About 3 weeks into going KETO I remember waking up laughing one night, it was as if the happy light was turned on. Brain fog was gone, and inflammation nearly gone, and I'm a Great Grandma!

I'm 77, went Carnivore, and had the runs for 18 weeks except 2 days, then suddenly normal. I was about 3 weeks in when suddenly I was no longer hungry and forgetting to eat. At about 6 weeks I did a 72 hour fast. with no problem. By 12 weeks I was no longer having joint pain. Carnivore is amazing. I hadn't been sleeping for months, maybe a year. Had been very depressed and angry. My Hashimotos is better, seldom depressed, no longer on antidepressants, not sure where the anger went.

I can identify with the disappearance of food cravings, mine was sudden, about 4 weeks into Ketovore . I had a hard day babysitting, was tired and thought I’d reward myself with a tiny chocolate caramel flavored custard cone. Just a mini cheat you understand. On my way to the custard stand, my mouth started watering for a big fat juicy hamburger…which had on my dinner menu so I headed home, had two bun less burgers (back then I had to use lettuce wraps, not now) and NEVER needed the custard treat. I was totally satisfied. For 40 years my low fat, calorie restricted plant based diet had set me up for failure.
I consider a cheat day now 9 chocolate chips (65% cacao) thrown in my Two Good yogurt (1/2 a container) with a handful of raw nuts with heavy cream whipped with a tiny bit of stevia. I weigh now what I weighed in high school, I am 67 going on 17! Thanks to Dr Ken Berry and nurse Neisha!

I had a whole slew of medical issues. Since leaning more toward keto carnivore I have tapered off of almost all my medications and feel better than when I was in my early 20's. This way of eating really does work. I was buying into the whole..."wholefood plant based" hype for almost 2 decades. Just kept getting sicker and sicker. It makes me so mad that people are being lied to about their health.

I have Hashimotos as well, which I'm told is unusual for a man. I took myself off the meds last year after only a couple months on them and have been mostly carnivore since January of this year. I have an appointment to get my bloodwork again in 2 weeks. Yesterday (March 27th) I woke up full of energy. I cleaned up the house some, did several loads of laundry and even exercised. Today I've got energy again and have been doing the same things. After months of being unable to do much of anything, it's been fantastic.

My hashimoto story is so similar, depression & anxiety. I’m much older and was dealing with chronic menopause and what I thought was fibromyalgia chronic pain, and lipolymphedemia. It took me about three months to start feeling better. The brain fog was the first to go. And little by little I started getting my life back. I don’t have the body pain anymore. I get pain back if I eat night shades or too many carbs. It wasn’t fibromyalgia as Dr. Berry explained. And definitely the lower the carbs (under 20) the less hungry. 14 months now and an entirely new person. Can you imagine going through 2020 with all of that sickness! So very grateful to be here.😊

Feeling stable every day, not being ruled by food, not suddenly running out of energy, getting rid of inflammation in my body. I love everything I eat. Now, if I feel tired I just have a cuppa and sit for a short while and I start reviving. No going back for me!

I didn’t see weight loss for about 2 months. But I little by little started feeling better. I joined the pateron group and they kept telling me to stay the course. They promised that it gets better. I binge watched Dr. Berry. And watch the zoom with him and Neisha. I’m a different person today. I could hardly walk from room to room because I hurt so bad and was overwhelmed all the time.I had no idea that I could have the energy that I have now! 85 lbs down and chronic pain is gone. I had a compulsive hunger hours after meals, I had severe bouts of anxiety and severe burnout. I felt that something was very wrong with my mind and Extreme difficulty in concentrating on very simple things. After watching videos and read the studies about this subject and research metabolic effects of the brain. Good video Neisha!! Keeping info simple but powerful. Your story is my story. I am 68. have been keto/carnivore for 15 months, started keto for extreme inflammation and pain. Later diag with 2 auto immune (PMR and PN) I am under doctor care with meds and its all working for me. But staying keto and fasting is the best part for help in pain and inflammation and carb sugar craves gone! Like Dr. berry and Dr. berg says "fix your diet first and that will start healing in your body" so true, so true. Keto is not a diet, it is a way of life. Sugar, carbs run thru your blood and cause so much damage to your nerves and the pain will show up in auto immune, my feet killed me for 3 yrs of pain!! Give up sugars, carbs. I am adding b12 and nutrition yeast now to help with the nerve damage that was done and continue my doctors care, last visit he said stay with the keto course it will help you. I went from 182 lbs in 2019 to 164 now, still hoping I can lose a few more pounds but not pushing that, just staying the course with keto and IF and my body will decide what's best. I have Hashi's along with endometriosis, bilateral nerve entrapment to both legs. Brain Fog also did me in. I am a RN too, losing my ability to debate with other health professionals devastated me. The pandemic, after working 14 days in a row when it first hit, pushed me over the edge. I had to stop working and go on long term disability. I never knew the pain that can come with Hashimoto's. I am five weeks in full carnivore (after that pain you would be an idiot to eat that toxic food again) haven't "cheated" once. Except for the pain in my legs (I go for pain med infusion tomorrow, I have experienced a huge increase in my energy and motivation. Before my legs got worse this past week, I was going out each day! I had more energy then I have since 2015. That is a huge event for me. I was in such a bad space I was jealous of those who could walk, ride a bike etc, I wanted to just die. I had to find something that could make me feel better. Carnivore has literally saved my life. Dr Berry, Kelly Hogan and you Neisha have given me the motivation to keep going. Thank you!

