Thanks Chris for the ever support to the Fuji system. Always my reference when to refresh my knowledge over this system. Well done (again). Cheers Carlos
Man this programme is epic for editing easily the internal film simulations... Thank you for sharing this advice! 👌🏼
I am watching this after just having purchased my first X-T3 - you channel is one of the single biggest reasons for me moving to Fujifilm! Thank you so very much for all of the vital work you have put into this channel, it has been fantastically informative and is my go-to reference guide! Enjoy your well deserved rest and please keep up the priceless work that you’re doing!
This is the only channel where I have the notification bell turned on. Great content, always learning new things to try out with my Fuji Camera. This was not the exception! P.S. Too bad this won't work on my XT-1 :(
Thanks again. One additional nice feature is that the histogram shows an indicator for where your pointer is. As a editing novice, I found this helpful e.g. when taking portraits where the subject needs a very different exposure level than the background/foreground.
Enjoyed this video Chris. looks like a fun project to learn this winter.
You are doing a great great job! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love every single video that goes online! Best wishes from Germany!!!
Thank you so much!
Very very cool info! Especially about saving custom settings onto your camera from the RS software. Thank you as always for grade A tips and info. Have a good week and until next time. :)
🤯🤯🤯🤯My mind is just blown away right now! This deep learning right there and I love it😍
Another fantastic vlog (as always)!!!
I don't know how you do it, but every video is better than the last!
I don't even shoot RAW, but I love the idea of adding named profile recipes to my camera!!!
I've known about this for awhile, but never cared to use it. That is, until you mentioned the X-T4 Custom profiles!!! That is amazing, I have to have to adjust things in camera. Thanks Chris!!!
Thank you! I love using X Raw Studio because it's allow me to use custom recipes, and sometimes it's a lot easier than C1. Have a nice weekend!
You too Carlos!!!! Cheers!!! 👍
This is absolutely fabulous. You are awesome! You said you can’t save anything aka store on the camera but you saved “Field Brown”. Which I love by the way. 👍👏
Thanks a lot Chris!!! This sounds very interesting. I'm gonna try it.
About direct hex editing, it shouldn't work because the standard practice is to use CRC, metadata signatures, etc, to detect corruption and tampering. Also, data structures would be different between camera models so the X RAW Studio software would find inconsistencies. But it was worth trying anyway.
Thanks a lot again for the video and have a great weekend!!
I'm new to Fuji (XS20) loving the camera and loving your channel, keep it up mate, great content
I love your videos. You're an excellent teacher ;) I've learned a lot from your videos. Thank youi!
3:30 I think it does refers to the live preview while your editing the photos with the software (and you may want more speed since the software itself is very slow in communicating with the camera and sending back the conversions). It does not affect final conversion step from RAW to JPEG.
That Custom Profile creation work around is great. Thanks
FANTASTIC VIDEO AGAIN!!!!
Another great video! Thanks very informative
Excellent vid as always 💪🏼🙏🏼
HAHA Chris!! Affectionately aka Wayne Szalinski, but Today went full NEO in the Fuji Matrix 😂 AND THANK U for continuing to distinguish X-T3 from X-T4, it REALLY helps 🙏🏽 super appreciative of the content like DAAMN CHRisSss the content thooooo 🙀🔥
You're amazing... I heard of this but never tried it. I can't wait to do upload a final image for you to see.
Thanks for summarice the points for the camera settings and the tip for the cable. Last one did confuse me a lot.
DUDE! All over this - 🤩thanks for all u do!
Gosh, this is a really useful guide to using RAW files and the Fuji RAW software. I wish I was a photographer.
Been using it with my X-S10, very easy and nice to use. I didn't know about turning off the usb power setting though, thank's for that. Nice demo.
Ohh another great and interesting video.. thanks!
Another Master Class 👍👍
great video - short and very informative - Fujifilm should pay you!
I have enjoyed using this programme on my Mac. I hope Fujifilm will bring out a version for iPad OS as it would be great when eventually I go travelling again. Would make a great on the road editor.
man.. everytime i look for something fuji specific theres always a video from you popping up, luckily i already know your way of explaining & teaching is so great so i don't have to bother with someone elses contet ;-)
Great video. Explains a lot!
The Fujifilm software is what led me to the full version of SilkyPix Developer Studio Pro. It's amazing software.
