The portrait of that lady is certainly one of your bests in my opinion, very nice spontaneous portrait.
I always learn something AND I'm entertained. Thank you Omar.
I'm using version 2 of DXO Prime and was blown away by the result. I haven't upgraded to version 3 yet. But I recommend it highly. Also, nice image.
Yep. DxO Pure Raw 3 is a must have for LrC users! Has greatly improved my Fuji files. Amazing software.
I sold all my camera gear a few months ago. But seeing Omar's enthusiasm makes me want to get a camera back, especially a Fujifilm again.
I'm in the midst of selling my xe3 and xt2 but I want to eventually get another xt model or x pro.
you have to keep at least one
Can anyone guide me my camera XT20 is restarting again and again while I take pictures I dont know what's the matter. I live in Pakistan and bought this camera from Dubai mall. Is it software issue or what? Plz if one know anything please let me know
@@epicscnzz3340 Have you tried to install the latest firmware assuming it does not already have it ?
Same here l just sold my XT5
I picked up DXO Photolab 5 a couple years ago when they ran a half-price Black Friday deal, and was blown away by the RAW file processing. I was so impressed that I immediately upgraded to Photolab 6 last year, which includes Deep Prime XD too. It truly brings out the beauty of Fuji files where Lightroom has always fallen short. Even Canon RAW files look better than Lightroom’s processing, but I’ve still kept Lightroom because I prefer the file management tools it has, but majority of my editing now happens in Photolab 6.
Picked up Photolab 6 a week or so so ago - I think in gonna cancel Capture One sub now - but man I wish I could convert/export all the adjustments
100% agree. I bought DxO Pureraw 3 a couple of weeks ago, and WOW. No noise, no worms and pin sharp!
Really enjoy your humor Omar, you show how much you love photography and showing us new techniques!!! I'm a new subscriber ! Thank you!!!!
100% agree.DXO is amazing for Fujifilm xtrans. I am very happy to stay with fuji now has made a real difference to my images especially working with Lightroom.
Hi Omar, I concur, not only was I impressed with how Dxo3 handles my XT3 and XT5 images, I was amazed at what I could do with an old Canon 20D image. A high contrast 20D shot was not only cleaner, but I could raise shadows in Lightroom where previously it would have turned to mush. Good results on 7D and 6D too.
I’m two weeks into a trial download, I will definitely be buying it.
Let me tell ya somethin', good sir. You are sharing your own unique version of goof with your audience so wonderfully and in such a rare way, that in all my years of UA-cam deep dives (be it tutorials, reviews, etc.) I can't say I've encountered another creator quite like you.
The ability you have to create video after video of your authentic self is the reason art MUST exist, and that being said you are creating ART with each and every upload. Even just talking about super clean Fuji files and how you got the results, what is really standing out for me as a viewer is this really cool experience of hanging out in your little camera room and shooting the sh*t.
For that, I thank you.
Oh and thanks for all the cool tips.
the difference is incredible!
Love that photo!
It definitely brings new life, especially to older cameras and smaller sensors. I found a new life to my Lumix zs100 with Pureraw and enjoying it a lot.
She's got a great smile and you have a great shot regardless of the contrast!
Omar, this video is just what I needed to convince me to get DXO for my Fujifilm files. I first heard of DXO yesterday and "POOF" you show up on my YT feed today. Thank you for taking time time to shoot the video.
Great stuff, exactly the kind of information I was looking for. Cheers!
True! Pure Raw 3 it is also amazing.
DXO has been getting plenty of praise. I had a chance to buy the Topaz bundle during last year's Black Friday sale. I have generally been very pleased with Topaz. But maybe I need to also explore DXO's capabilities. And you are correct, that hair is FABULOUS! thank you for the effort and sharing. i am an appreciative subscriber. thumbs up.
Wow! Had to try it myself , and it looks amazing! Thank you so much :))
Wow, that's an impressive demo Omar! I'm usually blown away with just how good Fuji jpgs are straight from the camera! Not so good with contrasty subjects, but then I always shoot compressed RAW too. Lightroom perhaps isn't the best editing tool for Fuji RAW files, but I'm happy with it for now as can't afford Capture One. Will have to look at DXO and Pure RAW 3! Cheers👍
I love LightRoom as I do scientific, technical and fine art reproduction work with many stitched images often totaling 'multi-gigapixel' images. LR allows me to sort and archive all the Fuji Raw file image segments into jobs and apply my custom optimized lens, lighting, vignetting and colour correction profiles with a single click - brilliant!
