      you might friend have been scammed. The original screen (from warthog project) was the SimPit Avenger PRO with the real ambient light rejection surface made here in NZ. That's why your image looks so washed out and why you have the band in the middle (the paints are scam). If you have bought the original product you would have had better product for far less ;-). Nice cockpit!

      tbf this Cockpit is his physical own and can be used for all kinds of simulators. The ships don't have material value, so there is a big difference

    You actually have analog switches in your control boards that function with the Game Program AND THEN,.. made it all modular for different games on top of that!!! Made the little kid in me giggle so hard!!!
    DREAM Set Up for SIMs to be sure! NEVER seen anything this thoroughly created!!!

      Thanks! Setting up a business to sell this stuff from Finland might be a bit of a challenge. :D But you could always try to find a local woodworker and ask to build one based on my plans.

      @@superakaike When a hobby is expensive it's normal to communicate with your spouse about whether you can both handle the price. Same thing applies when a hobby takes up lots of space, can their house handle it without impacting the other partner or children drastically?

      @@chronicle8080Go cheap like me. i got 3TV's cheap and use them, thrustmaster m16000 and farmstick, razer tarturous pro, and a cheap tablet for gameglass. took a bunch of scrap wood and screwed them to the chair. Also got 3 VR headsets though so the TV's might be coming down. the quest 3 is enough to replace them.

    This for some reason gives me vibes of a future where immersion systems like this coupled with cheap stationary hydraulics create effectively an actual spaceship, you and your friends could crew in real life, virtually.

      That technically already exists, that's basically how flight training works for commercial pilots. They have a cockpit with hydraulics and a flight sim.

    And I thought my $5K gaming PC was expensive. LOL. This is an incredible setup, I genuinely love the modularity. If I ever got into the sim stuff this is exactly how I'd go about it. DIY everything I can and make damn sure it's modular so I can easily switch things around for different games. A truly impressive sim setup for sure.

      How does one spend $5k on a gaming PC? Pretty sure if you got all the best components possible and did custom watercooling on top of that just cause, it'd be like $3.5k.

      @@joshuadelaughter ignoring the "how", what about the "why"?? i dont really see a reason for spending more than 2k on a pc, unless you REALLY dont want to upgrade for a while. if you want to spend that much, i feel like itd be a better option to just buy what you need to run the games youre currently into, then upgrade over time as better GPUS and such release.

    Next step would require you build a tilt platform and subwoofers that interface with your chair. That way when you’re turning your cockpit tilts and when you get hit your chair vibrates.

    Ive always wanted a setup like that for Mechwarrior only thing Id want to add is force feedback to the chair. Id want it to have the option to shake rattle and roll while I stomp out my rival mech pilots... Cool setup

    Damn thats awesome. My setup is just sticks attached to my chair and panels attached to my desk and a 27" monitor. This is more or less exactly what I want to do once I have the ability. Good fuckin job dude, seriously impressive.

    Seeing stuff like this really does make me feel since i had a head injury 7 years ago how much my life changed an how lazy i got cause about 7 years before that i had a good career and used to build robots and all sorts of crazy things in my studio apartment.....So the moral when life gives you lemons keep trying even when you feel like you lost a chunk of your life

      well, you might be inclined to think that Star Citizen sucks based on its kind of ridiculous development timeline 🥲 but there's no denying that this SETUP is amazing and he can use this rig to enjoy other games beyond SC itself. I've seen numerous at home pilot rigs built on youtube and the quality/detail of this setup, including the seamless wraparound display is objectively admirable

    This is a man who understands High FoV Gaming! A High-FoV Gaming setup is essential for anyone who values immersion --- who strives to become as immersed in games and sims as possible.
    You can get a good High FoV Gaming setup with a 55" 4K OLED at a View Distance of 18", giving a horizontal Display FoV of 106°. If anyone is interested, reply and I will explain the "secret" to High FoV Gaming.

    the fact you made it modular is why your setup is so much better than others, people need a second setup usually for other gaming etc hence why their setups pale in comparison.....you catered for that, world class!!

    The modularity is exactly the inspiration I needed for my sim pit. I want an f-16 pit but need to compromise because I also need an IFR trainer to keep my skills sharp IRL, so this would solve a lot of that!

      I''m actually planning to start an OpenHornet cockpit build as soon as I finish assembling my CNC machine. Idea is to make it even more modular while still allowing me to slowly progress with (nearly) 1:1 Hornet cockpit build. Interesting to see what comes of that project.

    I had a setup like this about 14 years ago with the 180 degree curved projection screen, it was awesome. Now though it's VR all the way... just for practical purposes. Can't beat it!

    You can maybe add a gyroscopic gun to the setup? When going on foot, slide out the chair, and pick up the gun. Maybe you can use some mapping software to map the mouse and keyboard movements to gyroscopic gun or even your tobii headtracking.
