It was considered HEAVY metal because of the counterculture aspects of the band. People used to protest their concerts. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the only major song they play that doesn't have a live version. I saw them perform it live, and they changed the lyrics to be more suitable to the audience.
YESSSS! Love this performance! Thanks for reacting to it. I want to point out that Bill Ward’s drums sound more thumpy than snappy here- it’s because he’s hitting his drums with the thick end of the drumsticks! Like the opposite of the usual way they’re held. You can see it if you look close when he’s on screen. He’s a great drummer and this here is a great example of why. Cheers!
Can't understand a single word Ozzy says, but when he sings it's clear as day. Love it.
Yes, Bill Ward on Drums. Awsome!!
Bill is on fire here! Great reaction guys ❤🔥
Just realised that Bill Ward was the very first genuine heavy metal drummer

The Beatles- Helter Skelter. This is hard rock/proto-metal/proto-punk from 1968.

I always thought "in the fields, the bodies burning" was a reference to vietnam napalm.
It is,like the others 2 major rockband back then like deep purple and Led Zeppelin they were contested the Vietnam ’s war
Sabbath blood Sabbath from the album of the same name. Before you wander away from Sabbath.
I hope you listen to the studio version, they put a lot of work into it. It's like a musical journey.
It’s about politicians and corporations making money from wars.
And this is when head banging became a thing!
He wasn't nick named the prince of darkness for no reason
