Donna's my first quilting teacher. Discovered her during the pandemic. Her videos helped me sail through the blues. I remember telling my partner that if we are ever in the US, we are not returning without visiting her shop - a pilgrimage of sorts! ❤
Sadly, her shop is online only. I was planning to drop in this summer, and found out they are not open to the public. I found this out by reading the ‘OurStory’ portion of their webpage.😪
I also wish their were more Border tutorials that are clear and not just a tad-bit showing. I have also learned a lot from watching Donna's tutorial. The only thing I don't like no matter who's tutorials is scrappy or tiny blocks. I donate all my scraps to our local Church Ladies that make quilts only for kids in need.
I’m in awe at your ability to transfer your vast knowledge to us… in such any easy, understandable and practical manner… so comfortable and I “USE” your techniques… thank you so much
I can't believe how much I have learned from watching this tutorial! Donna, you are such a great teacher and so inspiring as well. No more boring borders for me!

I'm pretty new in quilting but Iove your Videos so much! So many tricks and advices. You are such a good teacher! I watch your videos and think "oh that's not so difficult, I can do this as well! " Thank you so much for your passion. You make quilting so much easier and available for everyone. Greetings from Germany! ❤
The only problem with your video’s is that they end! Then I have to wait until you upload another one. Lol. Seriously though, I do love you videos. They are packed full of usable information without a lot of distractions. I always learn something from them. This one on pieced borders was excellent! Thanks for all the inspiration!
My grandmother told me that quilting, done right, is as much about ironing as it is about sewing. You make that point so clear in your wonderful tutorials!
Your grandma was a smart lady! Of all the crafting as my Nana got into, quilting wasn’t one of them. I had to learn on my own. No UA-cam or Facebook back then. It’s amazing my first quilt came out as good as it did! Lol. I have learned much from Donna in the last two years that I found her videos! I thank G-d for her and a few others that I watch.
Thank you for this tutorial, it makes so much sense, but you figured it out for us! Welcome to the silver sisterhood, your hair is lovely, and you will love the easy upkeep!
I think it is gorgeous also. I went to Jordan Fabrics to check and, as I thought, this is one of Matt Jordan's amazing Hand-Cuts. Donna is such a great instructor and Matt has the most fabulous eye for color combining. I have heard Donna say that purple and green combinations are a favorite for her. Me, too! Matt is also fabulously accurate in his cutting. This Log Cabin quilt, not including any borders or backing, is made from two (2) of the Pre-Cut 12 Block Log Cabin Quilt Kits called Garden Gathering. I can highly recommend Matt's Pre-cut kits because they are wonderful and really fast to sew. Not only are you an exceptional quilter, your method of teaching is fantastic. I always enjoy your videos. This one has been saved to my file. Love it!
Thank you Donna! I listen to you for hours while I work (and watch when I can) I have learned soooo much and can't wait to have some time to make all these beautiful patterns!
I can't praise you enough for your informative videos! Whether someone is a seasoned quilter looking for new ideas or someone new to quilting, your videos are self-explanatory. You make it look so easy! Thanks so much! I just love that green & purple batik log cabin quilt top!
Donna must feel like a kid in a candy store making her quilts … she can go to the shelf and always get the exact color she needs. Would love to visit the store some time. Last I heard it was only online sales. Such a great teacher. Love her. ❤❤
I spend a good deal of my day with my computer. And sewing. I'm spontaneous and usually work without a pattern. Your tutorials provide knowledge I use in my projects. Thank you for being straightforward, friendly, and practical.

I love watching your tutorials on how to make particular quilts but I watched your border tutorial today and was astonished at how easy it seems to make those borders. Can you do some more border tutorials on how to do more advanced borders? I would particularly like one on a flying geese border. Thanks for your consideration and for making these excellent videos.
Thank you, thank you for your straight-forward, well-explained and perfectly filmed videos! I am learning a lot. I see now what I was doing wrong with my borders. Thank you again-

