At the end of the day Supergramps is just an absolute legend of a car at this point, and I think especially for those of us that have watched that car evolve over the years into what it became it is extremely tough to beat. As it is I'm slowly building/restoring my own 06 tbSTi and trying to think of how I can capture just a little of that same magic without going the route of just copying what you've done (And I've got my own ideas around that which I'll keep to myselfI ), but the other build that is sitting in the back of my mind for doing as a modern daily driver (Leaving my tbSTi for the weekends) is taking an Gen5 Outback 3.6R, and seeing if I can drop it and do a similar conversion of WRX STi parts onto it as you've done with the Levorg, but leaving the EZ36 in it, small turbo, and more modest tuning work then you did with Supergramps - less power, but running reliably on 98 as a daily. Just making it a big comfortable GT cruiser with power that I can hit from anywhere on the Rev range. There's just something about the visuals of a lowered Gen5 Outback I prefer over the Levorg. Hard to put in words but I guess it's kind of a softer more 'matured' look, and even a bit 'beefier'.
Sounds to me like it's time to upgrade cooling, interior, exterior, at least on SG. I'm team SG merely for the custom aspect. And 400hp. Grovel was largely bolt together and is indistinguishable from a stock version, assuming one existed. That being said, I wouldn't throw either out of bed. Time to start turning wrenches on SG again boys!
Supergramps just needs a shallow little touchscreen something above the Haltech to be a modern media center for audio. Like, maybe a tablet? I mean, who ever puts something like a spare tablet in their dash for stuff like that? (Yes, that's sarcasm, as I know about the video of them putting an iPad in Marty's mom's wagon dash.)
I feel like the Levorg is only special because of circumstance. Like you said, it's a parts bin affair with bolt ons that everybody can do. Supergramps on the other hand has personality and thought put in it, like an extension of the owner. I'm not sure you could quite replicate it to the same extent.
@@iamstd2 Also Supergramps is from the era of better Subarus as a whole, as they started going downhill after that era. Although they said the Levorg looks more modern, the old Legacy still appeals to me a lot more. If it wasn't for the STi exterior bits, the Levorg looked like a generic wagon, kinda Hyundai-ish. Don't get me wrong, I like the Levorg. And it's good to have a modern reliable(I guess) car around when you're dealing with old nuggets
Totally agree! I’ve watched MCM for many years always loved their projects but this current series just takes the cake for me. The quality of these episodes are just 11/10 ❕❕
Oh no! That cliff hanger! You’ve got me spinning. Of all the ez30-36 swaps that are in process and your history of amazing projects = high expectations! Do not let us down (as if you could). Great work guys, I really hope something amazing is in the works. Full custom like Super Gramps but better…
there was a 1000hp 3.6 2018+ STI in New zealand a while back, it was copper orange and twin turbo, guy wanted about 60k for it, full custom everything. Id love to see something like that on MCM. the 3.6 is my favourite subie engine, its just so nice.
If it puts a smile on your face and makes you giggle every time you drive and you keep on looking at it every time you lock it and walk away, you know you got the right car. That’s what Super Gramps does. Wins everytime 😃
One of the best MCM episodes yet!! Couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear! you can clearly see Marty's and Moogs expression is different when driving supergramps compared to the levorg. Can't wait to see the next episode!!
I still remember feeling so sad when the first body of super gramps got wrecked from being out in the rain. After all the work that was done on it with Al
SUPERGRAMPS!! I remember waiting and watching those updates all those years ago. Now you guys randomly pop up with this series and I've just spent the last few hours binging it all!
Moog said it perfectly, there's some ethereal with supergramps, something you can't quite put your finger on. It's an individual feeling, beauty is in the eye of the beholder type of thing. Supergramps has history and so many memories wrapped up in it that it's hard not to love it more.
I knew it too…as soon as moog started talking about the h6 into a levorg I knew sometime in the future(apparently very near future) it’s gonna happen. They know and keep talking about the Lego-ability of Subaru, and now it comes full circle. Just need to build the bottom end, get a huge radiator with big fan and figure out a larger oil pan and/or a big oil cooler and keep it all cooler to keep away the super cramp of super gramps. Chefs kiss…will definitely be tuned for what’s to come.
