Part of spiritual development is to recognize the Satanic tendencies that characterize you and to fully wrestle with them and to- and to integrate them. That's the thing. It's-it’s not so much to cast them away. It's to transmute them, you know. And you can see the difference between people who've done that and people who haven't, at least to some degree, because people who haven't integrated the shadow at all are naive. And you can tell that when you look at them and you can tell that when you talk to them. And because they're naive, they're often resentful as well because they get taken advantage of. And someone who's integrated that more, they're dangerous in the-in the martial arts sort of way, which is they're dangerous, but they don't have to be. They don't have to use it because their presence radiates implicit potential for havoc. And that's really necessary. It's one of the things that gives people self-respect. If you're harmless, you're not virtuous. You're just harmless. You're like a rabbit. A rabbit isn't virtuous. It's just... It just can't do anything except get eaten! It's not virtuous. If you're a monster and you don't act monstrously, then you're virtuous. But you also have to be a monster. Well, you see this all the time. Harry Potter is like that, too. It's like he's- he's flawed, he's hurt. He's got evil in him. He can talk to snakes, man. He breaks rules all the time. All the time. He's not obedient at all. But, you know, he has a good reason for breaking the rules. And if he couldn't break the rules, him and his little clique of rule breaking, you know, troublemakers, if they didn't break the rules, they wouldn't attain the highest goal. So it's very peculiar, but it's a very, very, very, very common mythological notion. You know, the hero has to be... The hero has to be a monster. But a controlled monster. Batman is like that, you know? I mean, it's-it's everywhere. It's-it's the story you always hear. If you're going to be a fighter, you have to want to win and you have to want to hurt people. I mean, not for the sake of hurting them. That's what makes you different than an evil person. But you have to have that capacity. You have to develop that. And, you know, that's a step on the way to enlightenment, weirdly enough, because that isn't what people think. People have been fed this diet of pablum, rights and impulsive freedom for so long. There's just an absolute starvation for the other side of the story. There are no rights, technically speaking, without responsibilities. And all we've had for 60 years is a dialog about rights. Well, that leaves a hole on the other side of the story, and it's a hole that- that’s in people's hearts, essentially, because responsibility- well, perhaps that's not more important than rights. Like I said, they're they're part and parcel of the same formula. But it's in responsibility that most people find the meaning that sustains them through life. It's not in happiness. It's not in impulsive pleasure. Those things blow away at the first ill wind. But to adopt the responsibility for your own well-being and to try to put your family together and to try to serve your community and to try to seek for eternal truth and to live them- that's the sort of thing that can ground you in- in your life enough so that you can withstand the difficulty of life. And when you tell people that, especially when you include yourself in the audience, let's say, and you're not finger waving from above, then everyone knows that it's true. There's been this attempt to identify masculine competence and- and power, let's say, but mostly competence with tyranny. And that's very, very hard on- on young men. It's also hard on young women, for that matter. But it's very helpful for people to hear that they should make themselves competent and dangerous and take their proper place in the world because it's the alternative to being weak. And weak is not good. The people who shoot up the high schools, they're weak. They're weak. And life is a very difficult process. And you're not prepared for it unless...

@@patdaly4107 I think you missed the point of Batman entirely. Yes he was a hurt boy out for revenge... in some way we all are. But he channelled that into dedicating himself to protecting others. Heroic acts are what make you a hero. He's the epitome of rich, handsome, and powerful. A metaphor for what we all think we want, but yet instead of following the usual tendency to find "happiness" with those things he found purpose instead. We don't just find him compelling because he looks cool and punches hard. We see in him what we wish we were. Powerful but controlled. Dedicated to something greater instead of self serving.

