Rewatched all of these not long ago... And the First scene with Magneto and Professor X. And the line " We are the future, Charles, not them! They no longer matter." is effing brilliant as an introduction to them and you get that they have a long scarred friendship... Great show!
Lewent Ersoy hahaha. Sexual Preference is nobodies business to judge, but he IS definitely Bias. I was shocked he put First Class before Apocalypse. I figured he'd rank Singer, Singer, Singer, Singer, First Class. lol.
They're friends. And if he didn't like one of Singer's films, he'd be completely honest. He knows why his friend makes his decisions, and will defend those reasons, even if Robert disagrees with them. Why? Because a loyal friend should always have your back.
+Brad Demiter I've only seen a few episodes of the first season as I am only just getting into the franchise. I've really enjoyed the few episodes I've seen, but I can see where you're coming from.
My order as far as best ones goes... 1. Days of Future Past 2. X2 3. First Class 4. X-men 5. The Wolverine 6. X-men Last Stand 7. X-men Orgins Wolverine [Haven't seen Apocalypse yet]
X-2 still remains to this day one of my favorite CBMs. To be fair, despite my criticisms of Singer's vision of the X-men; I'm actually a big fan of his. Unusual Suspects is one of my favorite films. What I love about X-2 was that it built upon the first X-men and made it so much better. The idea of a human hating mutants to where he'd wished to kill them all. That's very different from the first movie. And while not accurate to the comics, Brian Cox was amazing as William Stryker. Wolverine's story is explored perfectly. The weapon X flashbacks are PERFECT. It's baffling how Origins couldn't copy that. But then again, Rothman was a dick so I can't blame the director fully. And while having a lot of characters, the film manages to have a cohesive narrative. My favorite scenes being the White House scene with Nightcrawler and the fight Wolverine had against Lady Deathstrike. That said, the film is dated. And it does show. Also, those black jumpsuits. Look horrible. But for what it was worth; it was great. Everyone cites Days of Future Past. That film is so overrated. It's a good film and I enjoyed it. But it literally came at the price of diluting Vaughn's vision of First Class. A film that while having its flaws, I did genuinely enjoy. I just hope Singer's last film is Apocalypse. Much like what Singer did for the first X-men; Fox needs to stop retreading the well. And find some new directors. And not Tim Miller. I like Tim Miller, but we need a new face. Someone who can bring a fresh perspective.
XMEN opened the door to what we have today. This was my first superhero goosebumps movie. Maybe Iron Man cemented it, but without X-Men, who knows what would have happened. Yeah I can't watch it endlessly anymore, because of the quality we have today, but the opening scene with Nazi's basically set the tone for the entire series of movies and that tone has been the tone of the entire X-Men universe. The best Professor X and Magneto we could wish for. I'm also sold on Fassbender, not so much on McAvoy. The best Wolverine we could wish for. It opened up that entire universe.
Thanks for a great show! I love this trio of hosts. Colider Heroes is my favorite Colider series. I've been a huge fan of the X-Men since the 1980s and love the movies. I think RMB has a good point about how cool the intro part of Wolverine Origins is. I like this movie better than X3 even if those two rank at the bottom of the movies so far.
Ah 2000, back when expectations weren't orbiting the stratosphere and people were just excited to see their characters on the big screen w/o excessive bitching and moaning.
1. DoFP 2. Deadpool 3. First Class 4. X2 5. The Wolverine 6. X-Men 7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine 8. Last Stand Have not seen Apocalypse, but guessing may be new #4 Meh-
+Pizza God They do costumes that work for the characters of the MOVIE ADAPTATIONS.. Deadpool totally worked for the character adaptation of that movie and just happened to be totally faithful to the comics, can't see Hugh Jackman's Wolverine wearing a costume to be honest.
+Tony LeeIm they're going to need to recast him soon here, after Old Man Logan. Maybe then we can get a true comic version of Wolverine. My greatest wish would be a Fox / Marvel crossover. Hulk and Wolverine movie!!!.... Sigh, not in my lifetime I'm afraid with all the issues between them
