Anthrax....often overlooked. Scott keeps them relevant. His interviews are just like talking to a friend at a pub.
Great way of putting it!
In the numerous times i've seen them since 1988 on their AMONG THE LIVING Tour they have never been overlooked, do your reading on what other artist say about them, then and now! They're just that good!
Their energy on stage also helps
I would love to have you as my next door neighbour.
I’ve never had neighbors complain 😂
I don’t open the house up and aim the speakers away though
@@LambChopper678 you wound'nt get a complaint from me mate.
Itd be like having Hetfield, Mustaine, King, Ian and Dimebag living next door ❤
I play 100 Watters at home and my neighbors never hear it. I hated the last neighbors so they heard it every night.
Among the living is one of the top thrash metal albums of all time. I myself love spreading the disease. When this album came out in 87 it just blew me mind. NFV catches Anthrax at there very best.
spreading disease is by far my favorite Anthrax album
imo, Persistence of Time is just one of the best albums ever made, not only one of the best metal albums
Absolutely awesome spot on tone!
Amazing, so many souvenirs in this sound
That tone is spot on - great work
Never cared much for anthrax but I love s.o.d! 🤘
Could watch these for hours, as always the tone is bang on!
Among The Living is a Masterpiece! Thanks for covering it! Great channel!
Oh man!!!! This is a tone that I’ve been chasing for decades!!! Awesome!!
This is really good stuff, My fav THRAX album and tune, AMONG THE LIVING! Nice work!
Superb video production and playing....You have the best guitars and amps!
I love anthrax and this is perfect present for me! Thank you Lambchopper! 🤟🏻 from🇰🇷
Hell yeah another Capturing video! Awesome as always! Such a great tone!. Beast playing too. That's great downpicking advise too. I'll give that a go!. Great stuff mate!
Great vid! Badass tone and playing! I think I’ll jam my Marshall today 🤘😎
thnx for giving anthrax some love, went to their concert a while ago and they were amazing, definetly one of my favourite gigs ever!!!!
cant even explain how much I love your videos, your playing, the tone. the fact you only have 115k subs is crazy to me you should easily be at a million man your amazing!
This the best tone I’ve heard you do . If you had to pick one this is it ! So great
Awesome as always! I've already seen a bunch of similar comments, but I've been a long-time fan of the channel, and I now also own a DSL20H, a Marshall cab, MXR 6 & 10 band EQs, and a Boss NS-2. Best tone of my life. Thanks for all of your videos. Don't know if it's up your alley, but some classic Sepultura like Beneath the Remains or Arise would be killer to hear too. :)
Awesome! Very cool dual guitar parts....sounds massive!!! I really like your “meat-and-potatoes” approach to nailing all the tones on your channel. Your ability to capture the essence of all these amazing metal tones with an appropriate amp, guitar/pickups, and a couple pedals just goes to show that one doesn’t need $20,000 of fancy outboard gear, amp modeling, or studio tricks to achieve great tones. Keep ‘em coming!!! 🤘🤘
The guitar tone on “Among The Living” is one of my all time favorites. It’s great to see someone finally address it. Few have ever attempted it.
You do a really great job at playing all these classic riffs.
Thanks man, appreciate that 🙏🏻
Hey LC I know your a long time You Tuber. Good to see you open up with all your talent. Long Time fan here.
So good! You've become a tone master man! You can get any tone you want 🤘🤘🤘
Another banger from lambchopper
I used to watch you quite often, and all of a sudden the UA-cam algorithm recommended this to me after all these years.
Good to see you’re still going dude!
What could be better than 1 Anthony killing our favorite tones????? 2 Anthonys!!!!!!!!!! Way to go man this was a killer Vid.
Nice! Been waiting on this one!!
Nice Video as always 👌
Can't wait for the new exodus stuff on your channel
I hope there will a lot of Videos upcoming about the tone, covers and hopefully some lessons to learn some amazing riffs from gary
love the new Album persona non grada
Beautiful!
Love that Randy Rhoads - I had a custom shop built back in '91, all black with Seymour Duncans and a proper Floyd Rose, cost a fair bit but my god did it tear through with a similar killer sound as yours here.
Nice content, nice gear collection and nice parrot
Nailed it as always bro!
among and strormtroopers of death are the best marshall tones ... scott ian is sooo underrated
Brutha your tone is spot on. Scott Ian just like Mick Mars 2 of the most underrated guitarists they both have written anthems. I had the privilege on seeing them at one of the first Monsters of Rock festivals. Joey Belladonna was the front man before he left and came back. Thanks for sharing and your knowl
Well, now I know what I'll be listening to on the drive onto work today! 😁
Another killer vid!
