PLEASE HELP!!!, I’m wondering, do I have to be in ketosis constantly to become fat adapted or as long as I stay low carb I will get there? I had a sleep eat episode and it kicked me out of ketosis for a few days (I can be sure exactly what I ate but from what was left out it was a mixture or carbs and sugars! ( I no longer keep them in the house)) I was 4 weeks into starting keto! Will I now have to start again in regatta becoming fat adapted, I’m now 8 weeks in and definitely not fat adapted as I’m still craving and lack of energy ect so wondering if I’ve restarted?

I’m almost 67 years old and have no thyroid. I was on Keto 2 months before letting someone talk me out of it. I had labs done 2 weeks after stopping Keto. I lost 25 lbs, I’m producing hormones, my blood glucose is improving. My dr thought I was doing hormone therapy! She demanded I get back on Keto!!! I am as of today and I already feel better. I told my dr about your free videos. She’s going to recommend you for beginners.

A relative just texted me today telling me instead of Keto, I need to be on the Mediterranean diet. I don't know why people don't understand that diets don't work the same for everyone. I am diabetic and have no thyroid. Yet Keto works for me. It has repaired the cortisol issues I have had for 3 years and it is normal now. You'd think someone would be happy for me. My support system is pretty much non-existent. If I do something, anything really, I do it alone. I shouldn't let it bother me or be surprised.

This has been the best change in lifestyle. I was almost 300 lbs and was giving up. Craved carbs like crazy. Addicted. One day wake up call and started Keto and IF. I am down to 211 lbs today. Eat when I am hungry at least one meal a day maybe two. I feel so much better and have dropped from a 44 waist to now size 38. All of the 2xl clothes are gone and waiting for the XL to get baggy. It really works!

Chicken breasts grilled or baked, coffee with cream, steamed broccoli and Green beans, eggs, bacon and other proteins only No tomatoes, onions, carrots, fruit, dairy at all. No supplements except daily multivitamin and potassium It was hard core. I never cheated. No alcohol but I did drink diet soda and at the end sugar-free pudding and popsicles.

Every now and then I dream about popcorn. I don’t care much for desserts but I love popcorn, rice and potatoes. If you don’t buy them, then there is less temptation. My husband is the Vegan Carb King and his foods don’t bother me anymore. I just think about how miserable I would be if I eat it….quick decision, NO!!! Just drink some water or coffee. 1. Peeing A LOT. Drinking A LOT of water daily. Very thirsty all day long. Eating once a day only red meat and salt.
    2. Mood swings. Getting very emotional, sometimes depressed, but sometimes very calm and happy. Feeling the glympse, I think, of when I become fat adapted. That is what motivates me
    3. Crazy to eat carbs. In my case I crave fruits. It is crazy.
    4. Loss of focus, brain fog, cant think right sometimes. It comes and goes. I am feeling that besides that I am improving, I will keep this path to see where it goes. I really wanna feel like everyone says, energetic, mental clarity, etc.

@@ArmagedoOom ur comment came in great timing. That happened to me last few days, I drank almost 10 liters of waters daily and still thirsty. This night I got something that never happened to me before, I woke up feeling my calf twisting and in great pain, never had a cramp like this before. I had some magnesium, was not taking it for a while, but I took it today. Also I used a lot of salt today. I come from veganism with no salt, I was used to get thirsty when using salt while vegan, so I was not used to use it. I guess on carnivore it is different. I see a lot of carnivores using a lot of salt daily, I think how can they eat that amount of salt daily and not get thirsty and drink water all day? Maybe I need to increase the salt .. will try that, thanks my friend

I’ll admit that I was terrified of having to go on Keto (my liver specialist enthusiastically suggested it) because of what was told by doctors 30+ years ago; that you need low-fat everything and that too much fat and meat-eating will clog your arteries. I’ve only been Keto for a short while and already notice insane improvements!
I’m a type 2 diabetic and my blood sugars have been insanely high no matter what I did. On average, they would be around 230 in the morning and almost 500 two hours after eating. Also found out I’m insulin-resistant and have a non-alcoholic fatty liver. First Endocrynologist said I needed to eat 60g of carbs PER MEAL! I felt insanely worse and sought out another Endocrynologist who got me on the right track. Not only do I have more energy with Keto, but my blood sugars are within normal range! What’s crazy is that it happened almost immediately. Insane.
Thank you for all the hard work and the information you share with your videos, Dr. Berry! 🙏