Magneto's initial attack on the Nazis was the first time I saw someone from my heritage exude power over the boogeymen that tattoed the arm of my grandfather and killed his family. Needless to say, I've sided with him ever since, and that first X-film has stuck with me.
I'm so ready for X-Apocalypse now. My favorite books have always been X-Men and Neil's Sandman. Looking forward to the next installment. Great discussion!
I just recently watched the first 3 X Men and I got to say The Last Stand gets a raw deal. I was entertained throughout and I found it more enjoyable than the first X-Men. Why does everybody hate The Last Stand?
my favourite x-men film is X2 and the x-men theme is that is awesome I am glad they brought back John Ottman for DOFP and I hope the theme returns for Apocalypse as well.
X-Men was my favorite comic book growing up in the 80s and 90s. The movies are by far my favorite comic book franchise. (Yes even more so than the MCU). I LOVE the way that they made it realistic. Black leather suits ARE better than yellow and blue spandex. There were some stinkers in the list, but ultimately its been a great series. And honestly, even the stinkers, don't bother me. I am shocked that comic book fans hate on things that are different. Hello... its a comic book. There are SO many different takes on each character. Think of the movies as another world/adaptation. Why the fuck would you want exactly the same story? In any case, I can't wait for Apocalypse and Wolverine 3. And just for fun, I have to rank them DoFP is my all time favorite X2 a really close 2nd place X1 The Wolverine X3 and Wolverine Origins are tied for 5th place. I didn't HATE them, and honestly, other than Deadpool, I though Origins was ok. First Class in last place. I honestly felt it was boring and didn't like the way they took Mystique. I am hoping Apocalypse and Wolverine 3 are high on the list when they come out.
I went back and watched X-2 this past weekend and I still totally enjoyed it. I would say that Deadpool is my favorite X-universe movie and after that I'd go Days of Future Past, First Class, X-2 and then the original X-Men.
lmao so true. the villian gets more focus than the x-men lool. wht next ultron gettin more screen time than captain america. fox logic put mystique as the leader wht next leonardo dicaprio as toad leading the x-men
+Jonathan M. Lowe The X Men movies do not live up or last on. Action was never team oriented and "you all ignore" Magneto is the villain over and over and over. Women in the X Men movies like Rogue, Jean Grey, Storm and more have never... ever had any impact other than boring or negative. All characters of color throughout are killed, bad guys or a placeholder. X Men movies are Wolverine, Magneto, Mystake (I know misspelled it) and now Quicksilver movies. Nice try but these movies fail in their lineage!
I think I was the only one who thought Ledger was going to kill it as the Joker. But, he had already won me over with his performance in A Knight's Tale.
Critics are mixed on Apocalypse, but it's not dampening my excitement. The critics hated Batman v Superman and I loved it, so I'm hopeful this will be a similar situation. Also, My top 5 x-men films(currently) are: 1) Days of Future Past, 2) X2, 3) X-men 4) First Class and in at a very distant 5) Last Stand.
Great Heroes episode guys! The road was great and now it's time to face apocalypse! :D I'm seeing it tomorow. So I'm binge watching all of the previous ones to get prepared..( made a break to see this episode :) ).. Tnx for the trip down memory lane to the X mansion.. Keep it sweaty :D
Awesome episode! Loved it! I'm more into the X-men comics than I am the movies. I'm glad to have the movies, because the comics took a dive for me between Messiah Complex and AVX.
Credit to singer because he took a chance with x-men when no one think it could be done, but honestly he has no understanding of the x-men world, and the stories and why they are important. and the characters.
for me these dont feel like superhero movies they just have a different vibe that is like a breath of fresh air in the world of comic book movies that is today
Top 5 X-Men films for me are 1. Days of Future Past 2. First Class 3. X2 4. The Wolverine 5. X-men If we include Deadpool than that is at number 4. Also my top 3 X-men films are also in my top 10 comic book movies
