Thank you for your clear instructions Jenny. I know this is an older video, but I’m working on my second quilt top and I need to add some borders. I’m 73 and just now learning to quilt. I really love it. I just straight line quilt right now. I’m on a tight budget so I can’t send it to a longarm. I really enjoy your videos. Wish I was closer. I would love to visit your store. I’m in Texas.❤️

Jenny, you have helped me so much by watching your videos. I love watching all the steps of making quilts. Sometimes I have to watch several times to make sure I am doing the steps just like they should be. You make machine quilting so easy . All the little steps to get to the finished quilt are so well explained by you. Keep making tutorials Jenny. We love you from KY!!

Also, thank you for dealing with measuring on a smaller surface. Some of us live in places where their either isn't enough space for a big mat, or we can't afford a larger mat so we have to work with the smaller mats. Thanks for showing that this CAN be done, even if it is a hassle. It's more true-to-life for us apartment-dwellers who like quilting.

Jenny.... I just want to thank you for all the very educational and informative tutorials you do. Boy you sure make quilting look so easy... 🙂 I am attempting to make my first quilt; a simple quilt with square blocks and a border that I will QAYG. There are 2 things that I haven’t been able to clarify and was hoping you could help. Stitch length and thread weight. What stitch length should be used when piecing, adding the border, quilting the top, and binding? What thread weight should be used for those as well. If you’ve done a tutorial already could you please link it here. Thank you in advance.... Gina

Is it just a personal preference to sew the borders on with the quilt on bottom or on top..thought you needed turquoise
T on top so you can see and navigate the seams on the quilt ???

  • @donnanelson9181

I have seen a few videos where the longer of the quilt top or border is sewn with that on the downside bc the feed dogs help take up the slack bc they feed the bottom fabric faster than the top fabric feeds. Have you had that experience or what is your opinion on that?

Funny. I couldn't figure out what was different about the way you cut and the way I cut then I realized you are left handed. It looks so different. Maybe for right handed quilters you could demonstrate how we would have to do it. There is a difference that beginners might not figure out. Otherwise I dearly love everything about Jenny's tutorials and the business in general.

So I am just beginning to quilt and have made a lap size quilt for my daughter. The Office theme! I am watching videos on how to attach the border, and everyone says to measure, cut and sew on the sides. Why can’t I measure slightly longer, sew on the sides and trim afterwards?

    • @couchtoquilt7896

In this kit you should have enough for the borders as long as it was cut correctly. If you need more border fabric because your borders aren't long enough you can always piece more together.
