Available Now: mercury-studios.lnk.to/ZZTopDoc
Produced by the Emmy award-winning Banger Films, ZZ TOP: THAT LITTLE OL’ BAND FROM TEXAS tells the story of how three oddball teenage bluesmen - Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard - became one of the biggest, most beloved bands on the planet, all while maintaining a surrealist mystique that continues to intrigue fans and entice onlookers 50 years after the band’s inception.
Buoyed by candid band interviews, never-before-seen archive, animation, celebrity fan testimonials (Billy Bob Thornton, Joshua Homme and more), and an intimate performance at the legendary Gruene Hall shot exclusively for this documentary, “That Little Ol’ Band” runs the gamut, from the absurd to the poignant, from squalid Texas bars to MTV heroics, all in celebration of this notoriously private, but larger than life, power trio. In the end, ZZ TOP: THAT LITTLE OL’ BAND FROM TEXAS unravels the extraordinary tale of a band whose image we know, but whose story we don’t.

Frank: "How much Texas shuffle do you want?"
Billy: "Yes"
General Patzer yeah like I’m waiting on you.
Paltzer: "A couple hours or so would be just fine Frank, you know, like we used too." Frank:" just let me know when you wanna change chords". Dusty: nods.
Jim Simpson ; dont take it personally ya ya.
He actually looked like "how effing long are you going to stand there and wank solos while I sit here plopping the same beat I've been playing for 50 years back here?" to me.
@@DandyDoesIt haha...no kidding....
I'm not even a guitar player but Billy Gibbons has to be one of the coolest mothereffers on the planet...and one of the top people I'd love to meet.....like that would ever happen....
MY DAD ASKED ME TO PLAY THIS SONG AT HIS FUNERAL AND I DID IT. I LOVE YOU DADDY. ROCK WITH THE STARS!!!
You are good son

I'm very sorry about your dad's departure, he knew about good music.
Nothing honours a good person’s passing like celebrating his life with a good party and his favourite music! Rock on with your Daddy!

If the dictionary needs an example next to the word “cool,” these guys better be the ones. RIP Dusty, glad I got to see you perform.
"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C.”

Sad, really sad. Heaven, "Have Mercy"
I just love Frank's drumming on this!! From the little tippy-tapping right at the start and throughout!!! He looks like a race car driver putting on the gloves, strapping himself in and - off he goes! He's so intent and focused! He keeps it all in sync!!! And those full stops and restarts - amazing synchrony!!! You can see from their looks at each other that they're all in it together like one finely-oiled machine and loving it!!! LLOOOOVVVEEEE!
Die 3 super Drummer speziell
That's the result of three skilled players who have kept their egos in check enuf to have stayed together, culminating in the sort of tight sound that only results from half a century playing together. I guarantee they aren't as tight with the new guy, even if he is every bit as skilled
Братуха,да ты маньяк ритма❤
I agree with you... I try to find him in the Rolling Stone 100 best drummers but I couldn't find him !!! What do you think ???

This classic is now 50 years old and sounds just as good as when it was new. It's more popular now than when it was new.

The great music you can achieve with just three guys. Incredible.
I can never get tired of this song or this band....
Right on!
I love this song basically I never get tired of ZZ Top
@@josearriola7537 , I know, it’s a magnificent obsession right? A national treasure!
@Greased Lightning yeah, I’ve heard a number of stories about how personable and cool he is one on one, and it comes through in interviews as well. Watch out though, they don’t call him the “Texas home wrecker, heart breaker for nothin.” Cool story, thanks for sharing !
Greased Lightning A good history to tell!!! 😜👍🏻 Salu2.
Frank has always been underrated. Hid drumming is sincerely incredible!
Ne t'inquiètes pas, les bon le savent
YES! Like Ringo Starr, both underrated and amazing drummers!
I love Frank and Ringo for being consistent, getting the groove right and giving each song what it needs.
Right now there are many "drummers" on social networks who give their opinion and play acrobatically "which makes it look easy" but who have not created anything, they only learned to play a song acrobatically but they do not make music, they are not in a band and only They criticize the work of others. Classic losers...
He plays fantastic!!!
i bought drums again because of him! thx!
It's not really the right piece to judge especially since it makes a huge blunder at 3:02 by missing the break and shifting the beat... It happens... Good for drummers the shuffle is a somewhat difficult rhythm, it requires a little coordination and nuance. I like him he's good.
Saw them live at the Spectrum in 1976. Was thinking of how many thousands of times they played this and if they ever got tired of it and then I thought of all the thousands of times I have played La Grange at live shows and other events. I realized that they will never get tired of playing La Grange. Long live ZZ Top.
I love ZZ Top they are one awesome band, with killer tunes 🎉🎉
never get tired of this classic, RIP Dusty, keep laying down the groove in the jam session in the sky!
Rip Mister dusty
F**K!
I remember hearing them talk about wanting to play on the international space station, I kept waiting for that until I read your comment.
Merci beaucoup
Bravo
Yes right it's a forever groove
Simple, tight and timeless...This endless boogie has been played by every bar band, garage band, jam session at one time or another from sea to shining sea and across Planet Earth...and it never gets old to me either...
And first of all by John Lee Hooker...Boogie Chillun' 😂😂

