- The first time hearing this album I was absolutely crushed by the tone. Gary Holt is a metal machine and I'm really excited for the new album. I hope it goes back to this era of huge epic progressions that are heavy and complex. Hope you like the video, the Fortin Grind is very cool.
Thanks for tuning in again, feel free to email me with any questions at Lambchopper678@me.com Subscribe to the channel and follow on me Facebook lambchopper6...
Ola Englund: Makes every amp sound the same
LambChopper: Makes one amp sound like anything
@@MetalMilitia80s Good joke
@@MetalMilitia80s He is a great player and gets a great tone but he talks too much in his vids for me,
more playing less talky talky
@@MetalMilitia80s nice bait, try trolling better next time
@@MetalMilitia80s yea he’s very modern post punk baroque period smh
ola's one is harder hahaha
Wake up babe, Lambchopper678 uploaded.
Man. You always make that DSL work. Marshall really ought to be sponsoring your videos.
It really is a diverse amp. Actually thinking of getting one myself
I bought one because of these videos last week. It's amazing how many he has with this amp, all while having many amps of much higher price. Maybe they're too loud for the parrot. I jest. I'm liking my dsl20. Waiting on a Harley Benton 212 from thomann.
Exodus just don't get the credit they deserve!
Great to see someone carrying the torch for them!
I've been a fan since 'Pleasures of the Flesh '.
That's probably one of the best guitar tones for thrash
The overdriven scrape on the palm mutes is so heavy. I like that sound.
@@bobklindworth9440 Indeed! Gary has very good tones
Exodus always got the best Thrash tones
Great to see some modern Exodus getting some love. Yeah, Bonded by Blood is awesome, but Atrocity A, and Shovel Headed... are hands down two of my favourite records of all time
EXACTLY DUDE!!!
"Only Death Decides" from their "Impact is Imminent" album floored me when I 1st heard it. Very underated album in my eyes (& ears) & brutal mid scooped sound. Still a fav album of mine
That song really pointed the way towards where they were going in the future Pretty sure it was their first song in D, and way more brutal than the others at the time.
For those curious, I asked Gary months back about this: The intro to "Bedlam 1-2-3" uses the same technique as in the slower, middle part of "Deathamphetamine," where he strikes the two lowest strings while bending up on the second string, detuning the lowest to accommodate the string tension because of the Floyd Rose.
Funeral Hymn is a straight up ripper, love the cover you did ages ago.
The DSL does it again! Why buy anything else!
🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥🔥
Exodus got that extra juicy sound on the guitars.
I love it.
And you make the DSL20 sound great with whatever you through at it.
Just keep doing what you do.
You inspire others to experiment with the gear they got and create new sounds
Gary's tone is hands down my favorite thrash tone period. Its like if punching holes in drywall was a guitar tone.
gary live tone with exodus is totally awesome , saw exodus in barcelona last year , wow , best guitar tone in metal ever
Ollie doin his metal dance at the end lmaoo
Killer.
This album is what made me hunt down a Peavey XXX.
I hear you man, pretty brutal amp.
Yeah it's a pretty extreme amp that fits Extreme Metal good.
Killer amps. Gary and Lee pummelled them on tour during those days as well. I have a pair of 'em. Face melters.
@@Ontariosound Full stacks? I’ve heard good things about them with a full stack
I have a matching Head, straight and slant XXX stack. Sounds deadly. Looks sick.
I have another 1/2 stack and the Super 40 XXX combo ( so versatile, and a great reverb tank).
There's a new dance craze that's sweeping the nation...
I was looking for a tone video for this and man glad you made one. I like how you go into settings in detail man thanks.
You're crushing it again Lamb. Outstanding!
Killing tone, killing capturing! Thanks a lot, LambChopper!
Another fantastic video. Tremendous playing as always. Thank you for this awesome series!
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Love the A & B albums! Nicely done sir!
You kick ass, Lamb!!!
Spot on with your tone and your comments.
Keep up the great work, Brother- we all enjoy your videos
Liked it before watching it. Thanks bro you are the best!
Been waiting for this, for a loooooooooooong time, finally, love your content brother, it never bores me, even your very old videos, over the years you've become my fav metal UA-camr, thrash on🔥🤘
Dude. I totally love your videos. You have a great ear and understanding of how to get a sound you're after out of what you've got. Fantastic skill to have. I need to work on that myself, and I thank you for these videos! \,,/
I LOVE THIS ALBUM MAN, love to see you playing also
Love the way you explained the pre-gain EQ vs. post. I have been using this idea for years. Thanks for the great video.
