Stay at home as long as you can. Get your dog situated. Pay off your debt and save as much as you can. Also, at some point, get better employment. You can make it. I was in a very similar situation when I was in college (no dog.) Do not isolate yourself. Lean on your parents.

If your parents aren’t forcing you to move out, then don’t. Getting her own place won’t change the fact she has social anxiety.; if anything it will elevate it since your parents won’t be there to help. Personally, I think she should stay at home as long as possible…But if she must move out & buy a service dog, she should wait until she graduates and lands a career job (which will pay significantly more than her current job, depending on her major) before she moves out. It would allow her to pay back her parents for the dog much faster

I applaud this young lady for trying to be on her own. People with the negative comments should walk a mile in her shoes with her struggles. I know that being on your own will have a new set of problems and challenges. But these are her challenges. Shannon will be in a better position to deal with those challenges once she's on her own. At 61, I moved out of my father's house after being his caregiver for three years. My mother died five years ago, but that's another story for another time. Anyway, I feel free and independent for the first time ever; no more aggravation from dad!! Shannon, whatever you do, I wish you the best. DON'T LET THE HATERS GET YOU DOWN!!!

Continue working while living at home, and repay the parents for the cost of the dog before leaving home. I'm all for compassion for mental health but a lot of people are starting to have issues with how everybody in the younger generation seems to constantly be obsessed with their mental health.
A lot of people seem to almost wear their mental health like a badge of honor. They even refer to it as "my anxiety"
And then if on any level you suggest that the person needs to stop using their mental health as a crutch, you're a terrible awful person.
I don't know this lady calling. And she seems to be motivated to do the right thing so good for her.
But it just seems there's been such a trend of people becoming obsessed with mental health and then using it as an excuse for whatever they want, ie to not work (when busy-ing yourself is great for mental health, not staying home).
Point being, we can have compassion for mental health while also telling people that they need to stop using it as a crutch and letting it take their lives over

Having parents that’s selling their house and making sure you have no where to stay is almost like you being forced to move. I really need some advice only because my family is so toxic. So negative. To where someone is always starting an argument. To where if your mood isn’t there’s it’s, “you need to watch the way things come off if you want to live together again”, I get paid $15.50 a hour in ga but everything is so expensive. There are some apartments that I’ve seen for around $750-$900 but I also deal with anxiety. Social anxiety to be exact so I’m very much a introvert and being hurt by my family so much has made me realize for my mental health it’s better going me to find a place on my own. If anybody has any advice, it would be appreciated❤.

The caller should save their money and, if possible, DON'T leave the support of their parents, until they have secured a SUSTAINABLE career income capable of paying their "MINIMUM" INDEPENDENT EXPENSES!
Additionally, they should MANAGE their TIME and MONEY WISELY!!!
Adding the responsibility, obligations and liabilities of animals WILL guarantee an ADDED STRESSOR.
Find a HUMAN support group and/or "THERAPEUTIC" Hobbies.
And, if OBSESSED with the need for animal affections, a Shelter Pet can provide the same affection, at a FRACTION of the COST, of an animal with a SUPPORT "TITLE;" if they're willing to invest in the pet what they expect that pet to give.

Seems like she’s trying to do too much at once. Might be better to stay home and establish herself a little more before leaving. She will need to work more hours or get a different job, etc.

We have have raised an entire generation of weaklings, not talking about this girl in particular. You can see this with the huge spike of average girls starting Only Fans and becoming Sugar Babies. Anything to avoid real work. However, it will all come at a cost.

Anxiety and depression? Sounds like she needs David Goggins and the accountability mirror. Lift weights, stay active, eat clean, manage your inner circle and the controllables.

Do you spend much time around anyone under 24? So many people in that cohort have crippling anxiety and depression I don't think some squats and kettlebell workouts are going to fix it

@@natedogg890 that’s not at all what I said and it wasn’t the whole piece to what I said. Some people like to be victims, others like to take accountability and action. I can see what side of the line you stand on

@@andnew1335 I taught computer programming for 3D production on the side of my FT job at my local college for many years. I saw a huge change during the pandemic, where I lost about 2/3rd of my students due to mental health reasons. Either they dropped out, flunked out, several had mental breakdowns, one committed suicide. I believe in personal accountability too, but there is clearly something larger happening here.
Whether its the parents, the education system, or just general coddling, most of these kids haven't been prepared to deal with the kind of adversity that these crazy times have created for them. I tried my best, and managed to get some of the good ones jobs, but a lot of very promising kids fell through the cracks and I really worry about their future, and the future of the Western world if the next generation of workers just can't make it. I do a lot of hiring and we have to outsource more and more overseas.. whats that going to do to our competitiveness in a decade? I honestly don't know what the solution is, and I highly suspect that you and Walter Goggins don't either
