Hi guys, I've been extremely busy with different projects, gigs and private life and as a result I was not able to make new video's in the last two weeks. I'm back in the lab right now and the new video's are dropping asap! Thanks for the support and patience. TLM
Hi guys, Due to health issues I couldn't finish video's I was working on (NS7-2 review) and I can't record new video's either. I lost my voice over the weekend and that makes it a bit difficult to record stuff ;) I should be fine in a couple of days so stay tuned! For the DJ's who would like to be part of the Saturday Super Session: Join the Saturday Super Session and send me your own video!
I just bought new decks and couldnt get the signal to work and your last tip the spit swipe joint rescued me brotha! Damn the most high Jah sent this one to me Jah bless!
This was a lifesaver. Thanks man. Oh, and that last tip with the spit actually worked wonders for me. I had tried everything else and THAT was the thing that did the trick.
Every club should have a set of cartidges, but most (over here) don't because they got tired of DJ's stealing the cartidges. I always bring my own stuff, but if one of my fellow DJ's is in need of help i will share my cartidges.
You are 100% right, but in this has saved me (and a lot of other DJ's) many times over the years. When you're in the middle of a set, or if you have 2 minutes to get your stuff ready before you have to start playing, you don't have time to go through that whole cleaning process. 9 times out of 10 i'm not playing on my own turntables (in a club) so chances are that the contacts in the tonearm are not clean either. So again, you are right, but sometimes you just do what you gotta do ;)
If you use turntables with real vinyl the records can skip, but you can minimize the chance of that happening by using the right needles and treating your vinyl correctly. If you want the turntable feel without the chance of skipping you can use tturntables with Serato Scratch Live or go for a controller with moving platters like the Numark NS7/NS7-2/V7's or the Denon DNS3700/SC3900
I have no idea. And it happens every time? That is weird. Have you tried a fresh install? How do you load your tracks? Mouse or keyboard? Anyone else have this problem?
That sucks! Any way you can get them to clear the stage when you play? Carrying turntables can be a problem, but if you really want it you will find a way to make it work. Good luck!
I believe Traktor also has relative mode like Serato. In that mode you are safe from the music skipping when your needle skips. If my explaination isn't clear just wait for the next Serato video's. I will explain relative mode
Technical explanation: Licking your headshells JUST MAKES THE PROBLEM WORSE over time. Get a DeOxit pen to clean (de-oxidize) those connections on your headshell and INSIDE the tonearm, then you prevent the problem of buildup and maintain better condition of your gear. Just think: BUILDUP... In a club setting, your headshell is picking up the residue of every other DJ who licks their headshells and sticks 'em in the tonearm. Licking may work as a LAST RESORT, but it adds to the problem.
Hey TLM, the control signal is being received correctly but the sound coming out of my speakers is insanely low compared to actual vinyls. The B side of the serato control vinyl straight up doesn't work either. What do? Thanks.
You can even use CD cleaner as it has a high percentage of alcohol. this happens often in clubs because always remember. never share needles with other DJs. Always bring your own cartridges and don't let anyone else use them. Every club should have a set of house cartridges and if a DJ forgets theirs they should use the house needles, NOT YOURS! (One or two records is ok to get switched over but never for a whole set)
hi buddy thanks for your videos they are very helpful but i have a question and I'm hoping you answered so soon has you can and my question is that when i play music using serato in my case is serato dj ,some little tone from the control vinyl sound in the background of the music I'm playing, is this normal or there is any way of reduce it ? thanks
Hi man. Can u help me about serato sl1 . I connected pioneer cdj800 mk2 with SL1 but it wosn't work properly . Cue point is wrong and loop selection doesn't work . Do you now solution? Thanks!
djTLMtv I need a little help here. I'm running an SL1 with the latest and last update to sera to scratch live. I took my laptop and played at a friends house who has a SL3 box since then my software does not seem to be as response to my control vinyl. For example if I align a cue point with a marker on my vinyl and scratch once I stop scratching the cue point and marker will not line up. I've played with the calibration and buffer setting and I can't seem to get my system back to the way it was a week ago. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank
Hey Dj TLM! I have an issue, my platters on the screen of my mac are spinning at like 1000 rpms! My songs are playing real fast. The turntables are on but not spinning and the needle wasn't touching the vinyl. Any help? I'm using 2.5 with an SL1
I am getting a lull/black out for a split second whenever I instant double from the left to the right deck only. It is a split second stutter and doesn't happen when I instant double from the right to left. Any idea why?
Hey there!!! i was just wondering. I'm gonna use a CDJ800 for the first time on saturday, and i'm used to using a controller. i just want to ask, HOW do i load tracks FROM SERATO SCRATCH LIVE using PIONEER CDJ800 TO DECKS 1 AND 2. CAUSE on NUMARK MIXTRACK PRO 3 YOU CAN FIND the LOAD button for decks 1 and 2 on the top. how do i load tracks to deck 1 and deck 2 on a CDJ800??? HELP!! hehe = )
i always scratch on cdjs but i want to scratch on vinyl becouse it has better feel... but theres a problem... i dont know if turntables skip the record ??? in some videos i watch they skip but sometimes it doesnt. how does that work ? should i get denon dns3700 or get 1200 ?
All turntable techs will tell you getting saliva on the contacts of your headshell/Cartridge is the WORST thing you could do. It will gunk up and can corrode the contacts in the end of your tonearm. Keep the contacts in your tonearm clean with regular unscented drugstore rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip. Repeat until nothing comes out. If you look in the end with a flashlight and the contacts look really corroded clean with a tiny amount of cream metal polish and Q-tip. Finish with the alcohol.
Check the connection by plugging the turntable rca into the other phono input on your SL box. If you still don't get a signal then it could be the needle. Switch needles and check again. Just a couple of things you can try
UltimateZegger007 I changed the cables from my mixer to the sl1. Or a other thing: dont connected only line and line, also phono and thrue. So you need 4 cables between the mixer and sl1
For example i play in club where people can dance on stage, and when they dance needles strart to skip records, and that really suxx) And i don't know how to carry turntables, in Russia coffins are really expencive(
hello i want to let you know that im new using serato software for djing so i've been having really a hard time trying to make everything work correctly i tried using time code cds and i was surprised that the control cds doesn't are so accurate like using regular cds im using serato dj and the SL2 interface so i tried eveything in the set up menu but it looks that the sofware was designed more for playing vinyl than cds and i thought that using cd players was going to be like playing cds but for my surprise when i use the cue in my cd player the software dont work the same way im using the denon 1200 for that purpose so now i have to try use it in hybrid mode but that is another history because in the serato sofware i have to mapped and assigned functions with in the player so it would be very useful in you do a tutoria more in specific about this topic explaining this kind of topics i hope you read this and give a little help about it thanks.