I need a drink and a cigarette after watching this to get calm again😁
That's what I did three times because I am french and my english skills are...french haha hihi :)
From Indonesia 😂
I have been meaning to get into X Raw Studio for a while so you’ve convinced me to finally try it out. I’m having an issue with it crashing on my MacBook however. It loads find but when I’m scrolling through photos in a folder it just crashes and I get the usual MacOS error message. The other thing that accompanies this is my X-S10 then starts making a feint high pitched noise. This is only rectified by removing and re-connecting the usb cable.
Gonna try it. Thanks Chris!!
This is what I needed. Thank you sir 👨❤️💋👨🤝
OMG you can set custom profiles???!!!! This is perfect for loading Fuji X Weekly recipes for film simulations!!!!
Works on XT4. I don't think on XT3 though.
@@pal2tech Damn
@@pal2tech Right! But you can save the simulations to the Fujifilm X RAW Studio and apply them as needed....btw getting X-T4 next week WooHoo!
@@pal2tech do you know if you can set custom profiles on the X-s10 ?
@fujifilm please include this feature on XTrans III/X-Processor Pro generation too
Killer video. Super-competent, dynamic and very engaging. Almost feel like you're going to sell me a Ginsu knife for only 9.99 - kidding. 😉 Fun way to have information delivered. I will using this. Masterfully done.
Those were good knives.... killer for slicing bread and Thanksgiving hams!
: )
Another fantastic (and incredibly useful) video! You need to get a guy fawkes mask to wear when filming “hacking” segments 😉. Awesome content as always.
This video was so informative. I wish there was a way to use it on other Fujifilm files. I definitely don't have the same cameras for some of the raw files I want to play with.
awesome video
two tumbs up👍👍
Thank you so much.
Phew, thanks for that Chris
Very helpful! I've been an X100 shooter for 7 years, now with a V, but shoot RAW. Mainly because I don't use JPEGs from camera, even with film sims. Being able to apply those sims to RAW files is great! Why didn't I know this before. PS: Maybe drink de-caf before making your videos? 😎
VIDEO SUGGESTION: What about a video on flash combability? Many might have other brand flashes that they like to use with the Fuji gear, especially if they moved to Fuji recently. I use a ticker system for my non-Fuji flashes. Also, good to mention that flashes does not work with ES turned on due to the need for curtain functionality.
Thanks for sharing this video on XRaw Studio. I've been using this program for a very long time and I always talk about it when people suggest using this or that raw converter. I have Ubuntu on my computer so I need to run this in a virtual machine which works just fine. The only problem with XRaw is - as you also stress in the video, that you need to own the camera that took the original photo in order to process it. I went from an X-T2 to an X-T4 and of course that camera won't process any of the X-T2 files. This can be a problem since most people tend to sell off their used gear in order to fund the next upgrade. If you need something that will consistently process your entire gallery, you do need a software raw converter I think. One question for you @pal2tech about that usb power setting. I never turned that off before and have left the camera plugged in for ages. What is the risk with doing that? In fact what does that function even do? Anyway thanks again for sharing and keep making more videos :-)
Great tutorial for a software I never meant to use before, looks much smoother for a soft editing. Definitely I’ll try once I’ll come back by next trip. Is it possibile to save and load custom profiles into the camera with the XT3?
We know what we must do this weekend 😛 !
Enjoy your vacation 👍🏼
Thank you for this video...I was excited to try this out. My MacBook Air recognized the camera, but it's not pulling up and allowing me to save the created recipes to the camera? Any ideas of why this would be?
Excellent content. Thank you very much! Do you have any opinions on using a program like Iridient Digital instead of Capture one. I'm locked into Adobe for many reasons... Thanks again!
Hi Chris, Thanks a lot for all your videos. You are one big reason for me finally pulling the trigger on an XT3. I followed this video, but somehow i am just able to save the settings in User profile, there is no option to save the setti gs in the camera. Seems like i am missing something obvious. Please do help if you get the time. Best wishes from India!!
Amazing video but I have a question: I thought dynamic range in Fujifilm cameras adjusted the exposure slightly yet it appears you can alter the dynamic range in the raw inverter. How can this take place if the original exposure is already set? Thanks again!
The profiles on XT4 seem like they would be fun to play with
have a great weekend 👊🏻
You too!
The quality setting you changed near the beginning is just for the previews, not for the final render. The final render is always the highest quality.