I'm here in Oklahoma, too, and was just diagnosed today. Was getting my dose of inspiration from Ms Donna and trying to find that kitten panel from the giveaway quilt. It makes me smile...would love to make one like that! You all take care!
Donna, I love the diamond look border you made. My favorite of all of them. This video made me want to get quilting. I've had one pinned for a couple of months. Thanks for the inspiration, I'm on it today.
I love all of your videos, Donna, but this one is so packed full of fun and useful information. Keep on rocking' it, and we look forward to coming to visit your shop when it is safe to do so again.
Dear Donna.. First of all I have to thank you and your husband for my quilt work. I am Prakash Menon from south India. I have been watching your tutorials quite often. Imagine me, a man of 75 years old fellow recently made nice burgoolrset type rainbow colors guilt with the help of your lessons. Yesterday I started a second one of your diamond box with black and white boxes. I like, the way you explain and the giving enormous motivation for the beginners highly appreciated. I wish you and your entire family lots and lots success and happiness.
Those are all so beautiful. I love the colors in the quilt. A couple of those looked pretty tricky until you demonstrated how to do it. You are such a good teacher. You make things so clear and build such confidence! ❤
I have watched dozens. When I am watching the UA-cam of Donna‘s tutorials on my smart TV, unfortunately there is no place to show that you like them or can give a thumbs up. Unless somebody knows a secret I do not know. But I love Donna‘s tutorials she is the best ever and I’ve watched tons of other instructors. She makes it down to earth which is what I need at my age
I absolutely love all your videos! Most people I know binge watch videos on Netflix but I binge watch all your videos on UA-cam. Oh, plus I’ll rewatch them several times 😂 I’m excited to attempt making a quilt but I’m not quite there yet, I’ve got a ton to learn yet. Quilling is expensive so that stands in the way too, I use old clothing to practice sewing with. Thank you for giving us all so much information and entertainment.😊 Love and prayers from Delaware ❤️🙏
Sometimes you just have to dive in. I took the plunge when I was 30. I never to home-ec and taught myself on a basic machine I got on a close out sale. I read the manual and crossed my fingers! Using old clothes is exactly how quilting was originally done. Start with a beginner pattern. Donna has some or you can find lots of them online. Good luck!
I love using old clothing for sewing. Donna has well over 100 free patterns at jordanfabrics.com/pages/free-patterns-thumbnails You could keep pulling your clothing fabrics together with a plan to create something beautiful from one of the patterns. Since there are table runner, pillow, totes and other patterns there, you could start with something small. I like doing that because you can learn so much from it and it gives you an idea what kind of space, time, fabric, batting, backing and more that is needed for a big quilt. I think there is probably a tutorial for every free pattern. If you choose a pattern, search UA-cam with the words Jordan Fabrics + the name of that pattern. Enjoy!
@@trishwinstead28 that’s what I was thinking too. I’m going in for my 3rd heart surgery in a year the day before Thanksgiving. I wish I had the time and supplies to make something for my kids. I’ve watched every video Donna has at least once and I think there’s enough stuff I could handle on a regular machine. I’d love to have a quilt to have on my bed, something bright and cheerful since I spend most of my time there. She’s really awesome at breaking down the steps ❤️
I can't thank you enough for teaching this. I needed this for a quilt I'm working on. You are an exceptional teacher and artist. I appreciate your talents and generosity. xoxo
Loved this tutorial! Thank you so much, Donna. Your explanations and demonstration are always clear and the editing is just right. My quilting is ever-improving because of you.
I have watched many, many tutorials of Donna's and this is by far this most helpful one I have seen! I am always wondering what to do to make borders interesting. Please do more!!!
This is my favorite of your tutorials, the borders are fabulous, and the colors of your quilt just knocks my socks off! SOOO pretty!!! You’re such a treasure, Donna! Thank you for ALL your fantastic tutorials!! You inspired me to start quilting, at age 69. Having a BLAST!!! Family reaping the rewards😊. God bless the quilters of the world 🫶
Excellent close-up camera work makes it easy for us to follow what's being so meticulously explained. Just for that alone I'm going to subscribe :)! By the way, Donna, you move like a twenty year old! Love your energy.
Donna, thank you so much for the wonderful advice and samples of borders! I will save this one for sure!! Your tutorials are fabulous and I learn so much from you! Thank you!
Love these videos! Would you consider doing a tutorial on how to use up striped fabric? I noticed you avoid them when opening up fat quarters in previous tutorials.
Striped fabrics make a really neat binding, especially when it’s on the bias and wraps around the quilt like a candy cane. Also, with a bit of planning and careful and precise cutting, they make nice square in square and flying geese units. They can also make nice (and quick) mitered borders. It usually requires extra yardage for all these purposes (which is why she often sets them aside from precut bundles), but it does make a really nice affect in a quilt when used. I too, would like to see what else she would come up with. Donna has a fantastic eye for color and creative use for fabrics. I’m always amazed by her creativity, even when using someone else’s patterns.
So great to know i can measure & cut borders to width/length...so much easier than what i have been doing. Another great tutorial from the "queen of quilting" - thank you, Donna!❤