Bro, you're awesome! thanks for doing what you do!
I got into this album because of Lambchopper678! Thanks bro!
I really like this tone, it could be one of the best in your series! Thanks!
Absolutely crushing 🔥🤘🏻
Letsss gooo, been waiting for this 🤘🏼🔥
Love that guitar!!
Have you ever thought about Kreators tone, from extreme aggression or coma of souls 👌
Always excited when I get a notification for new videos. Favourite guitar UA-camr 👍 and love the exodus content. Thanks for providing the tones man.
Thanks man, very welcome 🙏🏼
Your tones are really good and such a good commercial for Marshall lol. Could you try and recreate some Coroner tones, especially RIP and Punishment for Decadence.🤘🏼
"This riff is probably my favorite" mine too bro , mine too...
Saaaaame
Was about to sleep after guitar practice and Lamb uploads... sleep is for the weak!!
That beautiful nasty tone 🤘🏼 shredding as always. Keep it up brother
Was waiting for this one. My favourite Exodus album, and I'm still blown away by that tone.
Congrats man! You totally nailed! I love Exodus! Gary's riff and tone never dissaponts.... Just getting anxious about the new Exodus material!
That Fortin Grind really kicks it up into Exodus territory.
Without it, the tone just sounds like a normal Marshall.
Excellent video. I remember getting this album on Day 1. Love the sound.
Damn bro, you have a hell of an ear !
Nicely done
Your Channel is one of the best metal channels in the entire UA-cam.
Lamb does it again. Pretty impressive that you could get the tone with what you had available. Well done, sir.
9:37 Best song on the album, in my opinion.
Loving these videos, I’m an AxeFx3 user and all these tips and tweaks translate well over to the AxeFx. Cheers mate..
Mate, thank you for atrocity exhibition, such a brilliant album and so underestimated
Spot on!
Seeing you play Funeral Hymn 7 years ago gave me the courage to learn the song myself.
Thank you, keep up the good work and keep on destroying!
You crushing. Thanks 🤘🏻☠️🔥🥃🥃🎸 funeral hymns nailed it.
Holy Shit! This is really dope !!
The connoisseur of capturing that tone 🤯🤘
Great job man 🤘
You’re a freaking genius with that DSL! And Gary Holt is the man 🤘
You should think about having memberships for your channel Lambchopper, your content is really awesome. I’d join up day one
Garys tone on Tempo Of The Damned is exactly what I want to sound like
Yeah it’s one of my favorites as well. I often day dream thinking that Marshall should make a thrash version of the DSL20H that doesn’t have a clean channel and sounds just like that out of the box. The Marshall Thrasher 🤘🏻
Now I’m dreaming again 😂
it's nice to see someone else with a live in fan! i have a 14 yr old lab who sits with me when i play my Jackson. i had to have him start sitting on the right of me because when he sat on the left the damn knife headstock Jackson designed kept stabbing him.
Glad you picked Exhibit A, so underrated guitar work on that album. Great job!🤘
MAN that sounds good!
wow, amazing. this album has one of the most brutal Thrash tones ever recorded.
only Exhibit B is a little bit more brutal (maybe because they used a Engl Savage 120 here).
do you think there are alternatives, to get close to that tone ,without the Fortin pedal ?
what cab did you use here ?
I guess with that Fortin pedal you can get also the "Impact is imment" (Thrash under pressure) tone
easily, which was my favorite Exodus tone before Exihibt A and B came.
killer. Nailed the tone, and man...that album. fully agree.
I've been waiting this video for almost 5 years lol
You have such a talent man youre the freaking tone master. Trying to learn your ways! I think youve changed the game, I cant tell you how many amps and cabs ive bought trying to chase tone with vintage jcm 800s and youre crushing it on a DSL 20w
Thanks for the great work and effort. Would you please capture some sound of Overkill?
Another upload 🔥
When you see Exodus live, you get your money's worth just by the roadie hitting an E power chord in soundcheck. Gary Holt has the best tone.
The cuts to your bird while you are shredding are too good! I reckon one of these days that thing will start headbanging! 🤘
Can't wait to see his new stuff for the next album. We need a preview, dammit!
