Marty is such a genuinely nice bloke, the selflessness he shows to enable his mates to have the best time possible is proof enough of that. Thanks for all the years of entertainment, Supergramps
Just a awesome group of guys. Was almost teary eyed when they took the turbo off. A bit weird, but Supergramps always felt like a member of the family. MCM has always felt like family.
This channel is one of the reasons car people exist... So happy it is staying close.. I have followed super grumps from day 1. You have honestly my morning a whole lot brighter ❤
Super gramps was part of my younger years. Growing up my "attainable" dream car was the STI. Watching supergramps become what it was inspired me to work hard and go for my goals and dreams. Years later, I now have owned my 2017 STI limited for 2 years last week. Thank you guys for always inspiring others. Love from Washington State
This car and it's build series heavily influenced me and it feels bittersweet to see this. I was always into Subarus before but watching the original Gramps build basically as a kid, my interest shifted toward the Legacy/Liberty. Seeing the shift to a BP wagon with Supergramps showed me my dream car. It was so beautiful to me, perfect looks while still being super practical. A dream car, to me really became one I could do anything with. Fast forward some years to my first and second car, fresh license in hand I still held onto my dream, knowing how great Supergramps became. In May of 2021 I achieved it... I bought my very own BP Legacy with barely enough money in hand. Bought if sight unseen and far away but the seller was a specialist and made sure everything was in order and I knew fully what I was getting. They even did another full checkover, replacing some more parts completely for free. The car was PERFECT... I was so happy, doing the obligatory looking back at the car all the time "damn I love this thing". Sadly the journey ended only 3 months later with a blown engine... Got the full Subaru experience served right there. I don't know to this day what caused the damage so I can only assume improper bearing wear. I was soo heart broken... Since I was already in a fragile mental state at the time, it completely ruined me and I've been in a loop since. I had absolutely no money or time to fix it and ended up having to buy a cheap replacement, selling the shell for scrap. A lot has changed in my life since then but I am still determined to one day own another one. Now this all sounds really bad, I know. Just know I have ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS. Seeing Supergramps "go" almost makes me tear up and I can't help but feel a little envious of the future new driver ;)
Supergramps was one of the first Mighty Car Mods projects I rewatched, probably around four times by now. Glad it's still in the (extended) family and I can revisit it whenever. Really excited to see what you guys come up with. Long live the king, Supergramps.
This hits home. My grandfather but a c10 brand new in 1984. I grew up in that truck, it was the first thing I ever got to drive. He let me drive around in his field and on short trips to the gravel pit (I was about 10 lol). In about 2011, right before I was getting my license, he sold it. In 2015, after he passed, I found it. The guy knew it was my grandfather's truck and what it meant to me, so he sold it to me for what he paid. I've put about 45,000 km on it since then. All this to say, thank you for being that guy for someone Marty, it will mean more to that kid than you or him even realize it right now. It's a different kind of connection to a car altogether when it's a car you grew up with.
As a big fan of both MCM and The Skid Factory, this makes perfect sense. It’s come full circle and will be going to a good home rather than someone random who may not care for it the same. Also, it looks and sounds great! Happy and safe motoring!🔥
Surprised it’s been so long since the supergramps build. It was awesome and I loved every second of it. So wholesome and impressive to see it come full circle back to Al 😊
Years ago I bought a gen 4 liberty wagon with a flat six and needed a new tailgate for it. I went in to onboost auto wreckers in Milperra and bought one from the car that supergramps' interior came from. I missed Marty and Moog by a day and I scored a turbo bonnet for it for a lot cheaper than what they go for nowadays. Supergramps has always been the car that I measure mine against and I'm glad to see it still in the wider MCM family. The Skid Factory is one of the channels I love and Supergramps is a big part of the reason that channel exists today. Marty is the epitome of the Aussie legend and in selling this car to Al for 5 grand he proves it once again.
