    have this radio love it, also have it remote mounted in my jk. keep in mind this is not your cb, this is a 50 watt radio that does produce lots of heat and has a active fan, and has 150 watt draw that u have going thru that relay every time u transmit on high power. also keep in mind that u have tons of electrical interference in that relay box. the ut 72g is a bangin lil antenna for the size of it, most r set for swrs outa the box but id check it to be sure, mine was at 1.1 straight outa the bag. if u every need a better antenna for reaching a lil farther i use the nagoya 771g mag mount on a tram uhf to nmo adapter on top of my roof rack and i can hit my semi local repeater since its about 40 miles away regularly.also make sure u blow out that fan on the monthly. i had my first one mounted on the dash and the bushing in the fan went out in 3 months. dont be afraid to look up your local 2m and 70cm repeaters and throw them in there since it has a wide rx.

    Thanks for the install instructions. Copied your method but instead of routing the coax to the rear passenger side sill panel, I instead routed it to the vent underneath the driver's seat.

    The cable to the head unit is not a coaxial cable. It’s pretty much a Cat5.

    Those are solid radios. Had one briefly and just sold it on eBay. Got a ham license and wanted dual band, but I really did like the 1000G. Curious to see how it holds up to our AZ summers in a hot truck.

    Thanks for the tips! will be installing mine tomorrow onto the Taco Garage Multi Mount and using an MXTA26 antenna on the Cali Raise antenna bed-mount with the MXTA24 antenna cable. Any static noise from using the fuse panel? I was thinking about hooking it up to my Auxbeam switchpanel so I can turn on/off as needed, and not directly to the battery. The detachable faceplate is what sold me.

      Hey quick tip if you add it to your cart after you create an account on buy two way radios they will allow you to order it on back order some guys recently were saying it shipped and arrived within a week or two. I know that they have a continual backorder waitlist but they fulfill them as soon as their shipments come in. So worth going that route rather than waiting for it to show in stock because it almost never is, just gets shipped out to all their waitlist as soon as they arrive. Hope this helps!

While I mostly do ham operations, I do have the wouxun kg-935g ht for when I'm with friends, and I'm toying with picking this mobile up to swap out my ham when road tripping with those friends. Saw someone else's comment about the backorder a week ago so figured I'd pass along the word!

    you shouldn't of connected the radio wine to the smaller wire because of the amp draw

    • @research903
      @research903 4 місяці тому

      Agreed. The radio should be the ONLY draw on the wire/circuit from the battery. Not only to not exceed the amp rating of the wire but to prevent signal interference. Hum or static may not always be apparent when receiving but can be heard by others when you transmit. In some rare cases, it can even limit your effective communication range. I use an interference filter and ferrite nodule on all my radios and other sensitive electronic gear in my rig.

    • @AdventureBuilt

      I have it pretty tight from the base on the roof to under the truck. I didn’t want is slapping against the back window when driving. I have it zip tied under the body to keep is tight. Then it’s a little slack into the cab. I have about 3’ of extra cable I have wound up under the cab.