Oh god I hope thats what it is. Im no fancy car guy, but I LOVE the H6 in my 04 outback, f it was Manual it would be on another level. But living in the NE US being able to do snow donuts in a 1500$ car is too good. Even though its a busted rusty hunk, I've kept it around cause I like the engine too much. I can only imagine how good one would sound with a fancy exhaust on.
I honestly think this is the best series you boys have done I’ve loved every minute and it’s like waiting for the next episode of a good Netflix show to come out can’t wait to see what’s next keep up the awesome work!
SGramps not the fastest, not the more refined but i'm pretty sure that it is the greatest car you guys had ever put together, even if u can put the soul of SGramps in the new car, SGramps still has a card up his sleve: the thousands of hearts that in all these years it has won over the competition. it is the most iconic car ever came out off your show. SGramps is in another league. Peace!
Supergramps! The original and best! Have always had such a soft spot for this car, that power looks super fun and the sound is soooo good! Love everything you guys do, the builds and the banter never fail to put a massive smile on my face. Cannot wait to see what happens next, feel like this is going to be epic!
As an everyday car i think the Levorg STI takes it, but also as someone who owns an STI swapped 05 Outback XT, I really have a soft spot and love for Supergramps.
For sure, the 350z was watching the pulls, and looks like they were recording?! I wonder if it was their mates, or fans, or just randoms. Also wonder if that footage is on youtube somewhere?!
Love how all the numbers pointed to the Levorg, until they jumped into Super Gramps. Really hoping that's the ez30, as I think it'll be a better base than the ez36.
Seeing the dent in the driver's door on supergramps at the beginning brought a tear to my eye. That feeling of walking to your pride and joy to see that little dent can be heartbreaking.
One of the interesting things this video's done for me is show how much changed just within the period of Super Gramps's generation. I have an 08 Outback turbo, which is the same generation body as Super Gramps, but mine does have steering wheel controls, the climate control is a dual zone auto, and it does tell you when it's your birthday.
I’m absolutely loving the Levorg content! And I’m super excited to see what they’re about to pull out of that box, but I would absolutely love to see Supergramps get some updates and love. When Marty said it was finally finished a couple years ago, I always thought it was odd he never put a head unit in
@@b.w.9392 i believe a built EZ36 was part of the original plan but parts were rare to none existent at the time of the build, so the power/boost was kjept at sensible levels, even though Supergramps did manage to munch his way through some transmission parts (driveshafts from memory, rather than propshafts, but its been a while since i saw those videos) even as it stands. if they make parts to upgrade the EZ36 now, theres the potential for a real monster in supergramps, but take things too far and it makes them dreadful as a daily which, at the time of the build, Supergramps was intended to be. the Legacy might be a much older car than the Levorg, and therefore have much less tech, but its by FAR better looking, and in all honesty a far better project to watch.
Can't believe that you didn't mention the blackout wrap around windows on the Legacy! From drivers door A pillar, right round the tailgate, and to the passenger door A pillar, looks like a continuous line. On the 2nd-4th gen (and maybe 1st?) but lost it on the 5th gen and Levorg. I just think it's a design signature that sets them apart from other fast 90s/00s wagons from Audi/Volvo etc.
Super gramps has a special place in my heart, I've been watching you guys from the start and always remember the build. So glad you guys made the poster too, I had to jump on it.
If i had a chance to pick one to keep, Id want super gramps! It has a level of stealth that I REALLY like and it pulls hard like the levorg, I think they should try to update some of the stuff on super gramps to to make it even lighter but all in all prefer super gramps all day!
the "vague steering" may be as simple as a power rack swap, for sure dumping some "dumb weight" would help it scoot even better. bigger radiator and more oil cooling? it'd be better for when towing something too.
For a moment I was terrified at the end. I thought you were going to rob supergramps of the engine. I'm so happy that crate rolled out. I'm a diehard fan of the late 90s early 2000s subarus so supergramps will forever be my hero
Omg guys...this has to be one of the best series yet! So much fun...you are two amazing goofballs living the dream! Love it. Can't wait to see what is inside that giant Marsalis Wallace box.
I spotted that motor in Marty's garage a year or two ago. I knew it was going to be for something special. Really excited to see where this progresses. Love you guys
Its been a rough few years for me, well most ppl. But i can always count on you two to make me smile, you guys have literally never failed to bring smile. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, never change you two wak a doddles! HUGE LOVE FROM CANADA.
