    Help, my three widths are 43.5, 41.75, and 40.5 (not sure how it got this bad 😩) which makes my border about 42 inches making it shorter on one end and longer on the other. Where do I pin the ends?
    Also, my seams allowances are all 1/4 inch. I think my squares were not the same size.
    Luckily my width is only 0.5 an inch off. 😅
    I feel like this quilt top is not savable unless I cut 8 inch blocks out of it and start over. What do you think?

    • @loribosecke3165
      @loribosecke3165  27 днів тому

      Yikes! Time to do damage control!! I would check and adjust the seam allowances along the edge of the quilt. Check each seam, often when we are at the end of a seam, we curve a little and the seam allowance is smaller (making the edge of the quilt wider than the middle). Once you've done that, re-measure. Honestly, 3" is too big of a difference and your quilt probably won't end up square anyway...one side will be loosey goosey and the other will be stretched out of shape. If you can get it to be about 2" difference you can work with that. Cut the border the average of the three measurements. Pin the ends, middle and 4 more points along the length...then stitch with the quilt on top and the border on the bottom (this helps prevent stretching the border). Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Lisa

      @@loribosecke3165 I was able to get closer to a 2 inch difference. Should I start with that border or should I do my length first since it’s closer to the same size? Hopes that makes sense.

    • @loribosecke3165
      @loribosecke3165  16 днів тому

      I would do my wonky ends first and see if they lie flat or if they are wavy on the outer edge. If they are longer on the outside edge...you could square them up and then add the long borders to help keep things square.

    Thank you, but I wish you had sewed it on. I learned about pinning the border, but not adding it to the quilt.

    • @loribosecke3165
      @loribosecke3165  4 дні тому

      Thanks for the feedback, all you have to do is sew the borders on with a 1/4" seam allowance.