When I was playing with the camera profile customization I was editing some of the customization files directly (they’re just XML) I seem to recall that they had serials or some kind of uuid in them to tie them to specific cameras. I wonder if they editing lock out works on a similar principle, as I imagine the camera serial number is in the raw file somewhere too.
I have tried editing the exif on the raw files, including camera serial number. I basically copied all of the camera data from my X-E4 RAF to an X-E3 RAF, no joy.
Hey Chris, another great Fuji video, thank you. Your videos are without a doubt one of the best recommendation one can make to anyone in the Fuji-X ecosystem. On the topic of X Raw film simulations. What would be your preference if you also had Capture One which does great job also? Does X Raw do a better job in the conversion since it uses the camera's CPU/recipe.
X RAW is the only converter that exactly matches the jpeg output of the camera.
Thanks!
Hi Chris!!1 Thank you for an awesome video! I was wondering if it is possible to create a custom recipe on XRaw studio then save to an XT3? Im not sure if you are implying that this only works on the XT4? Thank you in advance :)
Hi, I use X-T20 and try to connect to X Raw Studio. On the software already shown my camera X-T20 and its firmware version also the battery level, but I can not find any folder on the left box source that shown my SD card from camera. I use X Raw for windows
made all the right connections as you mentioned, the raw studio recognises my camera but no images are displayed in the source image folder, inspite of having tons of raw images on my card, can you or anyone help, what am i doing wrong !!!!!
Thanks
Hi, thanks for this nice introduction. Is it also possible to import JPEG recipes which are already existent on an XT4 into XRaw Studio? Thanks. Heiner
Excellent video. I shoot with an XT3 and X100V. I save all my photos to Apple Photos. Apple Photos lets me edit with Raw Power and Affinity and save non destructively back to Apple Photos. You cannot do this with other external editors, like Capture One. Will Fuji X Raw studio access and read photos from Apple Photos and save the edited image back to Apple Photos? Thanks
❤ very helpful
. My card reader died and a friend told me about this software. I was intimidated at first to change my process but this helped alot! I juwt edit after im Capture 1. Especially knowing theres a power option for the camera when using it. I was worried about it wearing out quicker. Also im going to just shoot raw now. I usually do both and leave it in atandard process. Provia? Anyways thanks a bunch! I subscribed 😊
Hi I got a quest which might seem stupid to you...how do you preview xt4 raw files on mac, even with the latest os (big sur) intalled on it? thanks
thanks for this video (again) you saved me from more gray hair... now I get this in my beliefs really awkward piece of software.
Saving the recipes back to the camera is beyond great though!
One question remains: could I use a "neutral" RAW (no recipe applied) and create a film recipe within the software from scratch?
So the photos on the memory card has nothing to do with this, use the files from the computer, the Raw Files, and the Camera is the processor, awesome, your channel is great! Greetings from Germany
Great video! Question when I have my X100V connected and running the app it makes a weird hissing sound and the status light flashes green. Does anyone know of this is normal?
Can you make a video on HLG ? I know you made a video on FLOG a while back but I would really like to hear your opinion on the topic and how it compares to FLOG and when to use it and what a basic workflow should be while using HLG.
So, is there a technical reason older camera's can't take save profiles direct from XRAW, or is this just a choice Fuji made to not retroactively upgrade that functionality? Could they have made the XT3 work like the XT4 here with a firmware update?
Are there any issues if you want to develop older pictures shot with the same camera but older firmware? Sometimes there's a yellow exclamation mark with a warning message.
Hello. Need your suggestions. Among TTartisans 50mm F1.2, the 7Artisans 55mm f1.4 and Viltrox 56mm f1.4 which one is best for sharpness, chromatic aberration/fringing and Bokeh?? I'm not concerned with autofocus?? If anyone of the first two are better for image quality I can ignore autofocus of the Viltrox. Please share your ideas or make a comparative video about these three. All these three lenses are similarly priced. But if image quality is similar the Viltrox seems to be a better buy as it has autofocus.
Hi Pal2Tech. Is there a reason why this program wouldn't be working with an Xt4? I'm plugged directly into my computer. Changed my settings like you said. Still not seeing my raw files. Thanks. Great videos.
How do I prevent the FP-files from being saved in the folder where raw- and jpg-files are located?
Thanks for the video.
Greetings from Sweden
Thanks, after I connected my XE-4 my pictures doesn't show up, could you help me? I set everything what you said. My camera is there but no pics. I use only 1 USB C cable to my mac
Very interesting that they use the camera to do the conversion. I wonder how hard it would be for them to do it on the computer? Seems like it would be very useful to be able to do that.