Im 48 years old and it took me this long to grow fangs and claws. And every single thing in my life has changed for the better because of it. What kills me is that the transition from disrespect to respect only takes a matter of seconds. You can see their eyes change imstantly when you tell them "You will not treat me that way." And I spent decades of my life running from it because I wanted people to like me. And they did like me, hell they loved me.....but they didnt RESPECT me.
My advice to young people is this.... abuse is never okay. TELL THEM! Starting right now. Tell them "You will not treat me that way." And if they refuse to comply? Force them to comply. Let them know through your words and actions that you will never stop coming back for more. If they kick your ass? Come back for more. If they humiliate you? Come back for more. NO ONE wants to stand in front of an immoveable object. NO ONE.
Which is where Peterson's argument applies. It helps in those situations to at least be capable of violence, to be a monster. Your words on willpower of course applies however.
Out of all the comments I have read, this man appears to experience and understand the principle in the right context. It is quite counterintuitive to me that the world is full of people who see kindness as weakness and always look around to put others down. Such should be taught their lesson, that kindness is a choice and not a weakness. May you live strong and die strong!

I was bullied for 3 years
I was a small guy (imagine a 14 year old guy who's only 5ft and around 100lbs) so I was bullied even by girls. Never fought in my life and was taught to never hit a girl.
At one moment I became tired of everything and decided to practice martial arts. I guess you could say it was my first conscious decision I've made myself. I thought of it myself,I signed up myself and I did it for myself.
I haven't done MMA in almost 3 years now, but I do still workout(can't reach consistency due to health complications).
And I have to admit that it's true about becoming a monster. Once you get that confidence, strength, violence...People around you might notice it before you.
I still haven't fought once, because my bullies have realised that I'm not prey anymore. It's hard not to notice when a skinny small kid gains 20lbs of muscle and 6 inches to height. It just scared them off...
I've been to a few unpleasant situations after that, but it never ended up with violence, because it's not your size that matters, it's how you act in a stressful environment

Jordan Peterson, Kevin Samuels, all of these people that I have discovered has completely changed the way I view things, one of the things I have learned from my father is "Don't mistake kindness for weakness", I never realized what it meant until recently, I no longer have the simp energy, I now have the metal energy, the energy where I'm calm and peaceful whenever, but if I'm in a situation where I have to bring out the aggressive side of me, then I will, I won't be afraid to do so.
Wow. I can't believe it took me so long to discover this guy.
If someone had told me this when I was 14 or 15 it would have changed my life.
He's a hero... He's literally saving lives and helping thousands and thousands of people... And has totally sacrificed his normal and comfortable life to do so.

Fortunately (on the one hand), he has developed enough of a variety of projects of various types in order that he will (or at least can)manage to sustain himself regardless of what happens regarding his “license”.
However (on the other hand), he must fight against the unreasonable attacks against himself, simply as a matter of principle…. and, ironically enough, as a matter of the very principles which he is discussing in this video.
He's trash! A few things might be right, but in the majority he's garbage.
But it may be better if Dr. Peterson gives up his license so that He's not obligated to follow the rules of a corrupt, tyrannical, and power hungry group of ideologues. His license currently only serves as shackles.

I learned this lesson a long time ago, you can't always be the hero you want but sometimes you must be the monster that people, that you, need to be.
Totally agree. I was out of control for a good portion of my life. Cruel, and insensitive. Now, knowing my ability to be cruel, yet not chosing it, is a milestone achievement for myself. Knowing that I can destroy someone with a minimal amount of words is powerful enough.
What an epiphany. So I think you mean do on to others as they would on to you. That’s how we get along in society. Not even rocket science.

Speaking from a multiple fighting champions perspective that has always defended the weak even as a kid. Someone acting like you did, especially with just words…is either a consequence of a feeling of inadequacy, personal suffering, or sociopathy. I never comment on UA-cam, but glad you realized you needed to rework your flawed characteristics, most people never do.
Fucked up a lot of people that diddnt just talk like you used to when I was in school, lmao.
Now I understand myself better than I ever have. It scares me to think of what I could do to another person. I understand my power. It's too much power. It HAS to be controlled. I was taught this in 1st grade and didn't realize it. Now I understand why people that shouldn't befriend me, do befriend me. People think I'm a veteran. People think I know martial arts. I'm not and I don't but I guess I project that type of power. Wild!

