    I’m American, but my hubby is Igbo and I am so happy that there are bloggers like yourself and other Nigerian bloggers that post their videos because they really help and has taught me so much when it comes to Naji food...Although he’s not Yoruba this video has saved me since it’s lent and he doesn’t eat meat anytime during lent. I know it won’t probably taste the same without regular meat, but I’ll just use fish.

      Hi Abimbola, for this recipe, I did not Blanche the spinach. You can certainly Blanche yours, but you might lose some nutritional value by doing that.

      Hi Moji, I didn’t fry the meat. I typically roast my meats unless I’m in a hurry, in which case I boil and use it as is.

      Hi Diaba, Spinach cooks super fast, so there’s no need to precook it. Just add it raw to the soup base.

    I loved the addition of mushrooms in it. May one use dried locust bean powder or is whole beans a must for this recipe? I found both online.

      Hi Mercy! The seeds don’t dissolve in the soup, and I love those delicious little bites😀. But if you don’t like seeing them in your soup, you could crush it before adding it to the soup.

      Yea....it's fast if you keep prepped meat in your freezer. I always have packs of boiled or fried assorted meat in my freezer. Otherwise prepaeation can be stressful after a hard days work!!

      Total duration is less than an hour. Most of the time is taken up by cooking the meat. But if you have pre-cooked meat, the soup itself takes about 30 minutes. Great question!!!

      Hi Mercy, I took out the seeds, but I know that some people leave the seeds, so I guess it’s optional. Yeah. It’s hard to find Iru over here. You can have someone bring it for you from Nigeria. That’s what I do. Thanks for watching!!!

      @@ceefade_athome - yes dear.... But cut really thin and soak for a few minutes in hot water to soften it slightly due to its tougher texture. Also add the collard green b4 the spinach.
