You have my sympathies. My phone died last year. But I had to borrow an old one from a relative (thanks brother) because my boiler needed repair, kitchen flooded etc and keeps eating up all the money I manage to save. I have money in savings but as I only use a phone in emergencies I refuse to dig into the emergency fund to buy a new one…..
Congratulations on the working boiler. I was very excited to get mine back, even though I can’t really afford to run the heating!

I'm of two minds, being a home owner. I bought my first (and only) house 20 years ago and paid off the mortgage three years ago. Great! But I do miss the old apartment-dwelling days when something would go wrong and I'd just contact the landlord. His problem, not mine. After 20 years in this house, I STILL don't have a reliable plumber. Lots of headaches, but it's worth it in the end.

0:40 - At least it was residual water and valve were closed! Unlucky for us last year, we forgot to shut off from inside and drain, compression elbow popped open outside above garden tap. Yep, water feature, at least it was outside 🫣😬

@@Patchy Not the only problem we had, boiler condensate pipe also froze too causing boiler to shut down, had to disconnect that hose under the boiler and place bucket to get it working. (You may have seen news of everyone having the same problems 😂)

I’m not sure whether or not it is your intention nevertheless your videos are charming. They make me believe, however falsely, that I’d be capable of renovating even though I’m into design not production.

Ive been living in my place for over ten years and i always seem to be walking around the house with a screwdriver or paint brush or the likes. Constant battle
On a sidenote, did i see you take a kettle from the bathroom? I assume that was a water heater resolution, now fixed, rather than a sudden upskilling of expertise in tea making that even the most urgent of bathroom emergency can wait for? :)

Aw well I'm hoping that getting all of the renovations done now, I'll have a good period of no need for screwdrivers/paintbrushes myself...! Wishful thinking maybe. And you did indeed spot a kettle haha. It wasn't there for any practical use, just laziness when throwing out old bits and bobs!

Oh the frozen pipe thing. Well, it happens and you'll remember for the next freeze. Where I live the weather person will sometimes remind people to let the faucet drip its going to be way below zero that night. It happens but next time you will remember. Thats pretty neat that the one appliance does two jobs. You know, there is nothing wrong with getting a fee or a discount for mentioning a product in your video. This platform is all about money and why not draw on that benefit once in a while.

Another good job done, George. You have a very helpful Dad. In the properties for sale in Scotland I've looked at in the past very few seem to be connected to mains gas. I'd be a bit worried about how to manage a system running on oil. I suppose you just get used to it 🌻.

Not just Scotland, many places throughout GB do not have mains gas, the main difference is you need an oil storage tank located easily for the fuel delivery lorry and you need to pay upfront for the oil and have the boiler serviced regularly.