Is what he saying is absolutely correct! I was bullied and picked on and abused by my classmates for over a decade. For my elementary days all the way up to my sophomore year. There were circumstances in my life that made me a target. Every single day I went through some kind of Bullying. During my sophomore year I was punched in the back by another student someone who'd picked on me a lot and something in me snapped. I lost complete control kind of blacked out without going unconscious, When I came to I had this kid pinned beneath my knees and with basically imitating the scene from a Christmas story on his face. It took 2 teachers and 3 other students to pull me off the top of this kid. They tried to expel me I only got suspended for 2 weeks cause my dad threatened to Sue the school board because of all the years of bullying nothing ever was done and they knew that this was going to happen someday. After I came back to school nobody bullied me nobody messed with me nobody picked on me. In fact some of the kids that used to be the biggest offenders wanted to become my friend. So yes bearing your fangs from time to time can be a good thing!
Same here. I don’t regret any of it. It’s made me who I am. I did however, stand up for myself no matter who, or what was said and done.

And still bothers me to this day that I have that kind of rage and aggression and violence built up inside me waiting to blow.... Just think about that.... What if I would have had access to guns? What if my snapping point happened at a point where I could make plans as opposed to spontaneously... Would I have been one of those lunatics in the news?. More than likely that is why you have to pay attention and you have to stop the bullying the teachers need to get involved and they need to get it ended they can't just keep letting it happen Because until society starts cracking down on the problem of children being dixed to each other. We're gonna keep seeing repeats of this again and again and again and again and again and again. In my case I was just lucky that I snapped in school on a spur of a moment but it all built up to there that and it was a much earlier time period. We're discussed we're settled more with fist fights than bullets

I can't believe the same words I said to myself at age 9 were so on point and those words has been a foundation stone for who I am today. And I'm a martial artist too, so I know how this goes to that idea too.
I have always tried to “do no harm” throughout my life. Its always resulted in situations that I had no control over. Situations where I was taken advantage of or stepped over if not on. Im not bitter but I now understand Its necessary to become someone capable of setting the record straight. Im open to suggestions for sources where I can learn that skillset.

I hope this can add more clarity. This is not about defeating your demons or hiding a dark side somewhere in the corner. It is about learning to accept and love all that you are, including the monster. You realize what you are capable of and you harness that power without letting it control you.

The idea 💡 is to demonstrate God ❤is not separate from you, or what you deem "God" i call it Source Intelligence cause it is pure logic... Anyone know why Jesus behaved the way he did?
BECAUSE love is logical... It not displayed. By the time you reach Christs perfect love ❤ well.... The emotional display is completely gone... All that ensues translates to peace ✌️ inner peace and that inner peace is a purely mathematical logical computation order of whose going to survive and whose not. I believe they call it Reya's nemesis (warrior nun 🍿🎥 Netflix show) where she is the destroyer of worlds 🌎 after Adriel fails at placing the demons inside of people's bodies as their "host vehicles" inorder to spare ALL CREATION (per the Netflix series show) basically this guy was seeking to spare everyone in altruism empathy he wanted to make all humans equal to divinity to GOD Reya in this case... So he presumes Reya didn't know how to rule or run her creation.
I think it's her realm but there's higher beings from what this guy discloses which means it is Infinity ♾️ but still Reya is equally POWERFUL she's a force to reckoned with she is feared for good reason which is why Adriel is scared of the 👑 crown of Thorns because it represents CHRIST ❤ himself basically saying crucifixion of agonizing never ending hell which is Reya's hand 👏 in this case she has the suffering to bare... You see her crying at the end as she turns around realizing what is about to unfold... The destruction of many aspects of the COSMOS. Nothing she can do to stop it...
So she created Lilith instead gave her Reya's blood knowing she would defy her to contain her to rule the world 🌎 and the demons while unable to approach her in heaven ☝️ because Adriel already did that and screwed over Reya so she learned ah ha separate the world's this time....
Anyway the lesson here is, God's love ❤️ of unconditional Mercy is actually nothing more than PURE LOGIC at extremes levels of computational analysis.

