Great Scott, fancy seein you here! Agreed, though. I like how they didn't even try with the sequels to ground them in ANY reality whatsoever. The first one has SOME grounding... 2nd one is a cartoon in live-action and the third one takes it up several notches into COMPLETE insanity and unrealistic chaos, but that makes these more fun.

Rewatching the Basket Case kill counts again, and I do find it pretty interesting how 2 inverts the dynamic between Belial and Duane from 1. In the first one, Duane is starting to push outward and gain some semblance of a normal life, and Belial ruins that chance for him out of jealousy. In 2, Duane is DESPERATE to try and get there again, but it's actually Belial who is getting to have a more normal life. That pushes Duane to be the jealous and irrational one this time, culminating in the re-stitching at the end. Neither will allow the other to have any kind of "normalcy" in their life unless they can have it, too.

Honestly, yeah. They could've taken the easy route and made the individuals have more realistic physical disabilities such as acromegaly like other horror movies tend to do, but went against it instead. Really makes Basket Case 2 more memorable, I loved seeing all the designs they came up with. Would love to see an interview with the practical effect artists who worked on this movie.
Does anyone else smile when James feels happy? His face is just so genuine like I am not a softie, but this man is one of the most real people I have seen.

He’s thankfully getting a lot more sleep these days lol. In those early videos he had a full time job as well as doing Dead Meat episodes right after work. Apparently it was normal for him to only get like 4-5 hours of sleep. Nice to see that all that work has paid off and he seems much happier and healthier now!

That’s so awesome that they really made sure not to make it mean or mocking of people with real deformities and designed the characters as cartoony as they could. So many times tv and film makers don’t care about things like that ESPECIALLY back then. That was such a wholesome breathe of fresh air to hear.

This movie is amazing, and it's so beautiful how well granny and the freaks get along. I also appreciate Dwayne's character arch, saying he wants to be normal and run away from his problems, but realizing this is who he is and there's people that need him.
Edit: Even seeing him completely snap, that's still one hell of a great character arch, damn! It's like he tried to become normal through it, but snapped partway through. Also, for some reason I wasn't bothered at all by the Belial and Eve sex scene, I think because I was just so damn happy for him the disgust just didn't happen.
The Freaks here look like a less diaturbing version of the ones in Spy Kids