This is legit what it’s all about. Sharing the love and getting a new generation hooked on our passion. You can have your super cars and exotics, but nothing beats your first car.
Not going to lie it brought a tear to my eyes this one, but to see it go full circle and to see the eyes of the young fella is what really pulled on my heart strings. Straight the best and most genuine people on the interballs
I started watching you guys when you were just on your driveway, doing simple DIY videos. I just bought a Mk 7.5 golf R, and am in the process of following in your footsteps modifying it. But on the weekend I had a drive through the otways in Vic, windows down, no music. Im not quite sure I've ever felt bliss like that. Thanks for the inspiration and the thousands of hours of entertainment. My first performance car, the first car I've ever been truly connected with. Stoked beyond stoked
It was the introduction of SuperGramps in the early days that helped me see the potential of a wagon my X-wife got her hands on. A 2004 VW Passat GL Wagon with 5-Speed manual 1.8T 20valve engine. 1.8T's known to be bulletproof as long as you don't push them without the proper mods to support it has been a solid vehicle as my project car over the last 3-4 years since I got it from my x-father-n-law. But thanks to SuperGramps and me being on the other side of the pond in the States, I have named my ride "The Granny Sleeper." This year I had taken it to my 2nd Volkswagen show (VolksFest) in Milwaukee, WI, and thanks to other voters I placed 3rd. It's a great experience and I still have loads more plans down the road for it. Good luck, SuperGramps, 2 weeks after I got my license I totaled my vehicle. Hehe, right of passage.
This is what being an enthusiast is all about you get a car with a story and it has so many versions and more stories then seeing it make a full circle back to the original owner and his son almost made me teary eyed seeing the joy just makes it all worth it
I can't wait to see what Al will do with it. Sad to see gramps go but we know it's going to someone whos going to look at it just as well as Marty. Hope you guys enjoyed Paris as well.
SuperGramps makes me feel slightly old. What a car, what a journey. I almost wish it was in the "OG Shell" though. The levorg will be such a great build I'm sure and it will be interesting to see a SuperGramps like project (hypergramps?) In a shell that looks fast
@@Kacpa2 that's what I'm saying, I'm interested to see the evolution of the "gramps" series with the levorg, gonna be the same engine but built and I'm assuming they'll keep to the premise of evolving technology like they did with SuperGramps.
@@curtisss EZ30 is a bit different to EZ36 in supergramps and has much more aftermarket support and potential, can rev higher and sound like RB26 and, so they can go to town with it far more i think. 600ccs dont realy matter when subaru tuned it for fuel economy compared to more performancey setup stock for ez30. Funnily enough its also exact engine thatvshould be in supergramps because thats what 4th gen legacy/liberty had. EZ36 was in 5th gen, outback and tribeca facelift.
I love that it went back to the original owner but i think it should been kept turbocharged. I hope in the future it gets the turbo back when kids gets use to driving.
This has to be, without doubt, the hardest episode to watch. Not because it’s bad. But because it’s like finding out an old friend you haven’t seen for years has passed away. It’s great to see it going back to Alan (great name by the way!) bug it’s not supergramps any more.
This was the car which got me back into subarus and mainly libraries( legacy where I’m from). Although this might sound stupid but not watching the guys and this car I’d probably wouldn’t of done the mad things I’ve done over the years. So thank you mcm and friends and a massive thank you to supergramps for relighting my passion for subarus
The coolest thing I've seen. Humanity has a chance! The story behind this is amazing and, not going to lie, was quite heart felt. You guys are awesome, can't wait to see more mad stuff from you guys.