AHHHHHH, this sounds so good!!!!!!!! I just love a good JCM 800 tone.
Was waiting for this 1.
I like your dualling guitar footage!
Loving the Frankie Hill and Mike v decks in the back man
I dig that Vallely deck. My fav was the bug (which was Vallely's first deck but later changed to the elephant). Love the videos, man. You nailed this tone. Among was the first tape that turned me into a thrash metal head.
Mike never wanted the bug graphic, the art team designed it and they just told him it’s his pro model. He was prepared to walk away if they didn’t change it and he worked on his elephant graphic with VCJ who did other Powell graphics.
I’d be thinking that the bug graphic decks are pretty rare these days. I thought they looked awesome too
Good point on not looking at the pedal as you adjust. It's what you hear not what you see!
I love Anthrax guitar sound.
I now own a Marshall DSL20h, MXR 6 band eq and a MXR 10 band eq running through a Bugera attenuator PS1 into a Marshall 2x12 MC212 which I re-wired to 16 OHM...
Best tone of my life - thank you very much for your channel and your tone advice.
Yea once I got the 10 band eq best purchase ever made. Will not play without it now huge difference.
One of the best tones! Second only to EVH’s sound!!
I used to think that this thrash record has the meatiest & grooviest riffs, God, that guitar tone, you couldn’t have said it any better. I Am the Law, Skeletons in the Closet, the title track, nuff said.
Nailed it!
Great segment! Thank you so much for diving into Anthrax's ATL album. I, too, love this band, and have found myself going back in time to learn some of the great songs they put out. Scott's picking is quite tiring. He is definitely one of the best down stroke pickers out there. Great job with the editing, too. I appreciate all the work you put in to these videos. Btw...did you pick up the new Exodus album?
I’ve been waiting for an Anthrax tone video!!! You should do Number of The Beast next!
Spot on killer tone man!! You should check out Lost Society if you dont know them already. Its a kick ass band consisting of young thrasher keeping the legacy alive. Their tone is just pure thrash especially in the first one. Somehow this Anthrax tone reminded me of them.
Keep chugging mate!
I'd love to see you chase after some more classic tones. AC/DC comes to mind for me. Chunky as hell tone in this video.
Still waiting on the EQFH to arrive but patience is a virtue … Monday is going to be a loud day …love your videos and keep on rocking … should try a Ratt sound and Zakk with what you got … peace mate 😎
I love my white RR5, just perfect playing it is...
Love this series! I was in junior high when this came out. What a magical time to be a young man releasing his angst via thrash and metal! I feel sorry for the kids today. They get songs like W.A.P. Have you done Jeff Waters' tone from Alice in Hell?
I really like the tone you got here, it really is like on the album and a bit better too! (Or is it because you play the stuff even better than they did hahaa!)
Great stuff as always. If there's anything you should add to these videos is some shot with where you place the mic when you use one.
Sure mate, will do
you are awsome!!!!!!!
I love your parrot!
Thx
One of my favorite guitar tones / bass tones on an album ever! Disgusting guitar tone.
I love this tone. I actually got really close with my spawn quick rod and a Fortin 33 at 75% through a Bogner cab loaded with V30s/greenbacks. MXR 10 band can also work. Guitar had a JB in it.
Nice. Im about too shell out the cash for the mxr ten band eq. I have the Isocseles boost pedal its the fortin 33/grind isocseles boost and a good old peavey 6505 plus combo. The boost just gives it that extra power. I think an equalizer will help nail various tones i use. But now i think i might give a parametric eq a try. I just have one question. Would you recomend the eq from hell. Or the eq you did a video on that metallica used on ride the lightning and puppets. Flammeninghausen lol the producers bit of gear. By the way you are a inspiration dude. An aussie shredder thrasher 🤘 i think yourself and Jamie Jensen should do a song together. My two fav aussie guitarists. I do rate Stu Marshall as well. Loved his early Dungeon stuff.
Wicked
Such a riff filled masterpiece this album. I guitar crush Scott Ian so hard.
I would love to see you capture the Sepultura Chaos AD tone!
We need the Killing is my business tone and the Spreading the Disease one!
could you take a look at a dystopia soon? I love your videos, it really seems like no one else can do what you do
That really is a great sounding album, it’s on the list mate 👍🏻
More Thrax!!!!
nice video bro, do you think it is possible to get similar sound with a marshall dsl 15H with an overdrive and an eq pedal?
Sounds better than the album...Scott Ian would want to remaster the old albums with your tone I am sure.