I've been on this path (keto and intermittent fasting) for the last 6 months and I can tell you I'm still learning.
To kick things off I started with a 4 day fast. For me that was very helpful because it help me reset a lot of habits.
One of my mistakes was to let my electrolytes get depleted. That would leave me feeling tired and mentally cloudy and would hinder weight loss.
I'm discovering it's bit of a double-edged sword at the moment. When I get everything right I feel like I've developed superpowers. Unfortunately foods that don't agree with me and cause inflammation are becoming brutal. Tension, anxiety and joint inflammation is what happens.
      I was 295 lbs now I'm 230.
I would suggest you start the day with black coffee no sugar and just drink water.
if you're going for the one meal a day protocol which I can assure you is very effective. You will need to replace some salt in your body during the day. I personally have a small bottle of some very salty liquid (back olive brine) which I occasionally sip on.
      Anyways good luck.

I’m surprised at how much more energy I have each day since starting keto - it’s like turning the clock back 10 years. Since the Covid lockdown I had been eating way too many carbs and had been feeling weary and lacklustre all the time. But now I’m a bit like the Energiser Bunny - I just keep going even into the evening. Thank you so much for these really helpful videos.

Thank you, my life has changed markedly due to adopting carnivore and keto. Thanks to you!
I am bloating-free, can eat eggs (2 eggs once a week) without pain, can drink high fat cream (not lactose free) in my coffee.
I stopped eating salads, and started eating cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts & asparagus cooked in the oven with butter.,
I also eat more avacado, use bacon grease & I definitely eat my meat fat, m-m-m.m, sometimes crispy, double yummy..
I use butter, some high fat cream cheese on cucumber, & celery.
I eat the skin on my chicken legs, and i am rarely hungry anymore.
I cooked beef heart, it's delicious, liver, and lots if fatty meats, beef, chicken, pork & even the odd weiners, and deli meats.
Every-so-often I do ingest some carbs (half a bun), but rarely.
I'm having a difficult totally giving up milk (I use 3% lactose free milk). I was totally happy to hear about whipping cream, and have started using harder cheeses.
QUESTION: What do you think about frozen yogurt?
    Thanks again for everthing!
Oh by the way, I have lost 15 lbs. I have wound up fasting too, and was fine.
I"m trying to listen to my body, so I still have some inflamation in my feet, usually when I have carbs, even just a little.

When women have children, their body releases a hormone called relaxin to prepare for child birth. It causes ligaments to relax and stretch. And there are a lot of ligaments in the foot.
So a lot of us women had their feet stretch from that and it's not just being "chunky". Weight gain can cause a similar effect.

I dropped my BMI from 43 to 29 in about a year on the Canada Food Guide diet. I only got up to 43 because my diet was terrible - I'll spare you the details of how that happened. I got from 29 to 27 on eat less move more, but that just lead to unhealthy cravings. I tried massive cardio, but I just gained 8 lbs - although I think that was mostly muscle. So I tried other things, and finally landed on keto. I'm one week in, haven't lost much, but I'm finally not hungry. Keto seems like a good path to OMAD for me. I'll let you know how it goes, but week one has been terrific. I'm finally not hungry all the time, and I think this might work. Potatoes can go to hell. I never knew I could eat so much spinach and romaine.

Have you looked into Vitamin B17? It is a nutrient found primarily in the seeds of fruit, particularly the apricot. It also is known by the names of laetrile, amygdalin and nitriloside. These names specifically indicate the purified form that was developed for the prevention and treatment of cancer. There are many testimonials from those who eat apricot seeds and have cured or greatly reduced their cancers. Pill and chemo pushing doctors refuse to admit the effectiveness of natural cures mainly because there is no money to be made from them. I firmly believe that my mother died from chemo treatments. Knowing what I know now about diet, she could have been cured or at least had a chance.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999. I refused the slash, burn and poison offered by the doctors and after a lot of research into natural cures, I fasted for 37 days. Now I know about autophagy. The doctors were very angry but it's my body! Not much was known at the time about keto or low carb diets. I've been low carb or keto ever since. I'm now 69 and full of energy. God bless you, I'll pray for you.