This episode was a roller coaster of emotions, from Marty revealing that Supergramps is going away, to finding out it is going to ignite the spark for a future petrolhead, to seeing the FD project finally beginning. Thanks MCM for the awesome content
In the beginning I was so sad that gramps was leaving, at the end, I got teary eyed, seeing how stoked Al’s boy was, this will inspire him to keep the cycle going, and I’m sure that someday supergramps will be turbo charged again. Supergramps is not gone, he has gotten a new lease on life and a new heart to live in. 🙏🏻❤️
Really wholesome to see this come full circle. I remember watching the original Supergramps build and seeing the look of devastation on Marty's face when the original donor can was destroyed by the rain. I never knew Al was the one who offered up his own family car so that the project could move forward.
What an incredible episode MCM! Absolutely love the story telling and how Super Gramps is coming full circle! Thanks guys for everything over the years, cheers from Canada!
Talk about throwbacks, I still remember coming in after late nights of work to see the latest build video for supergramps. The crazy hail storm that was a nasty setback, but you all kept pushing through. Glad to see the car continuing its story and in good hands. Legends
This is a major reason why I love this channel! U said b4 u would never get rid of it. But I'm so happy u did it this way! No better way to say goodbye than go full circle. Farewell supergramps. U will be missed!
Mind has exploded. I discovered MCM about the time original Gramps was going together. I don't remember how. I was just at work, watching videos, and then, I landed here. And then seeing how this all went down. What a way to put a smile on that kids face, and even mine. Marty, you're a legend for selling the car back to Al, and keeping it in the family. Can't wait to see how the Levorg goes, and stupid excited that hte RX finally made it ashore. Congrats on that sir. I'm excited for all that's to come.
My bugeye wagon runs and drives after years of plotting and planning, cramming wrench time between work, school, internships and the like. Just started learning to weld and got proper stock hangers on my OBX header, and even with a stock Outback Impreza exhaust the damn EZ30D sounds like a pissed off swarm of bees! Working on a crappy set of cats to get her thru smog, and then she's properly legal and ready for the GT life! Super Gramps was an inspiration! Long live the H6 Levorg!
Marty heart of gold my man pay it forward never felt so good and it's not even our car the smile on tin lids dial was priceless even old Al had that nostalgic grin 😁this is why MCM is so awsome no fake shyt here cheers from broken hill
There is no one else in the world that can pull all the heart strings of any motoring enthusiast like mighty car mods. I totally agree with the plans for supergramps, what a great send off. Cant wait to watch this on the skid factory because there is zero chance Al and his boys are gonna leave it the way it is.
The MCM team and Supergramps was THE reason i decided to get a 4th gen legacy wagon for my second car. While i may not get the opportunity to build this specific one, it quickly became my favorite generation of the legacy/liberty platform as well as my favorite of the subaru platforms, so much so so that i plan to get another one down the road but as a sedan. I hope the Supergramps last for many more years to come and brings many smiles and memories in it’s retirement!
Crazy how long it's been. I remember watching the Super Gramps build as it came out. I actually had bought myself a 2011 Subaru Liberty 3.6R here in the states back when Super gramps started. Auto unfortunately but I learned all the maintenance myself. Did vinyl wrapping of bits, suspension building, sway bars, exhaust, custom grill, aftermarket wheels, tuned on 93 octane. Unfortunately had to part ways with it after 5 years. Drove it nearly 100k miles. I bought a 2019 STi which I had for about a year. Sometimes wish I still kept it but later traded it for a 2018 Audi A4. I needed something more practical for a daily. (I was tired of spending so much on fuel and having to rev the thing out everywhere) and didn't exactly have the money to start putting mods into it. I'm still happy with my choice but I do miss tinkering with car mods. Maybe one day get myself something to play around with again.
Absolutely unbelievable,. When I watched super gramps being built, I dreamed of car of my own that was truly mine and i owned it. 8 years later I own a mk8 golf r and now super gramps has returned to its original family, and now Marty is building another subaru wagon. What a world we live in. Thanks Marty, Moog, Turbo Yoda, and others

It makes me so sad with super gramps going. I've seen the build series multiple times through my teenage and even still at times. Reminds me of the times I was down, needed something to keep my mind off of other bad things going through my head. What an amazing car and crew. One of the best cars on og automotive UA-cam. Never thought Marty would let it go. But as I mature I realise more what the guys are about.
