Born in '74. We were terrified of bees after Killer Bees. Oh, you just said it. Yeah, it was on the news - they showed maps of how fast they would "spread", coming up from Texas. My father, of course, didn't help. He'd make buzzing sounds outside our bedroom door. I was 5 or 6.
Just pulled an all nighter bottle feeding foster kittens. This is exactly what I needed right now! (Besides more coffee) love the podcasts!!

Just watched a crazy movie from the 70s called Bug about fire-starting mutant cockroaches that are released by an earthquake. Just a suggestion for another wildly 70s bug movie.
That movie was dope! Saw this flick on t.v. in the late '70's when I was a kid...scared the crap out of me! After watching that movie, I jumped every time I saw a cockroach! And they grew big in Houston! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I confused this with the tv movie The Savage Bees from 1976 because I was waiting to see how y'all would react to the bee cover car in the stadium. This was fun with the crazy way certain things were set up. It was a lot more 70s than I remembered lol. B~)

Shawn Coyner It was an article in a science magazine (I think New Scientist?) 3-4 years ago. Had a bunch of physics and aeronautics in it that was WAY over my head. I only remember it because the saying Rafigo used was on my high school coach’s office wall 30 years ago and always stuck with me. Just caught my eye.

Chelsea mentioned that there were lots of bees movies in the 70’s and I’ve noticed lots of spider movies from the 70’s too. We had “Kingdom of the Spiders”, “Tarantulas: the Deadly Cargo” and “the Giant Spider Invasion” (which is best viewed on MST3K 😜).

I love James been watching him since 7th grade I’m in 9th now not that long but he really brought out my love for horror movies I try to watch every movie he does a kill count on of course I can’t watch all of them but I watch as many as I can
I've had "Killer" bee honey before. It had a slightly citrusy taste. Also, part of why inciting a swarm of bees is dangerous is that repeated exposure to bee venom can sensitize them to it, resulting in a seemingly out of nowhere anaphylactic response to it. Persons in the medical or dental field sometimes experience the same issue with latex.
Coming home after a hard day I find this video in my notifications. All I can say is Thank You. This is exactly what I need right now.
Given all the bee history and the racial implications, the legend of "Candyman" makes a LOT more sense.

It's been a while since I've watched your videos...Chelsea has longer hair and James looks like a 70s detective. I like it.
Yeah...I was a kid in the 70's and I remember the 'killer bee' craze that was going on then. I grew up in Houston, so I was really afraid, since it was told that the bees were going to come up through Texas first...LOL!
Anyway, the best of the bee movies I've watched (in my opinion) was a made for t.v. 1976 movie called "The Savage Bees", that took place in New Orleans. This one had the bees brought in on a freighter from Brazil, with the crew dead from bee stings.