Looking fresh
I did a DxO PureRAW 2 vs LRC video and that made me a believer. LR mangles sharpening and colors. Then I did a C1 vs PureRaw 3 video a couple weeks ago, and that was an eye opener as well. I too am invested in Adobe's ecosystem so I love the PR works as a plugin. Welcome to the PureRAW world!
Totally agree. I’m a recent convert to DxO Pure Raw. Never going back.
I've only recently discovered DXO Pureraw and I can't believe how much it transforms my X-Pro2 files. Significant bang for buck on that one!
Capture one user here - mind blown. Thx for the heads-up!
I tried the trial version and am impressed with the noise and sharpness. It did very well on the noise and you don't see the worms.
You're a wizard, Harry!
Wow, that was impressive! BTW, thought about you today. I was at the Javits Center for the NYC Auto Show. As always, I parked at Port Imperial and took the ferry across the river. Thanks for sharing this software. Have a great week!
I just discovered DxO PureRAW 3 a couple of days ago. Yes, it is awesome!!!
Yep, been using DxOPureRAW2 for over a year. When I started using it I almost felt as though DxO had given me a new camera, the results were so amazing. I also went back and processed files that I had shot for my main client and insisted on giving them new ones, which were so much better. I am not a shill for the company, like you I just want to spread the news so all Fuji users are aware of what a boost this software gives to any image. It will also release you from the fear of using hi-iso. If I am shooting wildlife I let the iso float all the way up to iso12800 because I know that as long as the image is sharp, DxO will do an incredible job of removing noise and increasing sharpness.
just downloaded for the trial version, will probably purchase
I use DXO with DeepPrime and DeepPrime XD (which was just recently released for X-Trans sensors). I pretty much don't worry about high ISO anymore. Pretty remarkable how far we've come since I was messing around with a D30.
I realise that dispite tuning in to you for a while now, I've never commented on any of your video's Omar. I'm not sure why that is, and it is most unlike my engagement with other photography channels. I can only assume that deep down inside I realise that it would be churlish of me to comment on perfection 😉. Anyway, enough of that, I genuinely look forward to your content week by week, its entertaining, enthusiastic, full of variety that has inspired me to take on a few different challenges in my photography. Ta much.
wow what a huge difference amazing
:)
impressive demo!
i use that long ago, its amazing!
I have to admit this is impressive
that was super helpful!
thanks, I bought Capture One after this video
This is exactly where Ive landed to instead of changing to C1. Much cheaper as well. Its awesome, and not just for Fuji RAFs, Im also resurrecting old Sony files and amazed by what its doing. Mostly I just opt for Deep Prime in Pure Raw3, sometimes the XD comes out a little too sharp for my taste.
amazing stuff - as a UK Cotswold based wedding shooter - on a GFX - I have been blown out of the wedding venue by DXO - crop to 200% and still have detail - oh yes - its there - LR gets tricky at those crops -
I discovered DXO PureRaw 3 just a week ago and tried it on some event photos shot in low light with X-T5. Made an amazing difference got very clean images with more detail. Besides LR, also tried C1. Adobe needs to get caught up to this new technology.
This is good to know, saves me from totally selling my Fuji gear away as I have grown frustrated with how Lr can render fuji Raw files. I'll still continue going back to Nikon but now I'll keep my X-Pro 2 and eventually add the DXO plug-in... thanks man.
Lightroom its amazing. Those masking tools are out of this world.
Well, they are a good start, but far away from perfect. Specially the sky, background and subject maskings are not really accurate and create halos due to overlapping. Of course each mask can be cut by color or luminance selections but this still creates problems at clear edges. Color bleeding is also an issue with LR/ACR masking when trying to get high contrast images. Frquency separation in PS or Affinity Photo create a lot cleaner results.