The Levorg is a damn cool car, Subaru seriously should have done it from the factory. But nothing compares to supergramps, that car is beyond cool. The journey you guys have gone on with that car, seeing Marty develop with it and how much was learnt and done, so awesome. The biblical power it makes also, you can tell by the look on Moog's face, it's brutal. What did it for me is when it snapped it's driveshafts at the drags against the V8 supercar, that right there shows the sheer brutality of what lies under that bonnet. Pure awesome!
Supergramps is such a special car. The sounds, the looks, the memories. It is such an aspiring sleeper that many of us have dreamed of making. The Grovel is amazing performance wise but the character of Supergramps will never be beaten the Subaru world.
I honestly still love super gramps, maybe it's the nostalgia of wanting one as a teenager but it would definitely get just as much attention from me if I saw it out on the road.
I feel ya. I bought an 08 Outback XT with high mileage for cheap simply because I want to do it up and for it to be my special thing. It might turn into a super gramma but that'l be okay. I'll admire it and it will remind me of the OG super gramps. =)
I once took a Liberty GT wagon for a test drive at a dealership as a 19 year old and I definitely couldn't actually afford it at the time but I have thought about that car ever since.
Future episodes look epic, SG was always the car I dreamed of and I think it’s raw nature is the reason it wins most MCM fans. Don’t get me wrong I am intrigued what’s coming next but I think SG is here to Stay like the mini
Hey Marty, you can get replacement centre vent kits with an android head unit for the gen4. Comes with all adaptors and harnesses to suit. Also, find an Outback premium steering wheel....they have steering wheel controls that will work with the head unit.

One of the best interior bits of that gen Legacy was the dials. I loved them, the Momo steering wheel was also perfect too, mine even had volume controls on it! Was only an N/A EZ30 though.
This is the greates series ever. I've been really enjoying this. Keep it up, I love how you're both excited for the project and not just bickering about the other one's car.
when you have that visceral performance that just puts a smile on your face you honestly never touch the stereo so it doesn't matter that you lose points there, my r33 has a stereo but it never sees above 0 volume and the windows are always down. My daily on the other hand is quite the opposite.
Wow this is so amazing watching you guys evolve after all of these years of UA-cam and mighty mods on different cars. It just fills me with excitement knowing there is a new episode out! Thank you for making your videos and letting me and everyone else enjoy them! Love you guys -OG watcher
Man, y’all nailed that “something” about early 2000s cars to me. Maybe it’s just my age, but they are such an intoxicating combination of kind of shit, quirky, imprecise, and bleeding edge, pushing the limits of design and engineering at the time. That’s personality - not something replaced easily by perfection. I’ve always wanted an Audi R8, but somehow I feel like it would be my “Lotus moment” - exceptional, yet almost TOO good, sterile. Electric cars are a great example of that too. It’s the liveliness and optimism of 2000s cars that does it for me.
Had an awful feeling throughout, that you guys were leading up to breaking the news SuperGramps was going to be broken up. Seriously hoping the crate contains all you need instead. Can honestly say I'd choose the Liberty over the Levorg every time and in the UK we don't get either.
What do you mean didn't get either? They definitely sold that gen legacy in the UK, also we did get the Levorg. The Levorg even raced in the BTCC for a year or so in RWD configuration. Both cars just sold pretty much fuck all as most people were buying WRX/STI's in 2003 and like about 3 people bought a levorg because it was kind of a shit car and most people looking at something like that would probably end up in something like an octavia estate or like some crappy crossover thing. Just a quick google search shows that you can buy levorgs with 2021 plates on them so for some reason they've been selling them here since they were released.
Super grams is like literally the reason I watch you guys. There's been lots of other ones like the TRD laser but super! Gramps is the one that brought me over.
That tunnel run in Supergramps has honestly given me hope for my (currently) shagged out H6 Outback. I'm not ever gonna take it to Supergramps levels, but that sound has to happen.
My favorite MCM video in ages. I've been watching regularly (only subbed recently, for some reason) since 2014, and this video embodies the dynamic duo and the content we know and love. Thank yall for the awesome work and keep at it!