This brings a happy tear to my eye. I LOVED this car and I watched it when I had my Legacy wagon. I wish I still had it today but I know someone else is enjoying it now.
One of the best guys I liked mcm work with was turbo Yoda... that guy is just a legend in putting things together...mad respect to him and am still happy the car is in his hands....
Farewell Supergramps, saw this from the beginning to the end! Feels like a heavy turning point for the channel, one with only positivity. More room for new projects. All good things must come to the end and Alan's son will enjoy that car for years to come. I hope he loves the car as much as we all did.
I genuinely teared up watching the beginning. Supergramps is my all time favorite build, and the inspiration for my gen 3 wagons H6 swap. Seeing little dudes reaction of driving his childhood car makes it worth saying goodbye. Extremely wholesome

I thought Supergramps would be the one car Marty never sold, but after seeing this I know this is why he had to. 👍🏻❤
Supergramps was one of the first Mighty Car Mods projects I rewatched, probably around four times by now. Glad it's still in the (extended) family and I can revisit it whenever. Really excited to see what you guys come up with. Long live the king, Supergramps.
I didnt expect to get this emotional, but it's so awesome to see Supergramps with Al. It really couldn't be in a better hole. Top lad, Marty!
Such a big smile from that young man
As a big fan of both MCM and The Skid Factory, this makes perfect sense. It’s come full circle and will be going to a good home rather than someone random who may not care for it the same. Also, it looks and sounds great! Happy and safe motoring!🔥
I stared watching over 10 years ago, thank you gents, you inspired me in music, cars, and general mayhem. The best
And this... THIS is why MCM continues to be PHENOMENAL
The look on Al's sons face. Priceless.
Amazing im lost for words from England! great story and perfect ending but then you bring out the rest! FFS boyz no words just legends! cant wait.
The effort and quality of this chanel is such a treat for us all thanks boys for being apart of all of our lives ❤️
Literally the best youtube channel. The way you guys tell the stories you do, absolutely brilliant!
Exciting stuff! Cool to see that Super Gramps is staying in the extended family. Looking forward to the RX7 build!
Well levorg is kind of a Hyper/Ubergramps.
@@Kacpa2 was it an ez30 they built? My bad I thought it was a 36. But thanks for the info!
@@Kacpa2 I am pretty sure the ez36 in SuperGramps came out of a Tribeca (that's a hazy memory from early episodes though)
That is legendary! Looking forward to the Levorg getting finished. Al really sorting his sons out, they have the coolest dad.
Epic. Just epic. Wow
I got emotional, the best ending ever.
Not even Steven Spielberg could write a better script.
❤
Never thought I would see Marty saying farewell to supergramps so many memories with this car good bye super gramps you will be missed
supergramps lives on in our hearts forever
As a old cunt.. this was nostalgia. Legends you two.
I remember headlight restoration video with pee
Really wholesome to see this come full circle. I remember watching the original Supergramps build and seeing the look of devastation on Marty's face when the original donor can was destroyed by the rain. I never knew Al was the one who offered up his own family car so that the project could move forward.
What an incredible episode MCM! Absolutely love the story telling and how Super Gramps is coming full circle! Thanks guys for everything over the years, cheers from Canada!
Just made me cry
10/10 on the music.
Do you know the song name? Shazam ain't working 😂
The best offroad 4wd channel is also the best channel at playing with your emotions. Man, what a ride. Farewell Supergramps, you're (still) in good hands.
This made me cry, this car will forever live in my heart and soul, super cramps wasn’t just a car, it was a character on the show I’ve watched my whole life it feels like. I will miss you so much super gramps
I remember watching the build video of super gramps. Bittersweet ending for a build. Thank you MCM for great journey.
So happy for that kid. The reaction and excitement is priceless.