@@winfriedhennes5552 Agreed. Affinity its great. PS the best. Processing photos on the run LR rules. Intersect takes care of halos most of the time.
4:56 it looks like it cleaned up the green tint too. It looks so good, natural, and clean compared to the LR style. 😮
When I shot Fujifilm, I used to use Iridient X-Transformer prior to importing into Lightroom and it would kinda achieve the same thing as well. But you're right, Adobe REALLY REALLY needs to do some R&D on their raw processing. Love Lightroom but other processors seem to decode the raw file better. I mean if you shoot Nikon, Nikon's own raw processor their Capture NX-D makes their raw files look even better than Adobes. But at the end of the day, it's just nerds and pixel peepers like us that seem to care haha. I think some even prefer the way Adobe processes Fujifilm RAF's in Lightroom with the more noisy look because it reminds them of film. I guess it doesn't matter if you get the results you like in the end.
I got it since 6 months DXO Pure raw 2 and now pure raw 3. With this, no matter if you have a Aps -C sensor or full frame ! it cleans the noise perfectly and give puncn to the image ! I love it and it's french ! Like me 🤣🤣
Yep. Hearing a lot of good things about DXO3 with Fujifilm files lately.
I bought DXO PureRAW 3 and I confirm that the processing is amazing on Fuji RAW files, for both noise reduction and details recovery.
I thought this was click bait but that is one beautiful photo. Well done Omar.
I have really enjoyed using DxO PureRAW 3 and yes it does an awesome job with my Fujifilm RAW files. I am a Capture One user and the only issue I have had with it is if you convert the file before taking it into C1 the resulting dng file cannot be used to change to another film simulation. I think it has to do with dng files and C1 importing.
I found I couldn't apply Fuji simulations at all to the dng files in C1, either before OR after import.
Niiice!
Fuji's X Trans pattern being the only one of its kind and Fujifilm being a small part of the camera's market, Adobe ( and others : On1, Luminar ...) never modified their algorithms to correctly render that specific pattern.
Capture One and DXO did, hence the results
Personal experience : I sold back my 16-80 while working with both LR and On1 but when DXO finally worked with with RAF files i gave it a try and, boom, i bought back the 16-80.
Being french, as you might have noticed from my english, may be i'm biased but the optical enhancements ( even with my old Nikon gears ) in DXO is really top class.
I also tried Capture One and prefer Lightroom. I tried DXO Prime 3 and agree, it's a game changer. I noticed that you set the lens softness correction to soft. Do you find that yields the best results for your desired style?
Good day! ❤
I think this is most relevant if you need to make a shadows recovery in high ISO images, or you want to get high and very high ISO images without any noise.
Hi Omar, have you tested that software on your Nikon files as well? And is the result as good?
I've been having a problem with my Fuji files for the longest, now realizing it was lightroom the whole time. But with the newest LR update, it's fixed! Ai noise reduction makes the files look so much cleaner. I heard it's on par with DXO
Oke damn this is indeed a powerfull tool. I wouldnt use it for street photos probably but for landscapes yeah this seems great!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If you shoot Fuji, DXO should've been your software of choice for converting them. No other software comes close! Photolab 6 can't compete in speed with LR or CO but you start with a much cleaner file, which is why I use it exclusively now.
I use DxO PureRaw 3 on every image I want to process, regardless of the ISO. It is the best RAW converter for Fuji files that I have found. I also use it for all my Olympus OMD E-1 M3 files as well. It is the future! I can now shoot my M 4/3's cameras at ISO 12,800 ISO and still get usable images that even pass scrutiny at stock agencies and that is saying something!
DxO while great, sometimes over sharpens the image (halos, artifacts). I wish it had a sharpness slider like PhotoLab 6 because I usually turn it down to -0.5. There is a toggle switch for lens softness in PureRaw but it doesn't really do much.
What settings have you landed on in Photolab 6 for preprocessing your Fujifilm files @mrkazador ? I'm playing around with finding my ideal settings and am skewing towards dialing back the sharpness slider as you say.
this guy definetely deserves a DxO sponsorship, i just switched to fuji and now i want Dxo too 😭
I almost forgot I had DXO Raw 3. I download it a while back, installed and forgot about it because I bought... CAPTURE ONE! I do find Capture One work flow a little clunky for me but I thought it was just because I hadn't gotten comfy with it yet. So, now along with Capture One (that's 3 shots you would have needed to take so far) I have to go back and see how DXO Raw is performing. Thanks Omar
I have been exporting from Lightroom to DXO and have been very happy. I should also try it the other way around.