Appreciate the advice on the Noise Sensitivity!

I just posted on Serato forums, they are great with a prompt correct response. Just started last night. I am going to do a fresh re-install

i refuse to upgrade as scratch live has worked for my gigs all this time big ups TLM
I added a little annotation at that part of the video. Thanks for sharing!
Shout out from 2024, thanks for the information
Yes, i will do video's that cover mixing techniques including Hip Hop
I hope to do that, but for now i have to stick to Serato because i don't have Traktor (yet)
I have no idea. And it happens every time? That is weird. Have you tried a fresh install? How do you load your tracks? Mouse or keyboard? Anyone else have this problem?
Yup, i made a video response. Big changes for Serato, but it's a good thing
Thank you DJ TLM, awesome. I have that line, like u said, I will try to check rca!
That sucks! Any way you can get them to clear the stage when you play? Carrying turntables can be a problem, but if you really want it you will find a way to make it work. Good luck!
Very clear diction. Good job,

Did you see on serato's youtube channel the 2 new vids they put out about version 1.5 if you haven't its really cool
You can even use CD cleaner as it has a high percentage of alcohol.

Mines Callibrating fine with 99% but it wont play a track, when I move the vinyl, the track I loaded won't follow. Why is this ?
cool stuff
How do you get the pitch fader to callibrate with the software so i can change my bpms with my decks
No need to calibrate anything for that. When you change the pitch on your turntables or cd players the pitch of the song changes too
i always scratch on cdjs but i want to scratch on vinyl becouse it has better feel... but theres a problem... i dont know if turntables skip the record ??? in some videos i watch they skip but sometimes it doesnt. how does that work ? should i get denon dns3700 or get 1200 ?

will you do any traktor tutorials ?
Is it neccesary to test the sensitivity CDJs? Because when I test the sensitivity the threshold goes to the far right with my CDjs.
i am going to use traktor... will it skip ?
How do you calibrate the buttons/knobs on the mixer?
ok thx for help
Hey guys I need some help....
i have 0% signal in my scope... have somebody a answer of that?
greets Tim

Just a couple of things you can try
+djTLMtv hey man, thanks a lot, it works!!! go on with your vids, i like it very much :-)
What helped you? i have the same problem
UltimateZegger007 I changed the cables from my mixer to the sl1. Or a other thing: dont connected only line and line, also phono and thrue. So you need 4 cables between the mixer and sl1
and i just started using turntables how to i stop the lag with out having to push the vinyle off when im scratchig
For example i play in club where people can dance on stage, and when they dance needles strart to skip records, and that really suxx)
And i don't know how to carry turntables, in Russia coffins are really expencive(
How are you man, I hope you can see this, It will be nice if you can make a video of how to mix Hip hop music, its very difficult f
we don't need to do all of this in Traktor, just connect the device to the laptop and you're good to go
Are you talking about Traktor with control vinyl?
djTLMtv yep
hello i want to let you know that im new using serato software for djing so i've been having really a hard time trying to make everything work correctly i tried using time code cds and i was surprised that the control cds doesn't are so accurate like using regular cds im using serato dj and the SL2 interface so i tried eveything in the set up menu but it looks that the sofware was designed more for playing vinyl than cds and i thought that using cd players was going to be like playing cds but for my surprise when i use the cue in my cd player the software dont work the same way im using the denon 1200 for that purpose so now i have to try use it in hybrid mode but that is another history because in the serato sofware i have to mapped and assigned functions with in the player so it would be very useful in you do a tutoria more in specific about this topic explaining this kind of topics i hope you read this and give a little help about it thanks.
whats that piece holding the serato box?
It's the laptop stand. This one can fit a large laptop and in my case it's enough room to fit my laptop and my SL1
hello ser i want to Rane box sl2..
???
can any control vinyls work on scratch live?
Traktor already calibrates when you play a song.
Whats the intro beat?
Unreleased material.
let wetness of your spit conducts the electricity. lol thank for the tip.
