Ikr...Idk why but the first thing that popped into my mind was my mom pounding at my door, desperately begging to be let inside telling me that she needs to see me and make sure that I was safe for one last time and that I have a chance to save her by letting her in or would be killing her both literally and emotionally by depriving her of what she came to do before the light gets her. If something along those lines happened in real life I admit that I will not be able to resist it at all.

When Day Breaks is already scary enough as a post-apocalyptic world, but just imagine what it would’ve been like in those first few minutes… Millions of people being transformed and burned in the sunlight, the chaos, all the car crashes that would come as a result, the confusion of those who survived only to immediately transform when they look out the window…

A kerfuffle, if you will. If trends continue, it might even be upgraded to a shenanigan.
The truly terrifying part of this SCP-001 scenario is that photons from our sun would propagate out into the rest of the galaxy/universe and organic beings would just randomly be hit by them and undergo the "black goo" change. Some advanced civilization would have to have the unenviable task of encasing our sun in a Dyson Sphere large enough to eventually still enclose it when it swells into a red giant in a few billion years. Every time you look at another star, it's because a photon traveled potentially thousands or millions of years to intercept your eyeballs *right then*. Now imagine that pretty flickering spot of light can turn you into a monster.
I would just rage quit at that point lol.
Those advanced civilizations would see Earth and react: For real bro, how they went from one of the most complex yet primitive species on the universe to just lumps of hostile flesh?

I like to imagine that, even though the Foundation is extremely secretive when it comes to revealing itself to the public, it decided that since more than 90% of the population is “dead” that it didn’t matter and they had to get the message out as soon as possible.
It's more so because it's an Apollyon class, they literally can't do anything about it so they have to alert the public, even if it reveals their identity.
But yeah there's no point in this warning anyways, since most people are already dead.

When Day Breaks will always be the true SCP-001 for me out of the other candidates because of how astronomically fucked we'd be and how morbid the idea is for all people to be melted into a congealed mass of flesh by what we wouldn't be able to survive without in real life, the sun.

@@cowboymooman8776 TV broadcasting is an electric signal, it would be too complicated to hack that and still make it comprehensible to humans even for a reality sculptor. Unless said reality sculptor was a broadcast hacking pro in the past. What could have happened is the change in the perception of the signal by human brain, a cognitohazard.

Fun fact: You can destroy and eradicate SCP-001 by convincing atleast one of the flesh monsters to say SCP 2521. SCP 2521 would then remove every existing piece of SCP-001, including the sun, because they are all connected like a hivemind.