I'm not criticizing .. you came up with what imma call "as close as you can get it sound" .. no lie .. and call me out on this .. they used mesa boogie in those days .. but you did one hellava job getting the sound they had back then .. I'm not trying to down you whatsoever .. I'm praising you that you have done a great great job on the sound .. it's awesome
I thought they used JCM800’s but I really don’t know too much about this production. Anthrax weren’t very big in Australia at the time
Hello sir. I really like your work. I always wanted to be a guitar player. I didn’t have family support to have a guitar and take lessons. I am 28 now and I only gathered a rig together but I don’t know to start again? I started ones before but my personal life effects me so whenever I try to play something I cannot play and it makes me so depressive and I live the guitar after all. What do you advice me to motivate myself and where to start again? Links , documents etc. whould be well enough sir.
That palm mute tone could kill a small child
Hey Lamb, have you done Machine Head's Burn My Eyes tone?
I'd like to get my hands on a line driver like the ones they used but so hard to find
What could I substitute the para-EQ with?
i love watching these only having a small marshall mg10cp and a old used strat with rusty electric stuff and no money like if i afford any of the gear here 😆
Epic, but we need a Motörhead video
💪😎🎸KILLA
Hey Anthony, another killer video. I can not wait for my dime eg to come. Have you heard the Scott Ian story he was at the GG allin gas station gig? I found that fascinating he ran outta there like a bitch don't blame him though craziest gigs I've ever seen.
Lol I haven’t 😂
Could you try to recreate Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind tone?
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🍺
how bout some sown tone? Love that album
This sounds very transistor-sounding, and almost shrill. The album sounds very analog and warm. This sounds like Pantera covering Anthrax. Just my opinion.
Can you get the same tone off of a Marshall code50??
So is it the pickups or the Master ME Effects EQ in the effects loop that gets that Anthrax Trademark tone?
Eq does the job
Chopper, I doubt you'll see this, but if you do, I'm curious as to where you get your B-Stock guitars. Do you contact the manufacturer directly or do you go to some "second-page of google" type of website? In the market for a new Jackson or ESP V and I'm not looking to shatter my bank account in the process. You rock as always man keep up the guitar work.
I always kept an eye out on eBay for Jackson refurbished or esp b-stock.
I got a few good bargains. Never had any particular guitar in mind but got some really good deals. My RR5 is refurbished but I never found the blemish in the finish that they spoke about. Best guitar I ever bought for half price
@@LambChopper678 Nice man. Been searching around on Ebay as of late so hopefully I find something there as well. Also looking for something with a Kahler trem on it. Are you a fan of those or do you prefer a Floyd Rose more? Haven't seen you use one before but I could be wrong haha.
do you make a video about your guitars?
Awesome sound from an awesome band. If this tone doesn’t get you banging your head you should stick to Adel.
Just out of curiosity are you in The Ville?
Sure am
@@LambChopper678 would love to catch up for a chat one weekend if you’re keen.
Do you know Jason Bellie?
N.F.L. Efilnikufesin!
You should do a Testament "The New Order" tone video.
YES! I second that!!!
I third that!!!!
They used Celestion 80s I think, the rare impulses Ive found for those speakers screamed 80s Anthrax
Among The Living has one of the heaviest crunchiest guitar tones ever, yet still crystal clear. Your tone is a little (i.e. a lot) too trebly here - sounds more like a Megadeth or German thrash metal guitar tone.
Yeah I think it lacks the heavy bass end of the original tone
@@angelotrinidad6888 well yeah because there's no bass playing with it
@@BBOZ83 well that’s true lol, lemme hear this tone with bass backing track
Marshall amps don’t do those bassy tones too well, no matter how hard you try to EQ it using pedals. Mids and treb are always going to be screaming on marshalls, that’s their signature sound.
@@theabsolute23
Not true. My late 80's Marshall JCM 800 head was bassy af when I turned the bass to 10, the mid to 2 or 3, and the treble to 4 or 5. Then I dialed even more bass in with my Metal Zone pedal.
Close
Is there any notable tone difference between the DSL20 head and the DSL20 combo?
Not if you run them both into closed back speakers. The 20 combo open back design doesn’t sound as focused as a closed back.
@@LambChopper678 That sucks, I got myself a DSL20 combo because I don't have any cabs and I wouldn't wanna pay more money for one but now I kinda regret doing that.
Nice... just wish they had a high and low knob for the clean...channel it's way to bright
There’s not much to say about the clean channel unfortunately. Still my fav amp though
what did you think of exodus you new album
It’s awesome, as Paul would say “It’s just so fucking heavy”
02:45 wondering if this is even faster than Master Of Puppets (which is 213 bpm on the record, and even faster live)...
Seems very fast regardless, and must be really hard to play !
Where I can get that master effects pedal