If one keeps one's carbohydrate intake to 20 - 30 net grams of carb per day you will fat adapt more efficiently. Some people are actually not getting the carbs low enough at the beginning and this is hindering their progress. Once you have fully fat adapted you may find you can eat up to 50 grams net carb. The best electrolyte drink I use for this process to prevent keto flu and tiredness is a product called simply primal WATERFAST. It has 1000 mg sodium, 1000 mg potassium, calcium and magnesium per scoop. When fat or keto adapting one needs 3000 - 5000 mg of sodium per day and you should be getting at least 3000 - 4700 mg potassium as well. This drink really helps with the transition and preventing electrolyte loss as you adapt. The potassium is just as important as the sodium and magnesium. If you are plagued with muscle cramps take 400 - 500 mg of magnesium glycinate each morning. Many people are deficient and don't realize it.

I relate so much to this. I am 51 menopausal, prediabetic, and I have hypothyroidism and need to lose 45 lbs. A year ago I came down with shingles and debilitating fatigue. All these conditions make losing weight impossible, but seeing a similar struggle in someone else means I am not alone. I am right there with you sick and tired of being sick and tired. Best of luck on your journey!

So again thank you so very much for sharing these snippets of how to know when you are Fat Adapted!!!

I've been at the ketovore for less than a week (Started Aug 1, 21)... Day three I noticed a heat in my chest and face and arms. Thinking the thyroid is coming alive and my metabolism is rising... Looking forward to the future now rather than being depressed about getting old and slow.

Thanks Neish! This was so helpful! I've been getting disheartened during my keto journey. I have insulin resistance and PCOS so things tend to happen much slower for me, but like you, I naturally started intermittent fasting as I wasn't hungry and now am more in tune with hunger. You don't over complicate things and I'm grateful for that. ❤️

My story is similar to yours. One of the biggest difference to your story is that I always had painful migraine everytime I indulged in a little bit of fatty food. The kind of headache that eventually made me incapable of doing any work and incapable of thinking about anything other than the throbbing pain in my head. This made me more serious to look for an alternative lifestyle (even though I had always maintained a healthy lifestyle). I had always eaten half the portion of rice of the people around me. Now I just don't eat rice at all. I'm so thankful! :)

Great if you considered carnivore. 👍😊Honestly, I did keto 3 times in the past but went back to standard diet every time. Keto involves a lot of cooking and prep cuz a lot of ppl try to replace their sweets, breads, waffles, pancakes, pasta etc. with home-made keto approved ingredients but Carnivore is NEXT LEVEL. You learn to look beyond any type of food that resembles breads, cookies, waffles and pancakes; you only have meat left and it is truly liberating. I highly recommend anyone who is doing Keto to switch to Carnivore (even if for a month) and they will see how much more improvement they will experience.

I love intermittent fasting (I have been doing it for almost two years). I average 16-20 hrs and I don’t get hangry at all. My husband was amazed when I was able to go so long and not get hangry anymore. I don’t have cravings anymore but struggle with the mental aspect of missing some snack foods (I love ice cream). I am trying to go low carb or keto but have not achieved that yet. It is definitely easy for me to fit in IF (even though no one around me does it) but eating low carb or keto is more difficult for me (because no one around me eats that way).

I love the term "Hangry" now I don't feel so alone... 😁 I do OMAD 16-20 as well and I also do a 72-96 hour fast to encourage autophagy... I start to get hangry about halfway through a 72-06 hour fast. My family thinks I am weird... But the results speak for themselves.
You might be surprised, but there are creative alternatives for those missed snacks. I found one the other day that actually mimics the "mouth feel" of my beloved Potato Chips... I took the stem and leaves form a cauliflower, put the florets aside for later.
Mince it all up in the food processor... Mixed in a couple tablespoons of ACV and a generous serving of "Real Salt" and some pepper (you get a whole LOT of yummy goodness from one small cauliflower too!) and the texture and mouthfeel was so similar? Not to mention it was quite "Cleansing" (but not in a bad way, I get IBS and GERD and neither flared up at all)...
That it just might replace my love of Kettle Chips (even if they are cooked in Avacado Oil and salted with Pink salt... My logic center wants to make them a "good" snack🤣 still because there are only three ingredients and two are on the "really good" list 🤣)
Sorry, I do go on... After the brain fog went away my love of "Gabbing" returned... Not that anyone can tell...

Brain fog clearing is for me a clear indicator. Memory improvement was brilliant. That was an eye opener. The timeline is different for everyone.
Lack of hunger is much quicker (in days) than the brain for clearing, which is weeks .