Nice one Omar. Greetings from England, man. I sometimes use Pro Raw 2 to process my images.. it works great. yet to try v 3
interesting - thanks!
Thanks for sharing this. I have not heard of DXO.
I can vouch that the DXO plugin is a must-have vs something like Topaz. DXO is a legit way to bring the best out of your raw files.
Thanks you!❤ Greetings from Berlin
@OMAR told you! Glad you got to try it out. I thought DXO PureRaw 3 was awesome!
Well this morning I turned Lightroom on, and they have added a new feature Denoise AI... it blew me away, please try it and compare it to DXO. I don't think I will need DXO now hooraaay! Loved the video by the way!
I've found that with DxO PureRaw2 that about 90% of my X-T3 landscape shots are improved, sometimes vastly improved. However, it also introduces serious vignetting issues on some shots. I haven't spent the time to specifically track down the problem. But sometimes it seems like it is over-correcting for lens vignetting resulting is lightened edges. Maybe it's been corrected in 3?
Same experience here. In Pure RAW 3 DxO has done a great job on their demosaicing algorithms for X-Trans files. DxO was hesitant supporting X-Trans for a long time. Imo Pure RAW 3 offers the best X-Trans demosaicing currently available. I´ve used Iridient X-Transformer over a several years period to overcome Adobe limitations demosaicing X-Trans files. Disadvantage of Iridient is lag of powerful denoise and sharpening. These tools are implemented but results are more destructive than useful.
The test results on my ISO 10.000 and 12.800 X-Pro3 files were really impressive, a lot better than Topaz results of all 3 Topaz apps (Denoise AI, Sharpen AI, PhotoAI) standalone or as PS plugins.Topaz issues are tendency to oversharpen, creating artifacts and tiny edge halos.
Omar, this is very helpful I need to get the DXO program, thank you. The young lady has an incredible smile and she is extremely beautiful? 👍👍😊😊
Welcome to the clube Omar, reading 👓
Take a look at dxo pureraw, I thought it was going to be about it when I read the title, it makes a tremendous difference and you can still use LR over c1 as dxo exports dng, it's like the amount of difference between switching sensor sizes
hey Omar, have you tried it through On1 Photo RAW 2023, using their NoNoise AI? (love your channel, every time you post it adds a little highlight to my day!)
I use DXO PureRaw Pre Lightroom. All my Fuji RAW files get converted & saved to an Auto import folder in Lightroom
Capture One user here, drink up Omar!
Wow, the difference is remarkable! But even the regular Fuji RAW files are a no-go for me due to the file size, so it’s hard to justify triple the size. I shoot JPEG and Normal quality 😅
What I do is: keep the original RAF in Lightroom an necessary adjustments. Perform Denoise just for photos where it matters, convert to JPEG and keep just keep the RAF and JPEG file.
Thanks for the great video! DXO… huh, I thought they had a hate/hate relationship with Fujifilm.
Cool…I sold my X-Pro2 because I was never really happy with the image quality…I may need to take another look at those raw files now! Thanks!
Nice 🎉
Amen!
So really the headline should read "These are the best DXO files from Fujifilm I've ever seen". :-)
Very nice image, made much better. Love your images!
I have DXO pureraw 3 and would be curious to see side by side DeepPrimeXD vs DeepPrime comparisons. I never know which to choose for just standard images that aren't too noisy.
Great info on DXO, any thoughts on how it compares to the new Denoise in Lightroom Classic latest update?
As things go, Adobe has just today (April 18) released a new version of LR and a new feature is called AI enhanced noise reduction. I compared it's results to the original Raw and to PureRaw XD and like it better. The Dxo produces waxy skin- tones, whereas LR AI with moderate values leaves a very (!) fine grain that is much more attractive. I will save the money for the DXO software.
Thank you for the input, i was wondering how good the adobe AI tool was compared to DXO.