It's a Japanese company and Japan is not known for its software programming abilities.
I have had some success changing the exif data of raw files. I can use X-E4 and X-S10 raw files with my X-T30 II in X Raw Studio without issue. But can’t use X-T4 or X100V. I run into the same issues as you did when trying to hack.
6:05 those options are only available on X-T4 right? I don't see those with my connected X-T2. Thank you :)
Hello Chris!... I'm a recent Fuji user (mostly thank to you!), and I've been wondering... I've just downloaded Capture One Express for Fuji, and it seems a pretty good software for editing and file converter... Do you think I need X Raw Studio, too?
Any rational or hint why I can not see the new menu Camera Profile (Custom) with my XT-3 connected to X RAW Studio? Is this an an XT-4 feature which isn't available for oder Fujis?
Hi. What other cameras can you save camera profiles from xraw studio to?
You mention the xt4 can do it. That has an xtrans 4 and quad processor like the xt30 and x100v.
Can you save custom camera profiles from x raw on those cameras as well?
Finally got around to trying some Recipes, and using X-RAW Studio, and re-watched this video. One question though - I see in your video that two of the options are grayed out - Dynamic Range and D-Range Priority. Everything else can be edited, but not those two. I have the same problem. Any idea why? Is there a workaround? The recipe I'm trying to add specifically calls for changing these. Thanks.
What if I change or upgrade the camera, How can I restore all user profile that I saced previously on my old camera.
I think Fuji X Raw Studio may produce higher quality jpegs than LR. I imported the same RAF file to each and then applied the same film simulation. The jpegs exported from Raw Studio looked a bit sharper than those from LR. The was a quick and dirty test and I wonder if anyone else agrees.
It makes sense that an app which uses the Fuji camera itself as a conversion engine will have the best output. I'm thinking of changing my workflow to start with a Fuji X Raw Studio conversion to jpg (if needed) and reserve LR or On1 Photo Raw (my regular photo editing and cataloguing app) for more aggressive jpg editing.
Cool stuff! Enjoy your week away from YT!
Is there a way to apply the settings of a custom recipe to a raw file in Capture One?
Can you share what lens you used for the series of the brunette sitting at the table outdoors at 4:46 into the video? Thanks!
Great info! I had no idea you could write a recipe onto the camera. Actually gives me a reason to use it 😎. I’m curious if you could find where Fuji keeps the file containing the recipe information for the camera to read. If that recipe file could be copied and saved on computer, it would be amazing. Also, recipes could be shared easily with others instead of entering each parameter individually...just load a file to X Studio presto! Love the channel ❤️
From my PC for the X-E4
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\com.fujifilm.denji\X_RAW_STUDIO\X-E4 and you'll find a folder in there.
They are just a bunch of XML files.
@@fredbloggs545 cool. Thank you. I’ll give it a go (on mac) now if only files could transfer via phone...Or, of course Fuji could give more custom settings on the camera....naw
Wouldn't it be great if the program allowed you to do tethered shooting live, as the free Canon EOS utility does? That would be a real bonus.
Installed the latest version of X RAW STUDIO.
Started the cameras and the program showed the camera model, but no folder or raw images.
When I look in the explorer, I see two folders, one called film and one called still, but there are no pictures either, although they are shown in the camera. What can I do about this?
Hello! The question is a little off topic, but have you experience with Sirui lenses on Fujifilm?
Hello @pal2tech, I hope you can help me !? I have set my fuji film X-T4 on "USB Raw Con..." then I have changed the battery, connected my Fuji to my computer it will recognize the X-T4 but can´t show the pictures, neither in my files neither on Fujifilm X RAW Studio. What can I do ? Thank you for your help and your really good videos ;D
MAN YOU MUST BE CEO OF FUJIFILM!you open me a new world!
Hahah, I wish!!!
fuji sx10 how to connect gimal DJI ronin s recording button mode.
A couple of gotchas for saving the new profile back to the camera: 1) it will change the IMAGE QUALITY to FINE, which may not be what you want, e.g., I usually shoot FINE+RAW; 2) it changes your non-custom setting (P, A, S, M) to the new custom setting. I find #2 extremely annoying because I usually leave my non-custom setting as vanilla/standard and this makes me have to change everything back!
