This movie literally gave me Arachnophobia as a kid, but for the sake of my love of this channel, I shall persist.
Me too. However, I've gotten better about it over the past few years. Let most of the spiders I find in my house outside.
I have severe arachnophobia. I have always had it, but I remember watching this when I was young and it scarred me. I still remember certain scenes. I was not looking at the screen while listening to this podcast but I still want to give them my view.
@@Pestica88 Yeah. I saw it when I was around 6-7. My half-sister was having a sleepover with a neighbor, and I snuck in to watch it. I remember this movie vividly.
Weirdly, it did the opposite for me. It made me really interested in spiders and even as an adult it left me with the bad habit of trying to grab any spider I see lol

They are minions of SATAN and i'm positive they're only fueled by a boiling rage towards life.
one day I walked into my old apartment and I heard footsteps, something like you'd hear if a small dog is running around... BUT I had no doggie and thought it was a big rat. As soon I turned the lights on, I saw the biggest tarantula ever and she was, in fact, so big and heavy that you could hear it walking.
I removed myself from the front door, just said "If you don't mind" while pointing outside and the spider ACTUALLY LEFT as it was waiting for it!!

Whomever yea I know it’s not meant as a compliment I just wouldn’t go as far as calling it a slur
Carpetbaggers were profiteers who came from the North to take advantage of the reconstruction era southerners. they were called that for the cheap luggage cases they would bring that were made of carpet fabric.
@@nathanmcdougall1093 probably time to reevaluate the carpet bagger I figure. Seems to me they came down and wanted money for their work and Southerners had been too used to not having to pay their workers...
I remember Eight Legged Freaks being one of the only “scary” movies I could watch as a kid as a huge chicken. And I absolutely LOVED it!
Same! I loved watching it. Made me feel brave lol.
I effing love that movie. I HATE spiders so fricking much but that movie is hilarious and I fall out everytime those damn spiders laugh
Eight Legged Freaks solidified my appreciation for David Arquette as an actor. Fun movie, awesome effects for its time, and it would make for both an awesome kill count and a great podcast. Btw does anyone else remember that epic FPS that was made to promote the Eight Legged Freaks movie?
Omg I love eight legged freaks! When my nephew (now 14) was young I bought it on DVD and we watched it together and he loved it, now my 7 year old has that same DVD in his collection of nighttime movies lol
WolfManDano23 omg lol! I did not know they made a FPS! I need to play this now.

Maybe it's because I'm binging all these podcast episodes, but it seems like all roads lead back to Psycho 1998. There is no escape.
"Carpetbagger" refers to northerners who moved to the south after the Civil War to profit from the reconstruction era. I'm from the South, it's a very common expression down here.
I have SEVERE arachnophobia so I've never been able to watch this movie, but at least I could enjoy the podcast. Thanks, guys!

One year I watched that movie everyday for a month after school in 5th grade. It’s a classic.
I actually just watched this last week, the bug catcher was definitely the best part of the movie, and young Julian Sands.

The spider in the shower scene was the most realistic part of the entire movie. I have had that happened to me before and I never close my eyes in the shower any longer that 10 seconds because of it 😂
Chelsea mentioned the avondale spider and I immediately had to look it up, since I'm an Aussie and I've near heard of it. Saw a picture, it's a huntsman. I didn't realise they were social, but maybe that explains why they always seem to be hanging out closer than other spiders tend to. I always try and get them outside if I can, they're one of my faves
I hate spiders but love John Goodman so I am torn
I remember the movie trailer as a kid and I always thought it was a comedy lol
43:44 you turn your head so you dont cough in your doctors face lol
Jeff Daniels’ memory of the spider crawling up his body while he was a helpless toddler is a setup for the climax of the film, when he has to wait while the General spider crawls up the length of his body to the piece of wood so he can catapult it away.
since they asked, i’ve got some examples of songs made for movies (at least for super hero movies)
-Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee for Spiderman: into the Spider-verse
-Venom by Eminem for Venom
-Pray for me by The Weekend and Kendrick Lamar for Black Panther
Hero by nickleback from the original spiderman with Tobey mcguire
The turning your head, while you "turn your head and cough" is simply so you don't cough in the doctor's face. lol
James is looking like Skeet Ulrich on the Scream DVD cover, I dig it.

Thank you guys for everything you do. You helped me learn to respect the horror genre that I never understood before. I've learned so much through your podcasts and kill counts. And while I fell off the wagon of watching for a while, the past couple of weeks you've been a real lifeline. When everything felt bleak and almost nothing sounded worthwhile anymore, the thought of sitting and listening to you two talk about what you love still sounds good. Things feel a little less bad after listening and learning with your videos. I'm sure I'm not the only one who you've made a difference for. So really, thank you.
Ahh, Arachnophobia! When I was about 8 years old, my older brother had to watch me while our family was out. He had no idea what to do, so he set me down in the basement to watch whatever was on TV. It was this movie! It gave me a quite literally crippling fear of spiders. I start to shake and feel like I’ll be attacked when I just think of the little demons. I’m making this comment before watching because I don’t know if I’ll be able to get through it, but I’ll do my best for my favorite podcast! If I can’t do it, I’ll leave it on in the background so you still get my view.

Story time : when I was little I used to live in my brothers room with bunk beds . And one night while I was like 7-8 yrs old I was on the top bunk and I was messing around and I fell over the rail just like Jeff Daniels in the third act and landing on (luckily) on a pile of blankets on the floor.
