I’m American, but my hubby is Igbo and I am so happy that there are bloggers like yourself and other Nigerian bloggers that post their videos because they really help and has taught me so much when it comes to Naji food...Although he’s not Yoruba this video has saved me since it’s lent and he doesn’t eat meat anytime during lent. I know it won’t probably taste the same without regular meat, but I’ll just use fish.
OMG.... thank you sweetheart, I followed your step and cook this soup tonight and it is good. We nearly finish it but I have to reserve some I will take to work. You are the real deal. One thing, always trying to list the things to buy or ingredients on the description below. Thank you
Hi Abimbola, for this recipe, I did not Blanche the spinach. You can certainly Blanche yours, but you might lose some nutritional value by doing that. Thanks for watching!❤️

Hi Mercy! The seeds don’t dissolve in the soup, and I love those delicious little bites😀. But if you don’t like seeing them in your soup, you could crush it before adding it to the soup.
@@ceefade_athome oh good to read from you. Yours is the most recent efo riro on the platform... it really serve me right and well. Mine came out just as l desire. Many thanks.
Yea....it's fast if you keep prepped meat in your freezer. I always have packs of boiled or fried assorted meat in my freezer. Otherwise prepaeation can be stressful after a hard days work!!
Total duration is less than an hour. Most of the time is taken up by cooking the meat. But if you have pre-cooked meat, the soup itself takes about 30 minutes. Great question!!!
Hi Mercy, I took out the seeds, but I know that some people leave the seeds, so I guess it’s optional. Yeah. It’s hard to find Iru over here. You can have someone bring it for you from Nigeria. That’s what I do. Thanks for watching!!!

With time you will perfect your timing techniques. I gave u a thumbs up for clarity, speed, preparation & cleanliness. 💖💖💖

When you blended your peppers did you add water to blend them?
Nope. No water whatsoever.
Did you use hot water for the spinach?
Hi Mimi. No, I did not use hot water for the Spinach.
Omg! I am salivating.
Me too.....lol.
Did you use the British spinach ?
Hi Mojisola, I used baby spinach for this recipe.
Thanks for watching!
Did you fry the meats? Thanks for your response
Hi Moji, I didn’t fry the meat. I typically roast my meats unless I’m in a hurry, in which case I boil and use it as is.
Do we cook the spinach first before adding?
Hi Diaba, Spinach cooks super fast, so there’s no need to precook it. Just add it raw to the soup base.
Your eforiro looked delicious and I have a go at cooking it. You made it look easy.
By the way you are beautiful.
Thank you so much, Anthony !
Sister u make hungry , thank u for the food and the video
Thank you, Apple!
Which stew is the best to eat fufu?
Greetings from Germany, god bless 🙏❤
Great question, Deyno! There are so many different types of soup/stew, so it’s hard to pick a favorite. But I love Efo Riro!😍. Thanks for watching!
@@ceefade_athomeI will try ur recept, thanks for time 🙏💪
Hope you like it!
I loved the addition of mushrooms in it. May one use dried locust bean powder or is whole beans a must for this recipe? I found both online.
Hi Rivet, you can certainly use the dry locust beans. Maybe soak it for a lil bit before cooking. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Plan on making this in the next week or two! Just waiting on the locust bean powder to get here :)
What oil is it?
Palm oil
Thanks UA-cam save so many lives
🤣🤣
Is that powdered cray fish?
Yes it is 😊. I love that stuff.
Wifey go Dey do you shakara. Quitely making my eforiro while they are away. With your help of course 😬😂 Thanks
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I like that!!! Real men cook!!! I hope the soup turned out good! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Also how much spinach did you use
I didn’t really measure it. In typical African cooking, we eyeball everything....lol

It’s a great idea to store already cooked meat. It really does make life easier 😊. Thanks for watching!
Dear Chef, how long does it take to cook this from scratch to finish ?
Total duration is less than an hour. Most of the time is taken up by cooking the meat. But if you have pre-cooked meat, the soup itself takes about 30 minutes. Great question!!!
The spinach you use, is it Malabar spinach
Hi Henrietta. I used regular spinach
Thanks a lot. I’m making it this weekend 😍

@@ceefade_athome You're pretty much welcome dear Cee😍
Is the spinach parboiled?
That's common among the Yoruba's who actually own the delicacy
I forgot to add that I LOVE the soup; process, colour and recipe #kisses#
Thank you so much!🥰💖
No, I didn’t parboil it. Didn’t want to loose the freshness of the spinach.
Oh! That's lovely. I'm goona try that.
👍🏻
ANAICE ONE, LOOKS DELICIOUS. BIKO I NEED THAT WHITE BLOUSE ASAP.

@ Mercy....you can find Iru "Locust Beans" in most African Grocery Stores.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Was it only red bell peppers and habanero you used? No tomatoes right?
Yes, no tomatoes, just bell peppers and habanero.
You get me really excited. Where do you get iro?
Hi Happy, thanks for watching. I got my Iru from Nigeria, but I believe you can find it in your local African/Nigerian store
I like your skin and your soup
Thank you, Mercy!
you didn't show how you prepared the spinach
No prep for the spinach, I simply added the raw spinach to the soup.

I’m Igbo.