I am SO GLAD I saw and watched this video from Omar, awesome and funny as heck as usual thank you Omar. I just saw Bernios comment and checked my Lightroom info and is still running at the previous version. Weird I thought it was automatic. Just updated it and now that new Denoise button is there awesome man thanks for bringing that up I am looking forward in testing it.
DXO does not leave waxy skin tones if you turn down the amount of NR being applied by PURE XD, it is configurable just as the Adobe new NR is
Hi Omar, today I learned that there's a new AI-based denoise function in Lightroom. The results are awesome!
Yup, great timing 🙂
When I first discovered DXO Photolab a few years back I knew it could be a game changer for me. And it was. It's the most advanced RAW editor that handles my Fuji files (all the brands I use, all the lenses and sensors for that matter) so brilliantly. Equal to if not better than Capture One, which I also spent some time with. In the end I got rid of Lightroom and never looked back.
So now you use neither LR nor C1, just DXO? And does it always triple file size as Omar mentioned? I use c1 now as a novice amateur and before that Luminar so don’t have LR as a frame of reference.
@@el0blaino I use DXO PhotoLab 6 Elite Edition which already utilizes DeepPRIME and DeepRIME XD - it also acts as my data asset management tool similar to Lightroom. I do not use DXO Pure RAW 3 as a stand-alone or plug-in to process my files. DxO PhotoLab ELITE Edition works really well for me as an overall powerful comprehensive set of tools to process and edit my files. Both DxO Photolab 6 and DxO PureRAW are based on the same engine and you can expect the same results for denoising and optical corrections - so I'm not sure what it is doing exactly to increase the file sizes so massively. I don't experience that. Mind you, when DNG output is used, DxO PureRAW outputs files as linear DNG, an image format with 3 color information by pixel (whereas a RAW file only has one color information by pixel), that's a big algorithm with a lot of info and does not apply lossy compression. Consequently, the output DNG file is bigger than either the original RAW file or the JPG compressed output.
@@petertimmermans8425 Thank you! So you can use DXO to get the clarity boost and reap the advantages in C1 or whatever other editor you like (presuming you want to do any further editing)?
@@AlexZafer Thanks for this. That must be it - I'm not outputting to DNG so I'm not familiar with what happens when transforming RAW files to DNG. Sounds like what I've experienced comparing TIFF to JPG, though. Sounds like the DXO PhotoLab6 Elite Edition would be the alternative if I wanted to switch from C1 rather than just use the DXO to sharpen images first.
As far as DAM goes I am really adrift! I use PhotoMechanic to ingest, cull, and on a good day caption. I import a subset into a single C1 catalog for editing, then export JPGs when I've got edits I like. Originally I thought I could just use Finder and Spotlight search to find things, but even for me as an amateur I fear that will soon become unworkable - or at least using up time unnecessarily when DAM tools are out there. I have PM6+ and C1 which have DAM tools but I'm kind of paralyzed at how I want to use them. I don't import everything into C1 but I also don't pull everything out after I've made edits, so the C1 catalog isn't tiny and will continue to grow. That makes me think, Well what is the savings from NOT importing everything into C1? Is a PM6+ catalog a smaller footprint? Etc.
Anyway - thank you @AlexZafer and thank you @petertimmermans8425 !
how do you add camera profiles/simulations to the profile drop down? if I go to profile and browse they're there but not from the drop down
Omar, can't find a comparison between DXO Pure Raw and Topaz AI. So far, not liking what DXO does as there is a significant color shift with it and I seem to be seeing smearing. With Topaz there is none of this and I don't have to deal with huge files and a workflow change. Wondering if you've compared the two on Fuji files?
I made the same observation and that's why I switched to Topaz Photo AI.
I have been using DXO PhotoLab Elite for several years. PhotoLab Elite 6.x is what PureRaw 3.0 is based on - however - the full version has more/better settings regarding noise and detail than PureRaw.
Hi!
Does the new version preserve the edits or did you repeat them again after using PR3?
Thanks for the interesting content. Quite moving. Ill consider Orange, over blue next buying cycle. -S.
it would be interesting to see the new denoise function in LR compared with this software. please.