Love seeing the comparison as my FXT when done should have similar power to the Levorg, but the old school Subaru feel of Super Gramps. Super excited to see what you're building next! Also, pretty sure Moog's face at 32:00 should be your new thumb nail 😆
I have a 2005 FXT that has been fully STI swapped and has aftermarket goodies. Not that I wouldnt take this Levorg if I could, but I love the boxy styling of the FXT and miss it a lot in modern cars. We need another affordable fun wagon. We only have Audi RS, Merc E AMG and th CTS-V to go from and its just too much money for those.

@@sireuchre They're out there. Seicane makes some iirc
Lovely to see supergramps back on the channel
ngl i was honestly starting to get worried wed never see it again.
This series really has been MCM at its finest. Keep it up lads!
The smiles when driving Supergramps say it all really.
I still remember feeling so sad when the first body of super gramps got wrecked from being out in the rain. After all the work that was done on it with Al
Yeah that freak storm too :(
SUPERGRAMPS!!
Peace!
“hear, hear.” 🏆
Supergramps! The original and best! Have always had such a soft spot for this car, that power looks super fun and the sound is soooo good! Love everything you guys do, the builds and the banter never fail to put a massive smile on my face. Cannot wait to see what happens next, feel like this is going to be epic!
As an everyday car i think the Levorg STI takes it, but also as someone who owns an STI swapped 05 Outback XT, I really have a soft spot and love for Supergramps.
Love when the 350z drove past and they both had to have a peak when in supergramps 😂
For sure, the 350z was watching the pulls, and looks like they were recording?! I wonder if it was their mates, or fans, or just randoms. Also wonder if that footage is on youtube somewhere?!
@@mbqtown i want to say mates, you can see the same 350Z in the levorg tunnel run too. but would also like to see that footage lmao!
That ending hand me laughing. As a Levorg GT-S owner that wishes for all the things Marty has done, I'm very very excited for the future of this build
Love how all the numbers pointed to the Levorg, until they jumped into Super Gramps. Really hoping that's the ez30, as I think it'll be a better base than the ez36.
It is 😉
Depends how built they're going. Either one would be great though.
Seeing the dent in the driver's door on supergramps at the beginning brought a tear to my eye. That feeling of walking to your pride and joy to see that little dent can be heartbreaking.
Thankfully, PDR is a thing.
When Marty said it was finally finished a couple years ago, I always thought it was odd he never put a head unit in
Either a build ej25 block, or a build ez36
Hands down the best 4 wheel drive channel on YT
Both cars are 4 wheel drive
Yes
This is the best off-road channel on the interballs.
The ending of this video deserves an Oscar.
Totally😂 it's the combo of legit review and comparison and just real life comedy and silliness that gets me.
🔝🔝Hey thanks for watching and leaving a message I really appreciate it I have something special for you🎁📦🎁
Super gramps has a special place in my heart, I've been watching you guys from the start and always remember the build.
@@modelnutty6503 it could be even easier as putting a restrictor in the high pressure line to reduce the pressure, thus reducing the assist.
I think all of the OG s would appreciate Turbo Yoda popping out of that crate holding a turbo with the original theme in the background.
That would be a winner for sure
“hear, hear.”
For a moment I was terrified at the end. I thought you were going to rob supergramps of the engine. I'm so happy that crate rolled out. I'm a diehard fan of the late 90s early 2000s subarus so supergramps will forever be my hero
🔝🔝Hey thanks for watching and leaving a message I really appreciate it I have something special for you🎁📦🎁
Omg guys...this has to be one of the best series yet!
What motor? I'm really really really really hoping they're going to do something silly like 6 cylinder swap the Levorg
@@jarredlevesque3659 EZ30
@@jarredlevesque3659 You'll see it in the back in Marty's shed & toolbox tour episode.
It was also in the back of the other workshop for a while too
@@stevensiwinski Is it a close deck one? 🤤
100% getting more attention, especially with the colour 🥵
I Have been watching since 2013 and the original gramps build blew me away at the time, and have never stopped watching since then. You guys are the ones who inspired me to get into Japanese cars and now they're by far my favorite. Can't wait to see where the Grovel build goes next!
Super gramps got me hooked into mcm. There is still no replacement for displacement. Turbo Yoda should be very very proud.
Hey guys,
Been watching you guys for years. Started off in my parents house with out a license, without a car.