This video just showed the effortless genius of ZZ, and now never to be replicated, I am totally devastated . I have not watched a ZZ video for some time, but for what ever reason kept watching this particular video 2 or 3 times a day for the last week , maybe it was a sign of sad things to come. I feel genuinely upset at dusty passing this evening, and sure everyone here in the UK will also 😢
Absolutely Agree with Everything you said! Definitely a Very Sad day here in Kentucky USA, too!!!
I too watched over and over. Superior documentary
Billy Gibbons had a background in art. I think this is the reason that ZZ Top was the most visually appealing band ever. Every stich of clothing, hat, coat, sunglasses they wore, was for impact and part of the show. Even their guitars.
It was/is absolute brilliance. These guys wrote the book on cool.
@@Rich-kp1eu Absolutely bang on with your comment , these guys are purely enigmatic and coooolll ...... R.I.P. Dusty , from another English fan .
Great hit, great melody from 3 players 😮🎉❤
Such a wonderful song. You can't help feel the the wonderful rhythm of this song.
True Trio of Brothers, Even in this clip you can see, even after 50 years, they just still enjoy playing with each other, to the very last day. A rare friendship and true family. A sound which gave a real foundation for Blues Rock. Shuffle In C will never be the same. Rest In Peace Dusty. You will be missed.
We are all saddened to have learned in the last few minutes that Dusty Hill had passed away. Legions of people that have listened to ZZ Top over the decades while listening to the sounds of the famed Blues Shuffle in C. Rest in peace Dusty Hill.
I will continue listening to it until my heart stops beating💕🎶

Dusty Hill added a signature sound to ZZ and helped carry the stage with Billy. RIP, SIR.
Billy, Dusty and Frank are the epitome of cool.... Fell in love with them in the 70's and still hooked.. Thanks guys for all the great music....

Billy super!!!
How can 3 guys create such magic? Amazing!!
The Texas Trio!
Its like Dusty, Billy and Frank are just there as they let the Bass, Lead and Drums continually chatter to each other throughout and belt out pure magic! The players movements are respectful to the sound, they don't try to enhance or control it.
Not only do they make sound that, seemingly, shouldn't be possible from only 3 guys, they do it on a way that looks like it requires no effort. Absolutely amazing. Dusty will be missed.
Thank you for the great music! Love-70 80s kids......❤!!!!
I can’t think of a better place to listen to ZZ. Gruene Hall - all the Texas legends played there.
Супер музон 👍мне 35, переслушиваю всю классику рока с 60-х. Старые альбомы ZZ просто огонь... иногда кажется что вся гениальная музыка уже написана... нам повезло что в хорошем качестве все это есть...
Rest Easy Dusty. Thank you for your magnanimous bass playing and presence. ZZ Top forever.
The coolest little band EVER -- been a fan for as long as I can remember -RIP Dusty
I loved this song in blues brothers. Loved
ZZ Top Rocks, Rest in Peace Dusty, I've been listening to you guys for over 55 years, Keep on Rockin.

Finally there’s a shot of Frank Beard playing the intro. This has long been debated amongst us drummers. Yeah these guys are badass.
I've never heard drumming so tight yet seen it done by someone so relaxed. Amazing.
What was the debate ‘bout?
Descobrindo essa maravilha hoje!!

Good ol' boys having fun jammin'! 😍🎸🎸🥁
I happened to be at Gruene Hall the weekend they recorded this. I loitered around until Billy was kind of by himself. I came up to him, introduced myself and told him "Me and ALL my friends have been jamming to you since Rio Grande Mud and I just wanted to say thanks for all the great music all these years". He shook my hand and said 'That is the best thing I could ever hear". What a gentleman.
That's when you know they're doing it for you and not the money!
Keep on rocking buddy!! an' keep playing ZZ

One of the most recognizable songs, simple but sooo good. I've always admired ZZ Top for their great sound. Even though there are just three instruments the sound has a lot of depth.
indeed.... distinctive power trio
Kinda reminds me ACDC, more simple bass and drums but with a fuckin wizard on guitar and an unmistakable voice....incredible trio.

In the 80's they were all over MTV, I was in my early twenties back home in Casablanca, to me, They represented America with their funky style, long beards, and mysterious look. Maybe they're the reason I migrated to the U.S.A.! or at least one of the many reasons!

Sad news man. Rock in Peace Dusty boy! You rocked in style.
I grew up in La Grange, TX and I was there when ZZ Top performed the song *La Grange* in La Grange, back in 2015 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. It was one of the more important milestones in my life. I've loved this band since I got my first album of theirs (Rio Grande Mud) back in 1972. Despite the occasional rough edges in their music these days, they're still one of my all-time favorites.
My husband and I went to.see them in Dallas the night before at a meet and greet then drove to La Grange thw next day for that show! Hell of a weekend!
@@pinkgecko05 Lucky you! Back in the mid-1990's, I moved into a house on Galveston Bay and soon discovered, the large home next door was owned by Dusty Hill. I got to meet him when he was in residence and spent quite a bit of time with him both at home and hanging out in a local bar. He was and is a very cool/crazy/interesting guy.

This reminds me of a line I heard in "The Buddy Holly" story years ago that you can't be a successful band with just two guitars and a drum. These guys turned the world upside down with two guitars and a drum! I have been a fan since I first heard this song in the early 70's. I remember being in a dress shop with my girlfriend in the early 80's and they had a stereo system that was playing music throughout the store and Tube Snake Boogie came on and it stopped me in my tracks. I didn't know the song, but that sound was unmistakable.
