Robin Williams was a national treasure, but no one could touch Phil Hartman's Reagan impersonation. Losing Hartman as we did was tragic.

As if. Hartman's was an amusing caricature. This impression is dead on.
I think SNL replaced Hartman as Reagan because too many of Reagan's supporters liked it.
He was not a 'national treasure'. He was a coked up comedian, and nothing else.
His facial expressions were incredible. He was a great actor. I whish we could tell him all these honest soul words. Maybe he still would be with us... RIP
Not just the facial expressions - the head movements at 1:09-1:13 are exact imitations of Reagan's.
the man was in pain. it wasn't just depression. it was hallucinations and physical pain too.

Lmao, that part with the police radio interference reminds me of Marlon Brando. In his later years working on a movie he made a demand to have an ear piece in that they could read his lines to him on. They did it, and that exact thing happened. He actually started repeating the police radio chatter. True story.

I'm surprised that was Robin Williams. I immediately recognized his face but the voice was pretty close to Ronald Reagan. Some people have tons of talent.

Phil Hartman had a presence and magnetism in SNL only a few people had, like John Belushi, Bill Murray or Eddie Murphy. 89 to 92 SNL cast was my favorite.
The entire last part was absolutely Robin just improvising....that's how much of a genius he was!!! My god!
I love Robin Williams. As a kid Hook and Aladdin were two of favorite movies growing up. The world lost one the greatest treasures in Robin Williams!
I watched hook the other day as a adult, and it was still a amazing movie! stood the test of time very well!

COMEDY GOLD!!!! Robin as Reagan doing a police report. I miss Robin and Phil---I imagine they are entertaining heaven.
This man is one of my biggest heroes, ever single one of his impressions is so acute and erudite that he seems almost indistinguishable from the real person. His comedy is a result of profound Intellectual observation and excellent co-ordination of both body and voice (clearly a result of his illustrious Julliard training), I feel personally honoured that one of my ex-girlfriends used to compare me to him. Today's so-called "comedians" could learn a great deal from this exceptional man.
This is a great observation. Now that he's gone, he'll only be appreciated even more. Immensely talented and charming man

Wow, I missed this one, too. This must have been during an era when I had other things to do on Saturday night. Robin Williams channeling his channel switching insanity through a Ronald Reagan facade was amazing.

Only Robin Williams could have pulled off that skit. That was Robin’s strong point, chaotic comedy. This was extremely funny, yet clean!!!

Robin has always been my hero ever since Aladdin, jumanji, and his early stand ups. His death took a lot of light out of this world.
Robin Williams had such a profound impact on my childhood affecting my ability to function as a stable human being.
I assume it was a positive effect. Which is interesting, though, he being sadly far from stable.
@@daverockwell1996 of course it was positive. i didn't get he was on cocaine for the first part of his career until i was an adult, which explained a lot of the crazy live performances, but his natural energy and unequaled improvisational outbursts is what i was attracted to. plus Hook is the best Peter Pan story ever.

There was a slit where Reagen was outside welcoming Congressmen into a building. The sound effects were done with sounds of lightening and thunder going off with flashes of light from the press. It was hilarious. I wish you could find it.
Robin would have made one of the greatest cast members ever! The world is a little less without his legendary talent.

Robin is one of a kind! I was depressed for days after hearing of his death and how. Ironically it would have greatly upset him to know how hard many took it. He was all about making people feel good, he must have been in so much pain toward the end.
The loss of Robin is the ONLY time I actually cried when I heard he was gone. My dad was a huge fan as well; and had his HBO specials on VHS when I was a kid. Robin was a huge part of many people's childhoods.
Sorry; I meant to say that he was the only famous person that I cried about when I heard he had passed.