Now married, with a child of my own and watching this episode just had me feeling unbelievably thankful of you guys. Iv had a career in the military and ended up giving that up to work I. That car Industry and I have never looked back. I have to give credit to my joy and happiness and love for cars to you!
Just a big ole thank you guys!!!
Loved this episode!!!
Please may we have a video compilation of tunnel runs 🙏….240Z, Vtec mini, the classic honk of the Nissan march among so many awesome cars in your fleet; that would be heaven.
I’m a full on car nerd, the noise a car makes being top of my list of important factors.
I currently own a VR5 I bought entirely for the noise, it’s not even fast 🤦♂️
the ending teaser was a 10/10! Cant wait for the next videos!
“hear, hear.”
Supergramps ❤️ you guys nailed it, get away from the analytics and remember how a car makes you feel.
Man, I love the way you guys shoot vids and create your content! Can't wait to see what's in store after that reveal! And thank you for making me laugh, I was bent over my keyboard from that last bit of the vid. Please never stop making your silly and entertaining vids!!!
Absolutely brilliant!! I was in stitches at the end. Can't wait for the next chapter in your Subaru wagon journey! Much love guys
Oh hell ya, the hype is real with this one! Haven't been that excited for an MCM build since the 240z!
Marty trying not to lose it at the end got me good
lol😆
Like they were tripping balls lmao
The amount of times I’ve replayed the SuperGramps tunnel run 😍
Oh, you guys hahahahaha please never change
The joy you manage to bring with these little skits and your stories and your friendship...
when you have that visceral performance that just puts a smile on your face you honestly never touch the stereo so it doesn't matter that you lose points there, my r33 has a stereo but it never sees above 0 volume and the windows are always down.
I love how Marty loves super gramps even though it breaks all the time.
I always forget how fast supergramps is. I can't wait for the next series
I guess you missed the last 2-3 minutes? This series isn't over 💪
The best part of Supergramps is watching how fast the cars in the rear window get smaller.
You could see supergramps was the winner by the smiles in the driving video.
Would love to see a sterio install in it, and maybe a cooling mod or two.
My favorite MCM video in ages. I've been watching regularly (only subbed recently, for some reason) since 2014, and this video embodies the dynamic duo and the content we know and love. Thank yall for the awesome work and keep at it!
Supergramps made me buy my Subaru Legacy -07👌🏻 But it’s only 2.0R, 165hp and automatic🙈
that ending though... you guys are awesome lmao
^^^I got that message reply too. I think it's scamers, why would MCM use random newly created profile to reply..
Same thing. A agree..
Love seeing the comparison as my FXT when done should have similar power to the Levorg, but the old school Subaru feel of Super Gramps. Super excited to see what you're building next! Also, pretty sure Moog's face at 32:00 should be your new thumb nail 😆
What year is your FXT? I'm doing a 2004 with an iag stage 4 long block and flex fuel
@@buckykattguitar Do you have your build posted anywhere? I would love to see it. I have an 05 thats about as far as it can go on the stock block.
@@buckykattguitar Mine is a 2008 XT Sports in WRB. IAG stage 4 is nuts, but it'll be a beast for sure. I'm only shooting for 280ish whp on stock block with STI bolt ons.
@@SimpleEnigma331 I totally agree, I love wagons, especially 2nd Gen Foresters or Volvo 850s. As far as new cars, hardly any wagons and only fun ones cost an arm and a leg.
I remember Marty being scared when it was on the Dyno he didn't wanna blow it up it needs a refresh and new pistons rods and go for 400kw at wheels!
Yep 100%. Said at the time they bought the first EZ36, no one made rods or pistons for it. I'd bet you any money that he now has aftermarket rods and pistons as well as a spare EZ36 in that crate they opened.
Still the best car mods 'show' on UA-cam keep up the great content and looking forward to TandT 3 and next years projects.
Best wishes from the UK
SuperGramps is just in its own category. you cant compare it to anything else. its a legend in the community, like people will be talking about it for years after its dead an gone. it will be Imitated but never replicated.
I still hold that SuperGramps is the better looking car. It still has a human touch. The Borg looks ... dunno, too computer.
Supergramps ftw. Aged very very well.

Damn the Levorg looks good.
I was so damn happy when I saw Supergramps running for the first time!
The amount of love and dedication that wagon has will overshadow the Levorg forever no matter how good it is!