Instead she had to bring heaven to Earth 🌎 👇 by literally using semantics language basically flipping 🙃 Earth and Heaven upside down, this then triggered the "Gatekeepers" which is the Demons to be able to appear on Earth through portals.... She did that on purpose... Because the Demons is what held back Adriel and anyone from reaching GOD it's the void between worlds where they exist so no one can go to heaven without first crossing them...
Now Reya being ALL THAT IS or what is what will be and has been she's infinity and eternal being recognizes this...
Ava doesn't realize that what ALL THAT IS SAYS WILL BE SO. She winds up in the same predicament foretold... ☝️ That's what Michael was basically saying Reya is the Almighty Goddess 👑 it is not a Man 👞👞 but a Woman God.
Next appears the Demons and ta da, Adriel is caught up to Heaven to meet the Goddess 👑☝️ he disappeared leaving behind the mess of both worlds on Earth now which she has to wrestle with now as the Holy War... To unfold...
Now Lilith sees too because she can see the demons ... And she realizes uh oh she too will be caught up in the apocalypse to unfold and now realizes Reya is full authority... But for her stuck in the lower realm so she can manage the earth 🌎 basically Satan or the new version of it... She's stuck with the demons forced to contain them because now she too will be in hell.
Its a good show everyone should watch it there's a lot to be learned from it. It's basically the battle between heaven and earth 🌎👇 ☝️ and the learning that LOVE is logical and purely mathematical artificial intelligence created... Reya's world doesn't exist, it cannot be found... 👇 Hence no one can access it 👇 ONLY if she allows you to enter it and then she brings you to her golden gates castle 🏰 while she only displays on computer screen as a face in her world she's a real person.

Jordan Peterson talks about "integrating the shadow", about being "satanic", while the Lord taught us that the Light and the dark ess have NOTHiNG in common. Read about how the "great psychotherapist" Yung eventually ended up. Did his death bear a sign of grace? I am afraid, as immensely talented as he is, Jordan Peterson did not really meet God or become enlightened, he just made the compromise with the devil that least hurt him. This has the same energy as a bullied kid who became hateful of society and became dangerous because of what he went through and never got any help compared to a bad boy who learned the error of his ways as he grew up and learned to control his negative emotions, met various people and became a better man.

I went on an Ayahuasca retreat 10 yrs ago, a few years before most knew what it was, thinking I would stumble into some hippie afterlife culture. Instead I met some of the wisest people, who said learning about the shadow self is the first step to real progress. Btw, the medicine does what JP was talking about, a trip into the darkness and darkest part of yourself (deep, unshielded introspection) where only your strength of will can save you from the nightmare abyss you see when confronting your true self.

I've tried to pass these lessons I've learned the hard way to my kids, but only time will tell whether I've been successful or not.
You know... What sucks about this is that this is something I've had to learn at a very young age. I had to wrestle with my demons before I was even a teenager, and now at age 22 I understand my own darkness better than most adults I know understand theirs. I can contain my monster because I understand that I myself am a monster, and a lot of what they're talking about here is stuff I've already been through. My step-mom would always build me up just to break me down again, "undermining" me as they say here. I'm just glad I turned out better for it.

I felt elation when my father died, because of how he treated me. I will feel elation when my mother dies, because she allowed it and stayed with him.
But mostly I feel elated, because their examples showed me how not to parent, and I now have two sons whom I am immensely proud of, and who have never, ever for a single second experienced what I experiened.
Sometimes, a bad example is all you need to be a good parent.

i think we all truly is grateful for all jordan is doing for our generation of young men. I can remember that i started watching you 2 years ago trying to better my life and now this Christmas i literally bought my parents a $30,0000 gift at 17 years old. I think having a meaning/purpose is also my definition of happiness. I want to create a positive change for society, I want to help people and bring a smile where it’s needed.

I have the same monster in me that my father had but he lacked will and discipline so his darkness took over. I have an iron will so I harnessed my darkness giving it a greater purpose. I became the man, husband, and father I am today by being the opposite of my father. I became the gentle giant that strikes fear into the hearts of those wishing to do my family harm