X-Men List i order of favorite. 1. X-Men: Days of Future Past 2. X2 3. Deadpool 4. First Class 5. X-Men 6. X-Men: The Last Stand 7. The Wolverine 8. Origins: Wolvercrap
Bryan Singer took his crew and Bret Ratner was kind of left with nothing so he had to improvise with whatever material he had to complete the film. There are some extended/alternated scenes for the Last Stand that is slightly better than the theatrical version. Also the alternate ending with Logan in The Last Stand brings it back to the first X-Men during the bar sequence.
I thoroughly enjoyed X-Men, and X-2 even more. I immediately denied X-Men: Last Stand to be apart of my X-Men cinematic canon. Sadly, the same for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I was tentative to see X-Men: First Class, and I am so happy that I did. Wolverine (like they said in the video) was amazing until after the brief ninja fight scene. Then X-Men: Days of Future Past came out and I was once again excited with the outcome (and the Star Trek-esque alternate timeline ending). I am hopeful for X-Men: Apocolypse. Now, with both versions of the characters as canon... I am confused as to whether they are seperate realities, or the same. If they are seperate... I can get with that and be satisfied with stories involving either cast. However, if they are the in the same reality... when will they begin to overlap / connect? After the 90s era X-Men following this movie? So, as of now (until I see X-Men: Apocolypse)... my X-Men Cinematic Universe is as follows: X-Men, X-2, X-men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocolyopse (unless I get burned again).
The first X-Men film did help superhero films in general. And it did have great things in it BUT I thought it wasn't a good film and had alot of problems. X2 was a solid film I really enjoyed that one. I don't even have to mention Last Stand or Wolverine Origins. First Class is a great film, really enjoyed The Wolverine, Days of Future Past is probably the best X-Men film for me, and ofcourse Deadpool was great.
X2: X-Men United, at the time was my Avengers. Similar experience, and I took the ending as a promise and could not wait for the the third film and man that final result made me sick to my stomach...X2 is still in my top ten list. As for First Class, those costumes were solid, the only fanboy nitpick I have is that it was missing an "X" on their pectoral area or belt haha.
The Wolverine theatrical cut suffered the same fate as BVS in my opinion. I saw the unleashed edition of The Wolverine and I have to say that version is so different than the theatrical version. Their are extended scenes, alternate scenes, extended dialogues, alternate dialogues, extended action shots, deleted action shots, different camera shots which are way better than the theatrical version. The Unleashed edition of the Wolverine is the definitive version and had they showed that in the theaters maybe the film would have gotten better reviews. I still have no idea why they didn't shows some of those extra scenes because those scenes would have filled in the blanks nicely. I feel directors don't want to show the integral storylines that are crucial to the film maybe they are not confident about those certain elements not fitting properly. But when I saw the unleashed/extended version of The Wolverine it was a big improvement.
Has anyone else been reading superman American alien? The last issue came out today and it was such amazing ending I really hope someone from Warner Bros calls max Landis for the man of Steel sequel
The way Amy felt about X3 is the way I felt about Wolverine Origins. Dream castings like Liev Schreiber and Ryan Reynolds, but the direction and script were so terrible. At least Ryan Reynolds was able to come back and give us the movie we deserved!
BTW, just have to point out that you are complaining about a one week delay for theatrical release right after talking about Deadpool ("came out today") which blu-ray doesn't release here in Finland for almost 2 months. I'm american, I lived there over 30 years before moving abroad but now that I do live abroad it kinda bugs me when Americans complain about getting things slightly later than EU when the majority of movies release in the states weeks or even months before they show up here.
Hell yeah I love Tuesdays because of Heroes Schnepp is the man.
I like Wednesday because in my country it's already Wednesday and it's Flash day .
+AnaheimDucks93 Agreed. It's the only thing to look forward to on Tuesdays other than the usual movie talk.