These videos only make me want one even more
usually i don't drool over pedals but holy crap the fortin stuff just takes stuff to a new level of thrashing. i want them all.lol
Bedlam 123. One of their best tracks! The solo into that drop. Perfection. Tone is killer, nailed that bite!
There was a Exodusattack.com page with a forum where Gary described how he got his tone back then. He used Peavey Triple X with scopped mids and boosted it in front with a Presonus EQ3B parametric EQ to get this wah pedal kind of attack. He also used EL34 tubes in his head. I used this set up and it works. What is more he used Seymour duncan SH-5 Custom in the bridge on his Bernie Rico Vixen guitars. That's basically all. Regarding the parametric EQ you need to use a narrow Q around 800Hz-1kHz.
I’ve always loved the Grind. We all know it’s a one trick pony but man does it do it!
You have done again and again..so much inspiration and gear wise, can i ask Chopper? ..it s amazing all those great tones, have you played with other instruments (bass, guitar and drums) to hear how " they breathe" i dont doubt at all of your excellent approaching, just curious...ooo your gray t shirt and short it s also key part of your tones? 😅, really respect brother
Great video man! Got a questions if you don't mind, What pickups does that guitar have? I've got an SG now with just the stock pickups but looking to get a v style guitar, between the King V and Rhoads, which do you prefer for playing while seated? And do they behavior much differently when standing? And which pickups do you think pairs best with these guitars for a thrash tone, I've always used Seymour Duncan variants, curious about black winters for Jackson
And here I thought I was the only one who liked this album.
Having never listened to exodus, kinda looking forward to this video to see what they are made of!
How do we “@“ Marshall Amps on UA-cam?!
Lamb out here LITERALLY doing the best ads & pr for that brand.
Awesome video, still waiting on the capturing Randy Rhoads or Zakk Wylde tone 😉
Wow you really nailed this one. Really shows when you rip through those single note riffs.
the rare moment when I see LambChopper678 has uploaded a video less than a minute ago
Children of a Worthless God was flawless.
Hi from Paris France. The DSL makes the job . Great vid yeah
Kudos @lambchopper678, I am going into studio with Novichok and have tried to add a 10 band EQ in the fx loop of my TSL 100 plus OD and it sounds immense. All thanks to you. I'll add you to the credits!
Just checked you guys out the fb page, looks awesome 🤘🏻 Look forward to hearing it, good luck at Trillions
@@LambChopper678 that is awesome. Thanks mate. 🤟🤟🤟
My first taste of Exodus was in 1987 with Pleasures of the Flesh...and I still have the original cassette!
I have a theory, maybe creating carbon copies of awesome tones it isn't down to the amp or gear, perhaps it's because Ollie is a magical parrot. His powers can grant any tone you may desire as long as he's in the room while you play.
Savage!!!
My neighbours always know when there's a new LambChopper video a few seconds after I find out.
Love your videos man. I wanted to ask, how long does it usually take you when you research the tone your looking for?
Knowing the guitars and gear that my favorite bands have been using over the years is something I’ve always had interest in. I don’t research anything creating the tones, I sit with a similar guitar and learn/play riffs from the album tweaking knobs until it’s good. Knowing whether it’s an OD or EQ is just is being familiar with your gear
I thought Exodus were using Kempers on those albums... your tone is spot on! Great job.
Gary uses Kemper profiles of his original 87 JCM800 that was modified by Todd Langner back in the day. He retired the real Marshall years ago.
I can't get over how expensive those Fortin pedals are.
🤘Some false notes in Call To Arms melody and some riffs, but otherwise kicks ass!🤘 Nice parrot-headbanger!
Hell yes.
Es el álbum más pesado de Exodus!! 💪💪💪🤟🤟,Uno de mis favoritos.
Man I wish I had your ear for tone
Im so shit at dialing amps or sounds.
It would be awesome to see if you could match the MXR M108S to the Fortin Grind response?
I love my Fortin 33, fortin hexdrive, Fortin spliff, fortin zuul and fortin Blade 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
wow this sounds massive. What kind of headphones are you using?
HOLY CRAP! I just noticed you have a parrot! Has he been there the whole TIME???!!!
Or have I just been too focused on all the KILLER, unending riffs? haha!
Lol, you had me for a second...
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS haha! This dude is a champion amongst men. And add on top of that a parrot sidekick! What more can you ask for???
The DSL hall of fame