Keto diet has resolved my "incurable" pityriasis rosea, 10 years of IBS, swollen belly, anxiety, depression, and who knows what other conditions were forming.
And I started this diet when there wasn't much info on it, but rather by listening to my body and drawing conclusions from nature. It so amazing to find out what parts I had right and why and thankfully I wasn't doing anything wrong. Thank you, Dr. Berry, for finding the research and promoting knowledge sharing so that more people can discover this amazing new way of living. Thanks Doc Berry! Another great video. I’d love to hear you talk about sodium and Keto. Rumor has it that Keto flu might be related to sodium deficiency. I know low sodium has effected my athletic performance. I’ve also suffered from cramps and headaches while living Keto. Upping the salt has fixed both. Think it’s worth talking about. Thanks for all your doing!

    • @kazzana9013
      @kazzana9013 6 років тому +7

      Jim Tipton
I think it is all the electrolytes, not just sodium that might be related. So as well as sodium, it could be a deficiency in potassium and magnesium too causing cramps and perhaps Keto flu also.

    • @jimtipton8888
      @jimtipton8888 6 років тому +4

Kazzana Read “The Salt Fix” by James DiNicoloantonio. Elevated Insulin drives sodium retention. By lowering insulin your body flushes sodium. Also, when you eliminate SAD processed food, you get much less from your diet. Sodium also has an interaction with potassium and magnesium retention if memory serves me correctly. No doubt that all the electrolytes are important, but Keto really impacts sodium levels in a negative way and if not replaced can cause adverse reactions. Cramps, headaches, symptoms of overtraining in athletes to name a few.

I gotta be honest. Within the first 14 seconds I realize this video is not what I was expecting lol. In all fairness this is the first time I’ve seen this channel in my feed.
When I saw the title and read the question about being fat adapted I immediately evaluated myself on the mental front on if I’ve become “fat adapted” in the sense of it not bothering me.
We live in a society that promotes loving yourself and accepting who you are. I dont fall in line with that, personally, I seek to be different today than I was yesterday and different tomorrow than I am today, growing away from who I was and towards the person I was created to be (in Jesus).
But Im also cautious of these dangerous mindsets. Yes I care for my body. I was bedridden from years and the food I eat and the activity I do have a huge impact on the healing process. But weight loss is honestly at the bottom of the list of priorities. It will come and eventually it will rise on the list.
But everyone else is always focused on “you look like you’re losing weight” and not the “wow you’re doing great moving around and getting stronger”.
I dont want to become “fat adaptive”, so when I saw your title it made me re-evaluate the reasoning weight loss is lower on the list to ensure there was no emotional reasoning.
(At one point in time I preferred being over weight as a shield from men 🤷🏻‍♀️. Ive forgiven them and healed and grown from it! But because it was at one point a foothold for PTSD I like to be intentional to ensure it remains firmly planted in Jesus emotionally and mentally)
This comment is totally unrelated to your video, I still have it paused at 14 seconds and Im sure of it lol.
I dont eat Keto simply because being on a spefic diet doesnt meet my goals, but I would say my diet is pretty much veggies and meat with some fruit and rare bread/noodles. So I will indeed still finish the video and check out others.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. I either don’t say anything or over-share 🤷🏻‍♀️
Thank you for bringing “fat adaption” to my attention, in both forms.
    God bless!

Perhaps the most difficult thing to overcome is the mental obstacle regarding eating habits.
I haven't eaten anything for around 18 hours. I lifted for a couple of hours this morning. It's about 1730 right now. My mind is telling me to eat an avocado and a salad. My body is telling me, "Bitch, you're not even hungry."
Learn to listen to the second voice. Keeping busy helps.

I'm 7 days in, and the most important thing I noticed, is that I no longer have these sugar crashes if I don't eat for a couple of hours, I used to fear being hungry, because my blood sugar would drop so fast, and the brain fog and cold sweats would come.
And my favourite thing: my hands aren't shaking anymore, even when I'm hungry, that never happened before.
