I was dropped from boot camp and sent home for medical issues and honestly, I was in the gutter when I came back 2 months later. Knowing my platoon was still training while I was home made me mad and wonder why did it happen to me but eventually I started seeing an allergist to get me right physically and get me back on the path to re-enlist.
So far I know which allergies I have and I’ve bought some programs to help me get into better shape than the last time I left in and I’m excited for next year. Thanks for the video sir

SSGT NICHOLS everyday that experience stays in my head. The word Quitter stays lingering in my subconscious and even times waking up in the middle of the night. I’m 52 and still can’t get it out. My life has been great. But I still keep this regret. Thank you for answering.

You are an unbelievable motivation. Several years ago I had everything going for me. 23 years old, amazing job... I had a awful health issue pop up out of no where. I had to resign from my job due to it and my world was turned upside down. These 4 things, didn’t realize at the time, powered me through. I wish I had your videos then to give me that extra. You’re an inspiration. Keep it coming Staff Sergeant!!

2007 my bestfriend died. I decided to join the Marines. But after obtaining my GED and 15 college credits i was flagged at MEPS because a corporal sent my entire police record up and i was flagged. Never quit and never give up was embedded in my brain. So i began a journey traveling to several different recruiting stations and speaking with all kinds of recruiters. I was 250 pounds and dropped down to 185. In the end i was pass the age limit and all that hardwork i felt was pointless. 2015 i got a call from the ARMY the same day i quit my job. Spoke to a recruiter and my weight was 265.. i couldn't even believe it. But these soldiers didn't know my story and i said ill be back. Only 1 man believed in me a E6 Infantryman. I made weight at 186 pounds and my moral wavier was sent up to USAREC For approval after interviewing with both company and battalion commanders. October 2016 my wavier was disapproved. I literally hung up the phone with my recruiter and started crying. I felt ashamed of my past and always felt people can change but the Military could careless of your hard work, weight loss, or Integrity. From 2007 to 2016 this journey came to an end. 2017 our commander and Chief decided to expand our Military numbers. I got a phone call in January if i was ready for round 2. I replied fuck yeah why not.. things change everyday in the ARMY so i decided to try again. I was back to being overweight so i started running. Well, March 2017 i dehydrated and starved myself back to 184.6 pounds. I never felt more crappier in my life. And guess what my wavier was approved. I joined at 31 as an Infantryman and shipped out 1 week later. My Military career lasted 5 weeks and i was medically Discharged. 106.7 fever and excessive amounts of protein in my urine. According to the Army i joined with issue prior to my entry to service. I was not fit for duty and was told to see a doctor and i can come right back in. Depression oh depression... well God tested me again and I went to A Nephrologist and sure enough my kidneys were destroyed. Cutting weight and not being healthy destroyed my body and immune system. After low sodium diet and weeks or clean eating and water only.. and the grace of God i was released from the nephrologist care with no protein in my urine. That is 1000% Gods doing because i was tested for about 50 different things from cancers to blood diseases and walked away good to go. I took that paperwork and drove to the recruiting office and said here you go! Im ready to enlist again. He said you have to drop weight again so i started to TRY to run and couldn't... 1 Xray and MRI later i needed ankle surgery. Why am i not ment to be in the Military lord. November 2nd 2018 i had surgery. In a wheelchair for 4 months until i started therapy. I started Training April 22nd 2018 but my ankle is healing slowly. I started college March 2018 to get my Bachelor's degree in Business Management. Concentration in Information technology. I have until July 2020 to join the army again before im 35. I have jogged, hill sprints, and regular sprints and ankle still hurts. Im 230 pounds need to be 186. I hit the gym for this first time in forever Friday. Bench, curls, triceps, legs, and walked up hill for an hour. I barley can move today as im writing this SSGT. But i haven't Quit on my goal to be a service member. This story is my story and i can easily walk away from this Obstacle that has been relevant for so long. But in my heart if i quit now... when i turn 35 ill fucking regret it. I was running and calling cadence at a PT function for future Soldiers and it was cold and raining. There was only one cadence that came to mind. HEY HEY DIDDLY BOP BOP, I WISH I WAS BACK ON THE BLOCK BLOCK, WITH A 40 IN MY HAND, IM GONNA BE A DRINKING MAN!! Well, you know the rest. My story will continue as my mind will give up everything i have right now to join again. So until i make weight and this ankle stops being a bitch i will keep limping forward. Because GOD is number one in my life and everything happens for a reason. My faith is in him to grant me 1 more opportunity to serve. Love the content brother you inspired me when i was a young man wanting to be a Marine and you inspire me now. Blessing to you and your family and god willing you can reply to this with advice, knowledge, and best approach you would take. Semper Fi / Hail oh Hail the Infantry.

What a motivating story of NEVER QUIT AND NEVER GIVE UP! To answer your question about advice / knowledge / best approach. If you have to lose 44 pounds by July, that gives you about 8 months to prepare. Find a workout program that you can CONSISTENTLY perform every day for six days per week. No workouts that are so intense that you can only do it for a few days and then not do them anymore. Something along the lines of 20 pullups per day (no matter if you can only do one pullup at a time), 100 pushups per day (even if you can only do one pushup at a time), and 100 situps per day, and a three mile run per day (even if you have to walk / run over the three miles). Lifting weights like you're doing is good, as long as you don't get injured. Consistency without injury is the secret for the workout. Something that I didn't see mentioned in your story above is your diet plan. You MUST eat clean at all times. That means vegetables, fruits, lean fish / chicken are good, junk food, simple calories, sodas, are bad. Drink only water and no fruit juices or sodas. It's not just about how many calories you consume, but it's also about your body being able to burn clean fuel. Would you put bad gasoline in a Ferrari? Treat your body like a Ferrari. Follow these two suggestions (1) clean consistent diet, (2) consistent workout plan, and you have the best chance of meeting the weight goal for the Army before July. Importantly, these will set you up for long term health success, which is something you'll need for a long and memorable Army career. OOH RAH!

Isaiah 59:19 says When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight. The standard is Jesus. It is the cross that is our standard. I also believe that part of that standard is believers who help and lift one another, whether it be through motivation, instruction, and guidance during the times of famine that the enemy tries to destroy us. Hard times make harder people. Thank you SSGT Nichols for your service to our country. Thank you for continuing to serve others today, through videos like this. Still has the look in his eyes. Marines do have an endless fire that burns deep down. But if you were to pass him on a day to day deal, you might not suspect that at one point he was in the top 10% of the Marine Corps. DI's are held to a very high standard. Didn't realize until much later down the road just how hard they have to work. That's what I always tell new aspiring recruits, when you think you're tired and your DI is just there to make you miserable, remember he's even more tired than you. These men and women get very little sleep dunning their cycles.

I am not speaking for myself I was just wondering if men and women with diabetes disabilities can ever join the Military I have heard other DI say We can't lower the standard of the program and I get that.I just wonder if the Military can step up and find a way for the standard to meet us were we might be in order to succeed.