Thank you Donna for a great tutorial ,such unique border Ideas, I am trying to get Ideas for a science quilt I am making for my grandson. Thanks again Donna, love how you make complicated designs so easy to try.
Donna, this was perfect timing! I just finished the middle of my first quilt top and I have been trying to figure out the borders. I have leftover charm squares and now I know how to use them up to make a super cute border. I love your videos! I live in Portland and I was excited to find out that you are in Oregon too. When things get back to “normal”, I hope to visit your store.
this is the first time I have watched this channel and I have to say this is the most informative quilting channel I have seen! This is exactly the information I was looking for!!! thank you!
The timing for this tutorial is perfect! I have a quilt I'm working on and I wanted to add something special on two of the borders (to make it king size). I've spent the last two days trying to come up with something that would look really good without being too time consuming. Thank you for this video!! It's a great help!!
Love all these borders! 😍😍 I have used them as sashing too, especially the diamonds and the last border demonstrated. I put very narrow strips either side of the main piece then add the sashing to the quilt. 😊😊😊
Y'know, if you had lined up the strips so that you had a triangle of waste, you could join the triangle into a square and make a throw pillow, thus not wasting the fabric.
Another video packed with actual teaching rather than talking. Thanks for all the great ideas, you make it look so easy. I'll definitely be using them in future to dress up some panels I got.
@@jordanfabrics8380 If I wanted to make my diamonds bigger, how wide do I cut the sashing? You did 2 1-2” strips for the diamonds and 3 1/2” background sashing on both sides. If I cut my diamond strips 4” do I cut the background sashing strips 5”?
I missed the giveaway for these but LOVE the wall hanging with the cats! Our family are all cat people (one son has 4 rescue cats...2 who are sisters dumped on our farm as small kittens, the other two are brother and sister dumped on a shelter doorstep) and we have 3 along with our daughter and granddaughter's 3 cats right now in our house! Yes we have several litter boxes and clean them often. Lol. So I would love to make 3 or 4 like that. Where did you get the panel please.

I can't think of anything more to say other than to repeat all that has been said before. What a talent, what an inspiration ! Thank you, thank you, Donna and family. I loved all the borders, too. Your idea sounds great.
Another GREAT TUTORIAL! You do the BEST videos. I so enjoy them. I learn something every time. Thank you so much!
Donna, one of the give away quilts has a striped border. Could you show how to add a striped border similar to that one?
Donna, I just watched your video on borders and I enjoyed it so much! Thank you for your wonderful videos!
Darn - I just finished putting the boards on my quilt yesterday. Wish I had seen this earlier. Oh well, ideas for the coming quilts
I really love the different borders . I have learned a lot from watching your videos and if I get stuck I just re watch them. Many thanks Donna
Wonderful tutorial, can we see a similar one regarding different styles of sashing, please?
I'll see what we can do!

If I wanted to make my diamonds bigger, how wide do I cut the sashing? You did 2 1-2” strips for the diamonds and 3 1/2” background sashing on both sides. If I cut my diamond strips 4” do I cut the background sashing strips 5”?
Love the colors on that quilt !
Donna.I love this tutorial and I am so thankful for all tutorial that you give to us. Gratitude always and one day I am going to your store and if I am lucky enough I am going to see you. Thank you so much
Using two different blocks for quarter squares would send my slightly ocd mind right 'round the bend!!

I can't think of anything more to say other than to repeat all that has been said before. What a talent, what an inspiration ! Thank you, thank you, Donna and family. You saved my sanity during lockdown and now I can't stop patch working and quilting ! How I wish I lived down the road from Jordan's Fabrics - my bank account is probably grateful that I don't !
What about wide borders, and double and triple borders. We need to discuss this.
I thought we did.
@@jjk109 I will research. I must have missed it
