Object Class: Euclid
Description: SCP-1770 is an animate mass of an indeterminate number of steel chains, shaped like an average sized humanoid. The subject appears to be in possession of human-level intelligence, though it does not seem to be in full control of its mental faculties. SCP-1770 is capable of ambulation and speech, though it will rarely initiate conversation, and if left to its own devices, will not move. The only thing capable of temporarily alleviating SCP-1770's apathy are works of art depicting nature scenes, abstractions or inanimate objects. Pieces depicting humans will cause it to regress further into apathy, and will often result in it curling into the corner of its cell for several days and becoming completely unresponsive.

If a crucifix in a jar of urine (Google it) is considered art by certain organizations, regardless of the opinions of a majority of people who may be offended/disgusted by it, well... who am I to say that it cannot be "forced".

Interesting to note that the art of yesteryear - especially the renaissance - were generally works created for wealthy patrons and not genuine expressions of the artists themselves.
While Piss Christ might not be your cup of tea (or mine, frankly), the freedom an accessibility allowed to the arts to make it rarely existed in any other time in recorded history.
With this level of constraint released from the arts you will undoubtedly get works that you just won't like, but it also allows artists to create in ways that you would certainly love (up to an including the SCP fictional universe itself).

I found the slightly tired version of your voice to be a bit more immersive. It makes the readings more believable. I can almost see a tired researcher lecturing a room full of recruits

Might i just say that the model is very well made.
I really like how there are 2 textures on the surface, where you can see the outside skin of chains moving overtop of the under layer of chains.

Didnt expect to empathize so much with this SCP as I do now after watching it. Definitely sounds like 1770 has either depression or artist’s block, and it doesn’t help he’s lost his chain friends and got sent to secret monster jail. Great job with this video, the security footage adds a lot to the effect of the video!

Pants-off Dance-off And? It’s NOT human. You’re treating it as if it’s a human with human values. It isn’t a human and therefore cannot be expected to have human values. That’s similar to treating army ant hives as a tyrannical, inhumane dictatorship that uses bodies as furniture. Yes, army ant hives are made out of the bodies of worker drones and mindlessly follow the orders of the Queen and soldiers, but that’s not inhumane. That’s their set of values...if ants had values.
1770 has values and motivations. It values art and is obsessively motivated by its drive to make more, but now it’s lost that ability and seems to be suffering from depression because of that. That’s sad, and I feel empathy for it.
Now, it WOULD be inhumane to give 1770 some fresh D-class to make art with, but it’s not inhumane to feel pity or empathy for it.

I have a cool ass idea for an scp but my membership on the wiki was never accepted... i thought of a statue- like polymorphing hand that constantly needs things to sort into random and intricate patterns, depending on the complexity of the material. When stuff isnt in its hands, it rips and shreds anything that comes near it, and will break the table or ground its on to make the pattern

I had an idea for one that influences bad decisions through images on screen and if within close proximity, dreams. Just something that makes people have slightly worse lives over time. I couldnt decide what object it should take the form of though. I was gonna go with a TV or a remote, but decided against it

I really like this SCP, but not really for the SCP itself, I just really like the idea of a sapient SCP that no longer wishes to do what made it notable in the first place. The Maker of Chains just sees no more point in making weird chain-flesh-knot art. A lot of people have already pointed out that this is likely a metaphor for artist’s block, or depressive feelings about your actions being purposeless, or something of the like. I find it’s relationship to SCP as a whole the most interesting thing. What if SCPs are not consigned to act according to their own description all of the time? All things in the world change, it stands to reason that SCPs, like 1770, can change too.
You might like Just another Murder Monster, I forget which SCP it is, but if you look up the name you should be able to find it. Its an SCP that isn't quite what it seems at first.

There's a really big audio gap between the audio log and video though. To the point where I had to blast the volume so loud during the audio log that I nearly deafened myself when it went back to the commentary in between x-x. Hopefully the audio logs can be made louder in the future!

i love this SCP it seams to be driven but true artistic passion and i would certainly like to see the foundation try experiancing this SCP to "casual artists" like having a containment procedure where its moved to a glass like room and every two weeks differant cavnases are rolled up to the glass to get the room "artistically fresh"

The reference to the storm makes me think it could be related to one of the Gods mentioned in Rev. Hawthorne's notes during the instance of SCP-1936, Daleport.
