith's "Dream on" was a song Jim/Maynard liked in HS. But the song lacked "action", that is needed for you to make your dreams come true. :)
The achievement of your actions, obtaining your dream, ---is pure happiness. That is where real human happiness comes from. Personal achievement.
The more free our society is to do that, the more options we can think of and achieve.
Maynard is truly a mad genius
FLAWLESS VIDEO
He makes it sound like he figured out the Verde Valley was suited to growing grapes, but the truth is there have been grapes here for over 150 years. He isn't even the first of the modern local explosion of wine making. He's doing good work, but he came to the party late.
dude has an amazing mind, bet those wines are amazing!
give me a job Maynard 💚
Maynard and Sammy are really slumming it here
James never fails to impress. Wouldn't you just love to work for him, pretty much doing Anything, hahaha. a super cool dude and Hey, I saw your fucking concert @ 1st avenue in, I think, 93'- been a fan ever since.
Wine making - endeavors of the bourgeoisie. It not only require financial resources but also often involve a social element that connects individuals within affluent circles. Congrats Maynard.
I wanna try some of his wine. Just so I can say: "It's good stuff, Maynard!"
Thank you for your service .

I can't find his wine anywhere. I've been looking for years, and it's insanely expensive online but that might be the only way to get a bottle
I would love to come out there
Great show guys
Damn Sammy is an awesome interviewer..
Love it
Great interview.
"Not a good place to grow wine grapes!" Jim: "Step right in, and let me introduce you to a fragment of reality that you missed. No no! Don't reject reality if it proves you wrong and you can't admit it because you think your entire psychological structure will collapse in a sea of falsehoods. You want to reshape your perception to accept reality,--so you think within it, in order to change the world, or figure out basic problems in your life." a bit long. so what.
:) Well done Jim man. Well done.
Legends in the world! Getcha pull brother 🍺 333!
Love it...
Absolutly amazing!!
My ex-husband is his cousin, and as a wine lover (not an afficionado), the Keenan winery label was a treat to me.
the only part that sucks, is if you travel to Jarome to go rock star hunting and have some fun, the workers and managers at his restaurants don't appreciate the music, don't know how BIG maynard is, almost blew me off when I asked a few questions about Maynard and Tool. Was dissappointed.......traveled from TX to get blown off by gatekeepers, even the bartender threw away my 14 yrolds "slushy" sayng NO DRINKS ARE ALLOWED. The GM didn't give two shits either.
Yeah they're not very fun people. Maynard's fans are why they have their jobs in the first place, they funded it. Odd that they don't embrace that.
I'd be a cool retirement job for a fan. I want to visit with my husband even though he doesn't drink anymore but sad to hear that.
The wine changed color during the interview. Magic? Water into wine? Or maybe they just drank it!
Love him.... ❤
I agree we want grass roots business people in public office. But we have to understand what our freedom really is in order to stand by the convictions we had when we started our businesses in the first place. Or we will be talked out of it. Start here: "Free enterprise belongs to the citizens of individual liberty protected by law, (in the USA mostly), who created it in the first place.", (That is you and I kids.). Good place to start thinking.
Maynard always said he’d see you down in Arizona Bay
OUTSTANDING!
Truly, one of a kind.
Nobody is buying wine anywhere in the world right now compared to before.
What's the name of his wine. I wanna buy some. Try it out.
My mind is blown finding out Maynard was in the Army🤯
was chef dirk in reservoir dogs? he looks like whats his name
I had no idea Maynard was so soft spoken like that.
Sammy, do a show with Mark Farner. I love to hear Mark's stories from the road.
Now that's a great idea!

"Yeah Hagar was in it, like interviewing maynard or something, at his vineyard; and Guy Fieri too, he was there..."
How does Maynard think worsening droughts in Az, will affect crops? Especially, at higher elevations like this? Thanks, if anyone can answer.
They should have transitioned from that traditional Italian folk music into Tool’s own heavy version of it!
😅
Incredibly cool 😎✌️🎃
Oh boy. Maynard’s lav mic is sounding rough. Shoulda got a boom mic in there….
Maybe Sammy will ask a question, then wait for a answer. And I'm a big Hagar fan.