One of the things I hate about the old X-Men movies is how they treated my favorite X-Man Cyclops.
Yup, he was never the leader he was supposed to be.
I think this movie sets it up to make tye sheridans cyclops more of a leader in future films
Exactly. Fox has never done right by Cyclops. They pushed him aside in favor of Wolverine and for some reason now Mystique.
Cyclops should be like how Captain America was in the Avengers movies. The definitive leader.
+Jamail -van Westering and with more character, and problems because like superman, captain america can be a bit too bland or straightforward sometimes

I'm pretty sure no one loves Fox's Rogue
+HerculesJones Fox doesn't like Fox's Rogue. Should've just gave her the damn super strength.
+rurutu M I heard they did a better job with Cyclops in this new film. You didn't like Colossus in Deadpool?
i loved her alot. *shrugs*
Now that you mentioned it are they doing Rogue only in present day? because she's a teenager in X1 that's extremely dissapointing
+SuperShanko Jennifer Lawrence would have made a much better Rogue.
Amy! just saw you on the recent episode of the Chelsea show on Netflix, awesome job
Good episode :) thanks Jon, Amy and Robert! :)

i agree
Yea I didn't add deadpool because I didn't really see it as a x-men movie but if you do I put it before first class
Thanks Amy, Robert, and Jon!
X2 is by far my favourite of the franchise, it was freaking awesome.

What a great retrospective. I grew up on these X-Men films. Even though early reviews are wishy-washy, I'm still excited for X-Men Apocalypse.
Can't wait for Apocalypse, the X-Men film franchise is one of the best out there
X-MEn the LAst Stand came out on my birthday. It wasn't a very happy one lol.
X MEN FIRST CLASS is the best X MEN movie and one of the best Comic book movies and movie in general
I love that Amy has become a permanent fixture on Heroes, DC may have their trinity, but UA-cam now has theirs...Schnepp, Burnett, and Dallen...
Best panel! Amy is the best!!!!!
i hate how we have all these wolverine performances-
still no proper costume
+Pizza God They do costumes that work for the characters of the MOVIE ADAPTATIONS..
Deadpool totally worked for the character adaptation of that movie and just happened to be totally faithful to the comics,
can't see Hugh Jackman's Wolverine wearing a costume to be honest.

Sorry wasn't clear but meant like the whole black/yellow costume from the comics with the mask/helmet

Yupp what I'm sayin.
Master Edi
Well I hear there's talks of them adapting his daughter in the comics when he's done being Wolverine. May have an X-23 movie adaptation.
Magneto's initial attack on the Nazis was the first time I saw someone from my heritage exude power over the boogeymen that tattoed the arm of my grandfather and killed his family. Needless to say, I've sided with him ever since, and that first X-film has stuck with me.
First Class was so good, the death of Darwin was something, that's pretty much where those young x-men grew and realized this was no joke.
I'm so ready for X-Apocalypse now. My favorite books have always been X-Men and Neil's Sandman. Looking forward to the next installment. Great discussion!
First Class is my favorite X-Men movie! I love it!
I just recently watched the first 3 X Men and I got to say The Last Stand gets a raw deal. I was entertained throughout and I found it more enjoyable than the first X-Men. Why does everybody hate The Last Stand?

8. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
I like this crew. It is like having fun time with friends! you make up my tuesday everyweek. cheers
I don't check out Heroes that much but I will from now on. Really enjoyed this! Seeing Apocalypse tomorrow
I am still very optimistic about this film despite what others say.

this was so great and a nice surprise
can i be on the next episode if there is a part two of this? at least i have watched all x-men movies
Oh yeah, happy belated birthday Schnepp.
As for First Class, those costumes were solid, the only fanboy nitpick I have is that it was missing an "X" on their pectoral area or belt haha.
great work guys
1. Days of Future Past
2. X-Men 2
3. First Class
4. Deadpool
5. The Wolverine
6. X-Men
7. The Last Stand
8. Wolverine Origins
1. X-Men 2
2. Days of Future Past
3. Deadpool
4. X-Men
5. The Wolverine
6. First Class
7. Origins: Wolverine
8. Last Stand
Has anyone else been reading superman American alien? The last issue came out today and it was such amazing ending I really hope someone from Warner Bros calls max Landis for the man of Steel sequel
"EYY, WASSUP MAH SWEATIES"
-Schnepp, my new favorite saying
My only issues with First Class come from the changes to the canon of X-Men 1-3 but other than that nitpick it is fantastic
The X-Men as a whole wasn't trying to recruit Deadpool. Just Colossus being who he is was. Always trying to see the good in people.
